00:07on how to lose belly fat with no diet, no exercise.
00:11I'm about to call BS, but first let's watch.
00:14Let's get started.
00:15Be-woop!
00:16No diet, no exercise.
00:19How I lost belly fat in one week.
00:22You didn't, because that's physically impossible.
00:25Do you have that one item of clothing
00:27hanging in the back of your closet
00:28that's perhaps a little on the small size,
00:31but you swear up and down one of these days
00:34you're gonna lose the weight and rock that.
00:36Why are they showing dudes attacking each other
00:40in an abandoned warehouse wearing a unisuit?
00:47The biggest thing holding me back
00:48from putting on that dress is my belly, literally.
00:53So I decided to do something about it.
00:55I got rid of the pooch in just a week
00:58without any extreme dieting or hours at the gym.
01:01I'm not saying extreme dieting is necessary
01:04to lose this terrible word, the pooch,
01:07but you do need to control your caloric intake.
01:10I always tell that to people.
01:11If you're trying to think about exercise for losing weight,
01:13you're thinking wrong.
01:14You need to think about your diet and your activity,
01:17not your exercise.
01:18Because if you walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes,
01:20that's not nearly as many calories
01:22as if you were walking throughout the day
01:24for the 15 hours you've been awake
01:26and taking the stairs instead of the escalator.
01:28When I say I decided to get rid of my gut,
01:31perhaps I didn't use the right term.
01:33I was basically thrown into panic mode
01:35when the guy of my dreams asked me out one day.
01:39This seems like it's some kind of NLP thing
01:42that's like they're trying to convince you
01:43that you need to lose weight.
01:45This is the problem with diet culture.
01:47This bright side, bee-woop.
01:48Can't believe I just cursed.
01:50I wanted to not only look drop-dead gorgeous
01:52in that body-hugging number, but also feel better.
01:56First and foremost, I started by doing some research.
01:59Oh, she went into a lab and worked with a microscope

02:03Did I stutter?
02:05Then with-
02:05With cur-
02:06So I drew up a list of goals I wanted to achieve.
02:09Get rid of bloating.
02:11Reduce water retention.
02:13Reconsider my diet and lifestyle.
02:15So you are gonna reconsider your diet,
02:17which is the first thing you said in this video
02:19that you're not gonna do.
02:20What I did to reduce bloating.
02:22Okay, I can't wait for it.
02:23Bloating is definitely not fat.
02:25Okay, definitely, okay.
02:26It's air or gas that collects in your gut
02:29and causes the stomach to feel tight, full, and swollen.
02:32Once I'd established that I was indeed bloated.
02:35How did you establish it?
02:36Because the YouTube video that you watched said it?
02:38I tried this thing called acupressure,
02:40since I read that it really helps with bloating.
02:43I used the following two methods.
02:45If they say to get a foot rub to lower bloating,
02:49I'm gonna have a coronary.
02:50The first pressure point can be found
02:52about four fingers above your belly button.
02:54I massaged this spot for three minutes
02:56using both clockwise and counterclockwise movement.
02:59I have to massage one of my acupressure spots
03:02and woo-sa, woo-sa.
03:06And the funny thing is I'm not against
03:07like an abdominal massage.
03:09Like we do mesenteric lifts
03:11when we learn osteopathic manipulative medicine.
03:14But what they're saying here is so overblown.
03:17The other point is four fingers below your belly button.
03:20Again, I massaged this spot for three minutes
03:23moving in clockwise and counterclockwise.
03:25This is an awkward image that I wish YouTube blocked.
03:28And get rid of heaviness in the stomach.
03:30Why are they showing a ship anchor?
03:33Yeah, I'd say it works.
03:35The reason why mesenteric lifts work
03:37is because when you mechanically massage your intestines,
03:40it can actually stimulate peristalsis,
03:43which is the muscular movement of the intestines
03:45pushing food forward.
03:46If for whatever example, you have a little bit of ileus
03:49where there's peristalsis is decreased
03:51and there could be all sorts of causes for that.
03:53Massaging the area could stimulate that movement.
03:56You can also just eat a teaspoon
03:58of grated ginger before meals.
03:59That's what I did,
04:00but it was a little too spicy for my liking.
04:03Along with the acupressure and ginger recipes,
04:06I started adding turmeric powder to my water and smoothie.
04:09I just don't know what turmeric is gonna do for bloating,
04:12especially if you don't know the cause of your bloating.
04:14The symptom of bloating is so nonspecific,
04:17it can be attributed to so many different conditions.
04:19Acid reflux, ulcer disease,
04:22inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn's
04:24or ulcerative colitis.
04:25You could have a mass, you could have a tumor,
04:27you could have diverticulitis,
04:29you could have appendicitis,
04:30and yet they have the solution for you.
04:33Just a little sprinkle of ground ginger,
04:36little sprinkle of turmeric,
04:37and the world is gonna be perfect
04:40and you could wear that dress and look gorgeous.
04:44Yay!
04:46I also needed to flush out the excess fluid
04:49that was building up inside my body.
04:51How do you know you have excess fluid?
04:53At least that's what the experts recommend.
04:55What experts?
04:57Here's exactly what I did to get rid
04:58of this so-called fluid retention.
05:01Thank God they wrote it on the laptop
05:02because I couldn't follow along otherwise.
05:04I cut way down on my salt intake.
05:07I read that too much sodium,
05:09which is the stuff that's in salt,
05:10causes the body to retain more water.
05:13Okay, that's not wrong,
05:15but you know how she said too much salt
05:16and you said cut your salt way down?
05:19How do you know you've been taking too much
05:22that you should be cutting it way down?
05:23What if you've been taking the appropriate amount
05:25and now you're cutting it down even more?
05:27This would explain that puffy feeling I'd been having
05:29before the experiment began.
05:31This is an experiment.
05:32Okay, so it's not proven, this is your theory.
05:34I knew it!
05:36Tomatoes, bananas, spinach, avocados, beetroot,
05:40and coconut water became my best friends.
05:43Or you could just eat literally any vegetable
05:46and they'll be your best friends.
05:47I tried to consume fewer carbs
05:49since they supposedly increase your insulin levels.
05:52I love that we just said at the beginning of this video,
05:54we're not gonna be doing any extreme dieting.
05:56I cut down salt, I cut down water, I cut down carbs.
06:00You cut everything out of your diet!
06:02But to tell you the truth,
06:03it's not that restrictive of a diet.
06:06It is, not this part, but everything that you just said is.
06:09So you don't really feel like you're dieting.
06:10Except you are.
06:11How I changed my lifestyle and reconsidered my diet.
06:15This whole thing's about the diet.

06:20Here's how I lost my belly fat without changing my diet.
06:24And here's three steps how I changed my diet.
06:26I replaced carbs with protein.
06:28No, I didn't feel starved or unhappy.
06:31I actually felt lighter and full of energy.
06:34Nuts, fish, dairy products, and meat
06:36turned out to be no less delicious
06:38than junk food and pastries.
06:40You could have all those things in junk food.
06:43Junk food doesn't mean
06:44that you're not eating meat or protein.
06:46There's plenty of protein-filled junk food.
06:48I reduced my portion sizes,
06:50but ate more often throughout the day.
06:52That doesn't really change much.
06:53You're still consuming the same amount of calories.
06:55I completely quit the sugary store-bought stuff
06:58and made my own tasty and fat-burning drinks at home.
07:01Like the smoothies you just showed in the previous clip
07:03that have tons of added sugar in them?
07:05To make a super refreshing and slimming citrus drink,
07:08throw half a cup of pomegranate,
07:09half a cup of grapefruit, a pinch of salt,
07:12and one teaspoon of honey into a blender.
07:14And that's it.
07:15And that's it.
07:16Get 38 ingredients that are probably off-season for you,
07:20and that's it.
07:21Instead of sitting in front of the TV all evening,
07:23I went for short 15 to 30-minute walks.
07:26I like it.
07:27Basically, any little thing I could do
07:28to get moving more, I did it.
07:30Here's a simple way I lost my abdominal fat.
07:33I completely changed my life.
07:34I started walking a ton more.
07:36I started changing my diet.
07:38I completely cut out all bad foods,
07:39and that took no exercise and no dietary changes.
07:44You just gave me 400 different things that you changed.
07:46I did try one specific exercise you can do for bloating,
07:50and it's called the stomach vacuum.
07:52It's not as scary as it sounds.
07:54All you have to do is get on all fours and inhale-
07:56Are they gonna cat-cow?
07:57Loosening up your stomach muscles.
07:59There's nothing wrong with this exercise,
08:00but to say that this is gonna change anything
08:02in your belly is absolutely ridiculous.
08:04Do an exercise that gets your heart rate up,
08:06that is good for you from a sweat perspective,
08:08from a heart rate perspective,
08:10from a strength training perspective.
08:11And remember, you can't spot reduce.
08:13Just because I'm gonna do a bunch of sit-ups
08:14doesn't mean the fat on my abdomen's gonna go away.
08:16I did this for just five minutes a day,
08:19and I saw a big difference.
08:20Oh yeah, that's what she looked like
08:22when she did those stomach vacuums.
08:23That dress ended up fitting me better than ever.
08:26Oh, and I got lots of compliments from my date.
08:29This is literally a transformation that would take months,
08:32and that's the reasonable expectation for one to have,
08:35to promise this in a matter of days is complete boo.
08:39I don't wanna say it, BS.
08:40But what started as a one-week experiment
08:43actually became changes I've made for good.
08:46I look and, more importantly, feel so much better.
08:50So if you're dealing with bloating, excess weight.
08:53You're dealing with bloating or excess weight,
08:55or you're staring at the beach in a full suit,
08:57wearing Oxford shoes.
08:58The funny thing is, if this video said,
09:00make healthy lifestyle changes for a healthier you,
09:02I'd be with it.
09:03But the thing that they're twisting
09:05is how long all of this is gonna take,
09:06the promise that you don't have to make any major changes.
09:09Why is that bad?
09:10Because you're gonna think that you're a failure,
09:11that you couldn't get it done in such a short number of days.
09:13You will fail because it's much harder
09:15than they initially explain that it is.
09:17So it's gonna be demotivating.
09:18And when you're demotivated,
09:19you're less likely to stick with it.
09:20One of the things they recommend that's actually helpful,
09:22instead of the elevator, take the stairs.
09:24Instead of watching TV, go for a walk.
09:26Those things are gonna pay dividends.
09:28What they're also gonna do is gonna give you motivation
09:30to continue on and making more changes.
09:33Don't wait for the motivation, start with the action.
