Cheat (2024) Synopsis
A supernatural horror film set in a small college town.

In Silvercreek, Pennsylvania, a chilling urban legend begins to manifest as reality.

Rumored to be a vengeful spirit from the afterlife, a supernatural entity is believed to be targeting and killing those who cheat on their significant others. As the body count rises and the town's unusually high suicide rate becomes undeniable, locals and college students alike grapple with the terrifying truth.

Maeve, a college student, finds herself drawn into the deadly game when she embarks on an affair with Charlie, the married man of the host family she is staying with. Both sense the impending doom as the curse closes in on them. Desperate for answers, they seek the help of a local history student who may hold the key to unraveling the mystery and defeating the malevolent force.

As the terror escalates and victims fall prey to the savage entity, Maeve, Charlie, and a handful of survivors must band together to confront the monstrous threat and end its reign of terror once and for all.

00:00:07God, I hate this thing.
00:00:11Can you hear me?
00:00:13I can hear you. Can you hear me?
00:00:15Hey, yeah. Sorry, I was just connecting to my car.
00:00:18This phone sucks.
00:00:20What's up?
00:00:21Just checking in. Are you close?
00:00:23Yeah, I'm about 20 minutes out.
00:00:25Just remember your manners.
00:00:27You're a guest in someone's home.
00:00:29Dead girl's home.
00:00:31Dad.
00:00:32I'm sorry, but I don't think I'm totally comfortable with the situation.
00:00:35Don't be like that.
00:00:37They're trying to turn their tragedy into something positive.
00:00:39It's admirable.
00:00:41I don't understand why you couldn't stay in a dorm or...
00:00:44It's a small art scholarship.
00:00:46They could have just as easily given it to a local student.
00:00:48Well, maybe they shouldn't.
00:00:50I'm going to pretend you didn't say that.
00:00:52I'm sorry.
00:00:53This program is a really good opportunity for me, Dad.
00:00:56Are you sure you don't want to be a nurse?
00:00:58They get great benefits.
00:01:00Dad, we've been through this. Please.
00:01:02I just worry about you.
00:01:04Shit!
00:01:05Babe.
00:01:06Babe!
00:01:07Are you okay?
00:01:09Dad, yeah, I'm okay. Just hold on a second.
00:01:21Babe!
00:01:22Yeah, yeah, stay on the phone. I think there's just something in the road.
00:01:26Okay.
00:01:46Babe?
00:01:56Hey, Dad, sorry. There was just a tire in the road. I had to move it.
00:01:59Just be careful. Text me when you get there.
00:02:02Okay, I will.
00:02:03I love you.
00:02:04I love you, too.
00:02:05I love you more.
00:02:06I know. Bye.

00:03:37I do, yes.
00:03:38Sorry, that was a bad joke.
00:03:40It's pretty quiet around here most of the time.
00:03:42Kitchen's right through this way.
00:03:54Maeve?
00:03:55Sorry, you have such a beautiful home.
00:03:58I'm not used to having this much space.
00:04:00Well, for this semester, consider it your home.
00:04:03Come on, right through here.
00:04:11Just watch the door there.
00:04:13Feel free to eat or drink anything that's in the fridge.

00:04:32Okay.
00:04:33Should be it.

00:04:35Yeah, in the kitchen.
00:04:37That's Lydia.
00:04:38She lives next door.
00:04:40Her and my daughter were...
00:04:41Finally!
00:04:43Okay.
00:04:44Hi!
00:04:45Okay.
00:04:46Maeve, this is Lydia.
00:04:47Her and my daughter were...
00:04:49really close.
00:04:50Are you kidding?
00:04:51We were besties.
00:04:53Nice to meet you.
00:04:54Nice to meet you.
00:04:55I was thinking that maybe you could go to school with Lydia,
00:04:57just to show you around being first day and all.
00:04:59Yeah, sure.
00:05:00That'd be great.
00:05:01Okay.
00:05:02Well, I just wanted to stop by on my way home and say hi,
00:05:04but I have to run.
00:05:05I'll come grab you tomorrow morning.
00:05:07So nice to finally meet you.

00:05:11Later.
00:05:13I'll be by around 8.
00:05:15Yep.
00:05:16See ya.
00:05:17She can be a bit much sometimes, but she means well.
00:05:20Come on, up the stairs.
00:05:21I'll show you your bedroom.
00:05:28So your bathroom is straight down there on the left.
00:05:31Feel free to set it up any way you'd like.
00:05:33We have our own in our room.
00:05:35And then this is your bedroom.
00:05:37It's a little small, but I think it should do the trick.
00:05:40No, it's great.
00:05:44Okay.
00:05:46I'm gonna make some dinner around 6 o'clock if you're hungry.
00:05:49No pressure.
00:05:50Um, actually, I think I'm just gonna lie down and drive.
00:05:54Okay, no worries.
00:06:15Hey.
00:06:24Hey.
00:06:27Hey.
00:06:34Hey.
00:06:43Hey.
00:06:45Hey.
00:06:47Hey.
00:07:10Hey.
00:07:12Hey.
00:07:13Hey.
00:07:15Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
00:07:45aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
00:08:15aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
00:08:45I shouldn't have come in here. The door was open. I'm sorry.
00:08:50It's okay.
00:08:56I'm sure you think it's weird we kept a room like this.
00:08:59No. No, I don't think that.
00:09:02Well, I do.
00:09:04My wife insisted.
00:09:07She was having a real hard time.
00:09:09She was in denial for a while.
00:09:12I guess I thought keeping it like this would help, but...
00:09:16I only think it made things worse.
00:09:20Here.
00:09:37I've dinner ready downstairs if you're hungry.
00:09:40Come down whenever.
00:10:07Wine?
00:10:09No, I'm okay. Thank you.
00:10:12This is good.
00:10:14I'm not much of a cook.
00:10:16My wife used to do all the cooking until...
00:10:19Well, I had to learn.
00:10:21I'm getting better.
00:10:23I mean, this is great.
00:10:25You're a terrible liar.
00:10:27Okay, so maybe not great, but it's edible.
00:10:30Okay, I appreciate your honesty.
00:10:33Maeve.
00:10:35There's something you should know.
00:10:38My wife...
00:10:40She's been in and out of a facility since it happened.
00:10:45She's not violent or anything.
00:10:47She's just very depressed.
00:10:49We're trying to get it under control, get her some help, but...
00:10:53We don't know when she'll get out or be back.
00:10:56I understand. I'm sorry.
00:11:00It's difficult to fathom.
00:11:02A psychiatrist who failed in treating his own family.
00:11:08Yeah.
00:11:11Um...
00:11:13How are you doing with everything?
00:11:18You know, it's been a while since anyone asked me that.
00:11:21I deal with it differently, I guess.
00:11:24I play a lot of tennis, drink on occasion.
00:11:31Truth is...
00:11:34Anna and I weren't very much in love before we lost Abby.
00:11:37We had her when we were so young.
00:11:40It wasn't always ugly.
00:11:42It was hard, but it was mutual.
00:11:45Copacetic.
00:11:47We were planning on getting a divorce.
00:11:51Sometimes people just fall out of love, I guess.
00:11:54Relationships can be complicated.
00:11:57Anyway, we're gonna tell Abby, but...
00:12:04I'm sorry.
00:12:06We don't have to talk about this.
00:12:08No. It's OK. It's good.
00:12:11It's good to talk about it.
00:12:13Nobody ever wants to talk about it.
00:12:16Anyway, we decided to be together.
00:12:20Grieve together.
00:12:23I guess. So we started a foundation.
00:12:26I thought it'd be good for Anna.
00:12:28Keep her mind off things, keep her busy, but...
00:12:31I'm not sure it worked out that way.
00:12:37Well, um...
00:12:39I also understand complicated relationships.
00:12:44How so?
00:12:47My mother left us when I was five.
00:12:50So it was just my dad and me.
00:12:53And my boyfriend at the moment, um...
00:12:57He had to go away as well.
00:13:02Facility?
00:13:06Prison, actually.
00:13:10I'm sorry. It must be hard.
00:13:12It's fine. We were high school sweethearts.
00:13:15And he got into some stupid shit.
00:13:18He's been in there a couple years now.
00:13:20And it's probably for the best.
00:13:22But he still thinks that we're together.
00:13:25Which, I mean, I guess that we would be, technically.
00:13:30I never ended things officially.
00:13:32Kind of a hard conversation to have, given the circumstances.
00:13:40Well, here's to complicated relationships.
00:13:46You know what? I think I will have some wine.
00:13:52Okay, then.
00:14:00Cheers.
00:14:08Cheers.
00:14:31Sigh.
00:14:37Sigh.
00:14:39Sigh.
00:14:41Sigh.
00:14:43Sigh.
00:14:45Sigh.
00:15:01Do you do drugs?
00:15:03Drugs? No, no. That's not my thing.
00:15:07Do you?
00:15:09No. Well, except weed and mushrooms, but they're natural.
00:15:13I do take Xanax, but I have a prescription for that.
00:15:19So what happened with Abby?
00:15:22Another suicide, unfortunately.
00:15:24Another?
00:15:25Yeah.
00:15:27Shitty to say, but you get used to it after a while.
00:15:31Doesn't sound like something you get used to.
00:15:34We have one of the highest suicide rates in the country.
00:15:37Must be the weather.
00:15:38Or the fact that we're in the middle of fucking nowhere.
00:15:43Still must have been hard on you.
00:15:45Fuck yeah, it was.
00:15:47She was my ride or die.
00:15:49But who am I to judge?
00:15:51This world is a messed up place.
00:15:53If she wanted to bail early, more power to her.
00:15:56I don't necessarily blame her.
00:15:59I guess that's one way to look at it.
00:16:02It's still all just hard to process.
00:16:05Abby did what she had to do.
00:16:07I'm sure she had her reasons.
00:16:10Look, I miss her. I miss the shit out of her.
00:16:13Don't get me wrong, but I get it.
00:16:15I can't wait to transfer out of here.
00:16:18Be happy you're only here a semester.
00:16:26These are portraits by Paul Momer.
00:16:29He was a modernist painter.
00:16:31He was painting at the time of Picasso.
00:16:33He was actually friends with a lot of important painters of the day here in America.
00:16:38I'm thinking about, when I look at these,
00:16:42the modernist slant that he has on all his work,
00:16:45which is the impulse to make things flat and to abstract them
00:16:51and almost come to a point where they become like an Egyptian formal line structure.
00:16:57We do see that in something like this that's reminiscent of Picasso.
00:17:01But with Paul Momer's work, you see something going on a little deeper
00:17:05as he gets into other portraits like this one here, for instance.
00:17:09You see an emotional well coming up.
00:17:12That happens with all of his works
00:17:15because inside of all these characters is a secret.
00:17:18There's something going on that they're telling you silently through the works.
00:17:23So if you can put that in your minds as you're back in the studio and painting,
00:17:28I think that's going to make your work sing.
00:17:43Look at him. He's a freak.
00:17:46I mean, I bet her mom did it. She's supposed to be a real nut job.
00:17:49I heard there's some serious creeper in the woods spying on people in town.
00:17:53And if he catches you cheating, he tries to kill you and make it look like a suicide.
00:17:56No one listens to me. I'm not saying the curse is real, but the story is.
00:18:00Bro, the curse is not real.
00:18:03Why is her boyfriend doing this? He said she knew she was going to die.
00:18:06She killed herself. Of course she knew she was going to die.
00:18:09You're fucked up.
00:18:11I'm sorry, but it's true.
00:18:13What's the curse?
00:18:16Is it like some urban legend or something?
00:18:19It's the curse of the farmer's daughter.
00:18:21Abby did not die from a curse.
00:18:23I'm not saying it's a curse. I'm just trying to tell you idiots the history.
00:18:27You guys suck. I'm out of here.
00:18:47Hello?
00:18:49Hello. There's an inmate from a correctional facility who needs you to accept a collect call and associated charges.
00:18:56Say yes or hit the number one on your keypad to accept.
00:19:00Say no or hit the number two on your keypad to decline.
00:19:04No.
00:19:06Hey.
00:19:08Hey.
00:19:10Hey.
00:19:12Hey.
00:19:15Hey. You look nice.
00:19:17Just a shower and a suit.
00:19:20I'm going to this thing. I wasn't sure it was going to happen, but I shouldn't be back too late.
00:19:24Are you going to be alright here on your own?
00:19:26Yeah, I should be fine.
00:19:28Okay. Will you have my cell phone? Call me if you need anything.
00:19:32Yep.
00:19:40Hey.
00:19:42Hey. You forget something?
00:19:45Would you like to come with me?
00:19:51Yeah. Sure.
00:20:12Hi.
00:20:24Hi.
00:20:26Hi.
00:20:28Thank you everyone for coming tonight.
00:20:30I want to thank Robert and Charlotte for putting this together.
00:20:33Unfortunately, Anna can't be with us tonight as many of you know.
00:20:37But we're hoping to have her back home soon.
00:20:43Tonight we celebrate Abby's life.
00:20:47While cut short, it's important to remember the good times.
00:20:51I'm grateful for the time I had with her, as short as that may have been.
00:20:57This year marks the one year anniversary of her passing.
00:21:03We're continuing to keep her and her memory alive through our scholarship foundation.
00:21:09Every year we will award one college senior a financial scholarship
00:21:15for future educational pursuits that they otherwise might not have had access to.
00:21:20And we're doing it right here at our very own Crary College of Art and Design.
00:21:25A place where Abby spent so much of her time as a passionate artist and a student.
00:21:36I truly believe this will not only benefit our scholarship recipients,
00:21:43but continue to put our college and our town on the map.
00:21:49That being said, we have a remarkable young woman who's the first recipient of that award.
00:21:56And she's here with us tonight, Maeve Johnson.
00:22:00Once again, thank you so much for your ongoing love and support.
00:22:04I couldn't have done it without you. Thank you so much.
00:22:29That was nice tonight.
00:22:36It was.
00:22:38Thank you for inviting me.
00:22:41Thanks for coming with me.
00:22:43I'm sorry. I should go to bed.

00:28:51Yeah, me too.
00:28:55She didn't kill herself, you know that.
00:28:57I saw your sign.
00:28:58How do you know that?
00:28:59She told me.
00:29:01Told you what?
00:29:02No one's listening.
00:29:04I'm listening, I'm not like the others.
00:29:06I promise I want to hear what you have to say.
00:29:08It's too late.
00:29:09Too late for what?
00:29:10It's too late to stop her.
00:29:12Stop who?
00:29:16Clara.
00:29:19Okay.
00:29:23You're not listening.

00:30:19What's up?
00:30:23Charlie, what...
00:30:24What's up?
00:30:26Charlie!
00:30:27Where you going?
00:30:52Sorry.
00:31:22Hello?
00:31:23Hello, there's an inmate from a correctional facility who needs you to...
00:31:26No.
00:31:35Lydia, I need to tell you something.
00:31:38Okay.
00:31:39Something weird happened.
00:31:42Um...
00:31:44Yeah.
00:31:46Can you just put your phone down for a second and just look at me, please?
00:31:54Okay, so...
00:31:55This morning, I saw this weird girl outside of my window.
00:32:02But she didn't look like she was from here.
00:32:04Like, her clothes were really old and worn and dated.
00:32:10She just, like, kept staring at me.
00:32:13Like, right through me.
00:32:16So?
00:32:18So that doesn't seem odd to you?
00:32:20No, not really.
00:32:23Where would she have come from?
00:32:24It's probably one of the Amish girls.
00:32:26They come into town to do carpentry for people.
00:32:28No, she wasn't Amish.
00:32:30I know what Amish girls look like. This was different.
00:32:33Did she say anything to you?
00:32:35No.
00:32:37Did you say anything to her?
00:32:39No. I was inside with the window closed, but she just kept staring.
00:32:44I'm sure it's nothing. Probably just some rando walking around.
00:32:47This is a weird town, Maeve.
00:32:50Yeah, but it just... it didn't seem like a random person.
00:32:52It... it seemed like...
00:32:54Like what?
00:32:57I don't know. I can't describe it, but...
00:32:59I've been getting this weird feeling that...
00:33:03That I'm constantly being watched.
00:33:05I don't know what to tell you.
00:33:11That's not all.
00:33:15I slept with Mr. Walker.
00:33:17What? Are you kidding me? You fucked him?
00:33:20Can you stop yelling?
00:33:22I cannot believe this. You are much different than I thought, Miss Johnson.
00:33:26We might end up being besties after all.
00:33:28This is not a joke, Lydia. This is bad.
00:33:30I think it's awesome. Mr. Walker is super hot.
00:33:33How did it happen?
00:33:35I don't know. We were talking, drinking a little.
00:33:40It just happened.
00:33:42You slut.
00:33:43Stop. No. He and his wife are separated. They were going to get a divorce.
00:33:46Who cares?
00:33:47I care. I kind of like him.
00:33:50You're a better person than me.
00:33:54Lydia, does this...
00:33:57sound like something to you?
00:33:58May have.
00:33:59I'm so over this.
00:34:01I don't know. It's just... It keeps freaking me out.
00:34:04Well, don't let it. You are a master of your own thoughts. Remember that.
00:34:08You just feel guilty about Mr. Walker, but you shouldn't.
00:34:13Yeah. Yeah, you're probably right.
00:34:16Yeah. Come on. What are you doing tonight?
00:34:19I don't know.
00:34:20We should do something.
00:34:23See? I told you we have the shittiest weather.
00:34:25Yeah, it's not like Georgia.
00:34:28Oh, shit.
00:34:29Ew. Don't step in it.
00:34:30Ew. It's too late.
00:34:32Gross.
00:34:52I'm going to run to the bathroom.
00:35:23Shit.
00:35:38Shit.
00:35:52Shit.
00:36:03Why hold the door?
00:36:06Maria has a headache.
00:36:09Oh, rot. You're just dramatizing again.
00:36:12By George, you were right after all.
00:36:15I did pet it.
00:36:18What shall I do?
00:36:21I feel so retarded.
00:36:24He's dead.
00:36:26He's dead, and I'm left with a fool like you.
00:36:31I tell you what to do. Have a bit of shut-eye.
00:36:33You'll wake up in an hour feeling your old self again.
00:36:35And there'll be no more silly stories about falling for a middle-aged roustabout.
00:36:40Oh, please, George.
00:36:42Just take these to Maria.
00:36:51Sensei, this is very important.
00:36:53For you as well as for myself.
00:36:55Please forgive me.
00:36:56There is now nothing new for you.
00:36:58And you will know my problems with special illness.
00:37:01I won't beat about the bush.
00:37:03Wait, it's me.
00:37:04What?
00:37:20No.
00:37:50It's me.
00:38:01It's me. Open up.
00:38:04Maid, please open the door.
00:38:13I'm not crazy. I'm not crazy.
00:38:15What is going on?
00:38:16I saw her.
00:38:18I saw her.
00:38:19Who?
00:38:20The girl.
00:38:21The girl from the walker's house.
00:38:23The Amish girl?
00:38:24She's not Amish.
00:38:25Well, whatever. You know what I mean.
00:38:27Just calm down, all right? It's all good.
00:38:31You think I'm crazy?
00:38:33No.
00:38:35Well, yeah.
00:38:37Maria, I swore she was out there!
00:38:43Don't open it.
00:38:44Maid, you're being silly.
00:38:45We can't stay in the bathroom all night. Come on.
00:38:49No.
00:38:54Jesus, finally. What are you two doing in here, hooking up?
00:39:04I should go home.
00:39:05We are. Not my idea.
00:39:08No, I mean the city.
00:39:10No way. I'm not letting you do that.
00:39:14I'm going to call my dad in the morning and tell him he was right.
00:39:17What if I stay with you tonight?
00:39:19You would do that?
00:39:20Yeah, of course.
00:39:23Do you believe me?
00:39:24No.
00:39:26But I don't want you to go, either.
00:39:28I kind of like you.
00:39:31Tomorrow, will you go with me?
00:39:33Maid, come on.
00:39:36Look, I just, I want to hear what he has to say.
00:39:38If he tells me that I'm a certifiable nut, then that's fine.
00:39:41But I just, I need to know.
00:39:42Okay.
00:39:47You're welcome.
00:40:17I love you.
00:40:35I'm not going to be able to sleep.
00:40:41Is that Brandon?
00:40:43No.
00:40:48Okay.
00:41:02Lydia, do you think that you'll ever get married?
00:41:07Not to Brandon.
00:41:09I didn't mean now, just, you know, down the road.
00:41:13I don't really think about it much.
00:41:15You?
00:41:17I always thought I would, but now I'm not so sure.
00:41:23Well, there's no reason to stress about it now.
00:41:26Yeah, I guess.
00:41:30We have plenty of time.
00:41:45I love you.
00:42:16Oh, well, we tried.
00:42:19No, I see somebody moving in there.
00:42:28Maid, come on, it's freezing.
00:42:36Can I help you?
00:42:37Hi, yeah, is your son home?
00:42:40No, he's not.
00:42:42Can I help you?
00:42:43Hi, yeah, is your son home?
00:42:45No, he's not here.
00:42:46I'm sorry.
00:42:47Well, do you know where he's at?
00:42:48This is important.
00:42:49I don't know.
00:42:50Try the library.
00:42:51He's a real bookworm.
00:42:52I swear, sometimes I think he's not even mine.
00:42:57Are you okay?
00:43:00Yeah.
00:43:01The library?
00:43:02Yeah, that's what I said.
00:43:07What a fucking weirdo.
00:43:11Let's go.
00:43:42I'm sorry.
00:43:56Are you here just to make fun of me?
00:43:59No, we're not.
00:44:01I don't believe you.
00:44:02I wouldn't be that cruel.
00:44:03Yeah, but she would.
00:44:07Why should I help you?
00:44:08Because we're hot.
00:44:09See?
00:44:10I believe you, Ollie.
00:44:14Yeah?
00:44:16Yeah, I do.
00:44:19Okay.
00:44:22What do you want to know?
00:44:41This stuff is real old.
00:44:44Can't find this on the internet.
00:44:46That's her.
00:44:47That's the girl I saw.
00:44:50Are you sure?
00:44:53That's Clara Miller.
00:44:56Clara.
00:44:58What happened to her?
00:45:01She found out her father was having an affair.
00:45:04She was too afraid to tell her mother.
00:45:06Thought she wouldn't be able to take it.
00:45:09So, she tried to save her family.
00:45:13She confronted her father, hoping he would end the affair, but that didn't happen.
00:45:19He demanded that she tell no one and never talk about it again.
00:45:24The guilt was too much for her, so she decided to take matters into her own hands.
00:45:32She followed him one night.
00:45:35When she got her chance,
00:45:39she blew the mistress away with a rifle.
00:45:43Three days later, her father slit his own daughter's throat.
00:45:49Fuck.
00:45:53Okay, so? It still doesn't mean anything.
00:45:56There's more.
00:45:59After this, strange occurrences started happening all over Silver Creek.
00:46:03Suicide rate went way up.
00:46:06Then, reports started coming in that people saw Clara Miller in town.
00:46:10Then rumors started spreading.
00:46:12What were the rumors?
00:46:14Cheating ruined her life, so Clara would kill anyone that cheated.
00:46:18Why does she make it look like suicide?
00:46:21So she never gets caught.
00:46:23So let's go to the police.
00:46:25And tell them what?
00:46:28They'll never believe us.
00:46:33Oh.
00:46:54Hey.
00:46:56Hey.
00:46:58I haven't seen you in a bit.
00:47:00Yeah, um, Lydia's been keeping me busy.
00:47:04Right.
00:47:06How's Anna?
00:47:08They're coming home as soon as we expect it, I'm afraid.
00:47:12I'm sorry.
00:47:15Did you tell her?
00:47:20Can't keep wasting money on rehabs that don't work.
00:47:26You know, the other night,
00:47:30we shouldn't—
00:47:31Stop.
00:47:33We're both adults.
00:47:34We made a decision.
00:47:36Right.
00:47:40I like you, Charlie.
00:47:42I like you too.
00:47:44I don't want to make things harder.
00:47:47You're not.
00:47:48Trust me.
00:47:50It's nice having you here.
00:47:57Have you—
00:47:59Have you ever heard of the name Clara Miller?
00:48:01No, I don't think so.
00:48:05Why, should I have?
00:48:09I think we're in danger.
00:48:11What kind?
00:48:14Someone,
00:48:16something,
00:48:18is coming for me
00:48:19and coming for you.
00:48:21I don't understand.
00:48:23I keep seeing this girl.
00:48:25I saw her the other day staring at me in the window
00:48:27and then again at the movie theater.
00:48:31She's watching me.
00:48:34I think this town is cursed.
00:48:37And I'm scared.
00:48:40This is the girl.
00:48:47Where did you get this?
00:48:48The library.
00:48:50Doesn't make sense.
00:48:51Do you recognize her?
00:48:54I saw her.
00:48:57Yesterday.
00:49:01He's dead.
00:49:04Who?
00:49:06Who's dead?
00:49:07Elijah.
00:49:13I did a bad thing.
00:49:16He asked me to.
00:49:18What happened?
00:49:22He said it would help him.
00:49:25I felt bad for him.
00:49:27I didn't think it would.
00:49:30It was real.
00:49:31I didn't know.
00:49:33Didn't know what?
00:49:35It would kill him.
00:49:43He asked me to sleep with him.
00:49:47He said it was the only way he could be with Abby again.
00:49:53Something about
00:49:55him wanting her to come for him
00:49:56the way she came for Abby.
00:50:00Abby.
00:50:30Abby.
00:50:52He said it would take a few days.
00:50:55How long has it been?
00:50:57Three days.
00:51:01Maybe she won't come for me.
00:51:04I mean, I don't even love Brandon.
00:51:06We're just dating.
00:51:07It's not like we're married.
00:51:12I don't want to die.
00:51:14I've never even left this town.
00:51:16There's still so much I want to do.
00:51:31So this kid,
00:51:33you know, is that a stopper?
00:51:35I don't know.
00:51:36But I hope so.
00:51:39What the fuck?
00:51:43You see her?
00:51:44Yeah, I see her.
00:51:45Do you?
00:51:49This way.
00:51:50This way.
00:51:52This way.
00:51:53This way.
00:51:54This way.
00:51:55This way.
00:51:56This way.
00:51:57This way.
00:51:58This way.
00:51:59This way.
00:52:29This way.
00:52:59This way.
00:53:00This way.
00:53:01This way.
00:53:02This way.
00:53:03This way.
00:53:04This way.
00:53:05This way.
00:53:06This way.
00:53:07This way.
00:53:08This way.
00:53:09This way.
00:53:10This way.
00:53:11This way.
00:53:12This way.
00:53:13This way.
00:53:14This way.
00:53:15This way.
00:53:16This way.
00:53:17This way.
00:53:18This way.
00:53:19This way.
00:53:20This way.
00:53:21This way.
00:53:22This way.
00:53:23This way.
00:53:24This way.
00:53:25This way.
00:53:26This way.
00:53:27This way.
00:53:28This way.
00:53:54Come on.
00:53:58What the fuck?
00:53:59I can't.
00:54:00I can't.
00:54:01I can't.
00:54:03I can't.
00:54:06I can't.
00:54:08I can't.
00:54:33Hello, there is an inmate from a correctional facility who needs you to accept a collect
00:54:40call and associated charges.
00:54:42Say yes or hit the number 1 on your keypad to accept.
00:54:46Say no or hit the number 2 on your keypad to decline.
00:54:51Yes.
00:54:54Hi.
00:54:56I'm sorry, we haven't spoken in a while.
00:54:58No.
00:55:00This isn't going to work.
00:55:02I've met someone.
00:55:04We've lived together.
00:55:07And I didn't mean to hurt you.
00:55:10I should have told you earlier, but I was scared.
00:55:15Things are really messed up right now.
00:55:19And I just wanted to say that I wish you well.
00:55:25I really do.
00:55:28I know you'll do good once you get out of there.
00:55:33Take care of yourself.
00:55:36I wish things were different, but they're not.
00:56:29Maeve, I don't know what to say.
00:56:34She's coming for us.
00:56:39I don't know what we're supposed to do.
00:56:42I don't know what we're supposed to do.
00:56:51Hey, guys.
00:56:53I'm sorry about Lydia.
00:56:58I don't know what we're supposed to do.
00:57:01I don't know where we should go.
00:57:04I do.
00:57:28There he is.
00:57:59Hello, sir.
00:58:01Eli, is it?
00:58:04Eli.
00:58:06Is it?
00:58:07Who's inquiring?
00:58:09Mr. Miller.
00:58:10We don't mean to be a bother, but we have a few...
00:58:12You're already a bother, and I suggest you leave now.
00:58:16Are you related to Clara Miller?
00:58:23Who wants to know?
00:58:25Who wants to know?
00:58:27It's important.
00:58:29We're only going to take a small moment of your time.
00:58:32We're students at Crary College.
00:58:35We've been researching the county, mainly suicides since the late 1800s.
00:58:40That's a little on the dark side, eh, boy?
00:58:43Sir, your family's been living here for centuries.
00:58:49Well, my family's lived here a long while.
00:58:53All are buried across the field there.
00:58:58All but one.
00:59:01Clara.
00:59:05My great-granddaddy, so I'm told.
00:59:10He was some kind of evil.
00:59:14God-fearing, yet evil.
00:59:18The truth will set you free, he used to say.
00:59:25Doesn't make much sense, does it?
00:59:31So tell me, what are you all really here for?
00:59:37Mr. Miller, this is going to sound crazy, but...
00:59:40Claire's coming after us.
00:59:42Well, that's what Clara does, little lady.
00:59:48Seems like you've done your homework.
00:59:51About every ten years or so,
00:59:54somebody tracks me down,
00:59:57asking about Aunt Clara.
01:00:00They don't usually get very far.
01:00:03So you know?
01:00:05About Aunt Clara's displeasure with the unfaithful?
01:00:09Seems like you all made your bed.
01:00:11Is there a way to stop her?
01:00:13Mr. Miller, please! Please!
01:00:15No, time for you to leave.
01:00:17Please.
01:00:18Knife, let's go.
01:00:19Time to go.
01:00:20Please.
01:00:21Let's go.
01:00:22I suggest you go now.
01:00:24I'm leaving.
01:00:25Let's go.
01:00:26Come on.
01:00:27We'll find a way.
01:00:28Let's go.
01:00:39Wait!
01:00:52Aunt Clara,
01:00:54this has been going on long enough.
01:00:57Forgive me.
01:01:03You'll know what to do with this.
01:01:10I don't get it.
01:01:12You'll know what to do with it.
01:01:14What, so we just slit her throat like her father did
01:01:17and she just goes away forever?
01:01:19Yeah, as if it's that easy.
01:01:21It's not just slit her throat.
01:01:23Then what is it, then?
01:01:25We have to decapitate her.
01:01:27And then we have to bury her head and her body
01:01:30inside the coffin.
01:01:32And then what?
01:01:33And then what?
01:01:34And then what?
01:01:35And then what?
01:01:36And then what?
01:01:37And then we have to bury her head and her body
01:01:39in separate locations.
01:01:41How do you know this?
01:01:42I don't.
01:01:43It's just the best interpretation of what I've read.
01:01:47And who's gonna do that?
01:01:52Fuck me dead.
01:01:53We're already dead.
01:01:55Except for Ollie.
01:01:56Just because she's not after me doesn't mean I can't help.
01:01:59I can't let you do that.

01:02:09There's a warehouse outside of town.
01:02:11It'll be a bit cold, but it's big.
01:02:13And if we put her out in the middle...
01:02:15Yeah, then maybe I can sneak up from behind
01:02:17and do my best to decapitate her.
