00:00Well, it's still extremely windy here.
00:05After about 2 o'clock yesterday, Melbourne was hit with this huge storm and overnight
00:09the SES has been extremely busy responding to calls for assistance.
00:13In the Alpine regions, they recorded wind speeds of up to 130 kilometres an hour and
00:18just outside this residence here, they woke up at around 5am this morning to see this
00:22branch fallen on their roof.
00:25Now the SES has responded to around 670 calls as of 9.30am this morning, 531 of those were
00:32because of trees down and 97 associated with building damage.
00:36They say that the busiest areas were in Emerald, Warragul and Upper Yarra and they also mentioned
00:42that the power is still out for around 6,800 residents across the state.
00:47Now just earlier we were in Boronia where the SES was fixing the power poles after a
00:52tree had gone down in that area.
00:55Glen Waverley as well this morning had a tree in a house that had fallen right through the
00:59lounge room.
01:00Luckily nobody was injured.
01:02Now the advice to the SES is the same as it has been this morning which is to take care
01:06on roads and avoid any debris and they'll be giving us another update at around 2.30.
