Southern and South-eastern Australia have been experiencing some wild weather this week. The Bureau of Meteorology says we can expect clearer skies in the near future.

00:00Overnight and into this morning we've seen the vast majority of the severe thunderstorms
00:06both weaken and move away from the country.
00:09So the areas that were getting hit quite hard on Friday through Victoria and New South Wales
00:13in particular, for those places the threat today has passed as those thunderstorms have
00:19eased and moved away.
00:20So there are no longer any severe thunderstorm warnings, which we had all through the day
00:23yesterday and into the night as well, and the severe weather warnings have finished
00:27as well.
00:28There are a couple of slightly smaller warnings still in place.
00:31There is a coastal hazard warning or a hazardous surf warning in place I should say for parts
00:35of the New South Wales coast, but there's still some big waves along the eastern side
00:39of the country, and in the wake of yesterday's rainfall there's a couple of minor flood warnings
00:44in place.
00:45So that is the Kiwa River, which is in north-east Victoria, and the North Esk River, which is
00:49in north-east Tasmania.
00:52Those are just the two rivers with elevated river levels at the moment.
00:54So across those southeastern areas, so Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and ACT, the thunderstorm
01:00threat has passed.
01:01We could still see a few further showers and some cool winds, particularly this morning,
01:06but from this afternoon or this evening onwards we have several calmer, more settled days,
01:11with some sunshine coming in as well, getting quite warm actually through the first half
01:14of next week.
