00:00Hello sir, what's your name?
00:03I'm Tom Hatfield, Group Manager for Telford & Reiki.
00:06Quite a special day here at Wellington isn't it? What's going on?
00:09Yeah, so it's our annual open day put on by Tony and Amber Watch
00:15and it's just an opportunity for the community to come in and meet the crews
00:19and find out a little bit about what we do.
00:21And you've got demonstrations I believe taking place and stuff, yeah?
00:24Yeah, so at 12 o'clock today we had a road crash demonstration
00:28showing how we rescue casualties from a car.
00:31We've got our aerial ladder platform statically positioned
00:36and some animal rescue demonstrations going on.
00:38And I've seen a few kids are even getting a chance to have a go on the O's aren't they,
00:41I've seen, which is good fun.
00:43Yeah, so kids having a go with some of the equipment,
00:45trying on some of the PPE's, sitting in the fire engines and meeting the crews.
00:50What's the idea with these days?
00:52Is it to inspire youngsters potentially coming into the service
00:56or just to remind people what you're all about?
00:59Yeah, well a bit of both really.
01:01So all our stations are community fire stations so they belong to the public
01:05so we welcome the public in to come and meet the crews.
01:08We can share some information about how to stay safe in the home
01:11and while out and about, show them what we do
01:14and hopefully look for our recruits in the future.
