00:00Speaker 2 Yesterday, a very, very big night in St. Louis for the San Diego Padres and
00:07their fan base because they beat the Cardinals with another comeback, a come from behind
00:12victory that actually came back twice. I believe yesterday, Jake Cronenworth with the go ahead
00:16RBI in the, I believe seventh or eighth inning and another kind of not so great performance
00:24by Dylan. See, since he's, since he's no hitter, he hasn't been terrible by any sorts of means,
00:29but he hasn't been the same since he threw the no hitter, which is maybe a talking point
00:36as we go forward. I mean, if you look at the numbers here, Brown, I don't want to start
00:40negative. It's just what kind of came up. He's wanted to, since the no hitter in four
00:44games started four, six, four ERA, they're hitting two 84 against them, which is the
00:48part that I have, you know, that's struck. That's kind of making me worry a little bit.
00:53If you're a Padres fan on the season, he's 12 and 10 with the three, five, seven ERA.
00:57He does lead all of baseball with 197 strikeouts. Is that something that you've kind of noticed
01:01or am I just nitpicking at this point of the season? Because every game matters.
01:07I wouldn't necessarily draw too much into that Dylan. He's has ups and downs in his
01:11audience. And I think this is one of those like sets of downtrends before he goes back
01:15up. I wouldn't attribute that to the no hitter because of the start after the no hitter,
01:20he was great. If I remember correctly. So what I, what I see from Dylan season, specifically
01:26what I saw last night, Dylan sees, even though when he doesn't have his a game, he still
01:29gives you a chance to win. And that is what I think is more of a function of the success
01:37of the team has been this year is that when, even when Dylan seeds did not have his a stuff
01:42last night, he didn't get blown off the mound. He didn't get blown out the building. And
01:47that's what I need from guys who are competing and a playoff race like they're doing right
01:52now. And so I didn't, I don't see Dylan ceases. I'm going to even call it lack of success.
01:57I would say I don't see Dylan ceases effectiveness being hurt by the no hitter. I just think
02:06he's had a couple of starts where he's trying to find his rhythm and he just really didn't
02:11last night.
02:12Yeah. He went up against Miami, which was, that was his game or it was okay. Then Colorado
02:16at the Mets. And then last night and last night, it's kind of a wild card, man, because
02:20I know you can say, Hey, we play in every weather. It is what it is. But really when
02:24it, it makes a difference, man, especially as a pitcher, when you're a pitcher and you're
02:29throwing, you know, a hundred pitches in that weather, it makes a difference. You're not
02:32going to be your normal self there. That's just a straight fact. You can, you can tell
02:36the media, whatever you want, which Dylan did not make an excuse by any means. He's
02:40like, yeah, it was hot, but it's not why I struggled today.
02:44Every team has to play in something, but like if you're in New York, you have to get used
02:51to playing in a little bit of colder temperature. But if it's snowing, that's an extreme, nobody
02:55has an advantage and a heat like that, their pitcher has to throw too. This is an extreme.
03:02So I don't, I wouldn't, I wouldn't necessarily chalk anything up yesterday to other, other
03:08than it being a game in a long season where your starter didn't give you his best, but
03:13this is when the other guys come out and do their thing, a guy throwing a no hitter, he's
03:17carried the weight. Now guys, what, what happened yesterday, guys picked them up, guys
03:22pick them up. And that's what this team has really been doing lately after the all-star
03:25break.
03:26That's exactly what, you know, I was watching MLB network this morning and they were having
03:31a conversation about the best bullpens in baseball and the consensus. It wasn't unanimous
03:37by any means, you know, Cleveland got thrown in there, but the Padres according to LV network
03:44have the best record or the best bullpen in baseball. And yesterday, when you look
03:49at who came in, yeah. Hoeing gave up a home run to Goldschmidt. Then Matsui perfect Estrada
03:57gave up a hit. Adam gave up a hit and Scott came in and closed it out. So you did it without
04:03Robert Suarez. Who's been pitching a lot of innings this year, but that's exactly what
04:07AJ Preller went out and did. And when other people, me said that it wasn't necessarily
04:14on my list of most necessary things on the team, he saw what this team needed. He went
04:18out, revamped that bullpen and now look at them, you know, when it sees only goes four
04:22and a third and the bullpen only gives up, you know, one over the next four and two thirds.
04:27That's a big, big advantage that the Padres have over a lot of teams in baseball.
