00:00Hi, congratulations to both of you on the film. Thank you so much
00:02So a lot of people always are about Tim Burton as a stylized director and Douglas like his visuals
00:08But always been curious about him as an actor's director. How does he direct the actors? How does have you fight your character?
00:12What those conversations like?
00:14They're super. I mean silly and loose and he kind of doesn't put too much pressure on you. You know, he
00:20Trusted people that he works with so he'll have all the conversations that you feel you need to have
00:25But he does like to give space as well to let you kind of figure it out
00:29Throughout your own ideas. He's not like super strict on anything. It's just very malleable and
00:35very considerate
00:37But I mean also you always want to go with you find yourself because he creates such a world kind of going
00:43In the direction that maybe he sees fit anyway. Oh, no, he knows what he wants
00:47Yeah, but he's no he makes you feel like he's totally open to your ideas and he is he actually uses them and laughs
00:53and
00:55And if he doesn't want to use it, it'll give you a good reason but he gets it on film
00:58He can cut it later. He knows that
01:01but also leading up to doing
01:03the movies he's just
01:05There's he'll talk forever about your character and where it's going and why it's funny or why it means something or you know
01:13What this person's going through he's very open that way and when you're shooting
01:17He is
01:19Extremely visual and an amazing artist, but he will never force your character
01:25You know to do anything that doesn't feel right to you, you know always ask what how do you feel, you know, it's just
01:30really
01:32collaborative and and
01:34Exciting and fun. He's very playful
01:37Was it was there a moment where you're working with these, you know
01:39It's the standing wild sets and these creatures and the costume monsters that are actually there was really refreshing to see but oh, yeah
01:45How is how did impact the performances and were able to actually interact with all these things that are actually there?
01:51Well because yeah because everything was practical
01:53Yeah, you were working with them, you know a man whose face was burned off or you know
01:58Santa Claus had you know falling down the chimney and you know been caught on fire, you know
02:03It was you were seeing all of it in real time. So it was it was amazing
02:07It made it gives you everything you need so much better than like a
02:11Piece of green screen piece of tape on the floor or tennis ball. It's just um, yeah, it kind of inspires you
02:18It's so refreshing to know what's gonna happen
02:19Oftentimes you sometimes you watch a movie back and you go. Oh, that was it. That's it. Yeah
02:26Was there a moment or sequence that like that truly surprised you was it? Oh, man, I how this happened
02:31What having a role this?
02:34Soul train sequence. Oh, yeah the train station in the afterlife was
02:39Unbelievable so bizarre
02:41The entire of all the dancers they just killed it. It was so really cool
02:46I want to remember that day forever and that the whole church and the musical number when I first heard they were doing
02:52That's the whole song
02:55And he just he's Tim just came up with so many levels of insanity in that number and
03:03and I mean but real stuff going on too with Lydia and Astrid and us it's just
03:10wild and great and surprising
03:16You
