00:00Why do you think you'd be a good hire for this bank?
00:01Well, I'm ready to work hard, and when I put my mind to something, I go all the way.
00:06Welcome to Mizmojo, and today we're counting down familiar locations or sets
00:11for a different production.
00:13But the fact is, you do not have the assets to justify this loan. I'm sorry.
00:20Number 10. Wilmington, North Carolina, One Tree Hill, and Dawson's Creek.
00:26I'm not doing it.
00:27You have to. It's good PR.
00:29It's humiliating.
00:30Although set in the fictional town of Capeside, Massachusetts,
00:34the majority of Dawson's Creek was filmed in and around Wilmington, North Carolina.
00:39As such, it was responsible for the city seeing a boost in tourism
00:43and an influx of productions using Wilmington for filming their projects,
00:48one of which was One Tree Hill.
00:50What does it mean?
00:51Don't you guys ever think that maybe we belong here?
00:54No.
00:55Dawson's Creek ended its run on The WB in 2003,
00:59and the same year the network introduced us to the Scott Brothers and One Tree Hill.
01:04While reintroducing us to a number of locations and sets,
01:08these include the Boardwalk, Cape Fear Memorial Bridge,
01:12and Rachel Gutina's house, which had been Chris Wolfe's house on the creek.
01:18TV is that way. Jacuzzi and sauna are out back.
01:22We keep extra suits in the guest room.
01:23And, uh, kitchen's that way if you get hungry.
01:26Number 9. North Hollywood Medical Center.
01:29The Office and Scrubs.
01:31To be safe, we should do an x-ray.
01:32How long will that take?
01:33Well, it shouldn't be too bad. It's a slow day.
01:36Remember on The Office when Pam got injured playing volleyball
01:40and Jim took her to Sacred Heart Hospital, where JD checked her out?
01:44Okay, so that never actually happened, but the scene in question did connect the shows
01:50in one way most of us probably didn't pick up on at the time.
01:54Oh, Dwight, we're so close. Just buy us a few more minutes.
01:58Well, they just called me in for an update, so I'll call you right back.
02:01Okay. Okay, great.
02:02You see, the hospital Jim and Pam went to in that episode was the North Hollywood Medical Center,
02:08a decommissioned hospital that was used as the set in a number of movies and television shows,
02:14including every episode of the first eight seasons of Scrubs, except for the pilot.
02:20Listen up. Dr. Kelso has ruptured both his eardrums.
02:24You can say whatever you want to him as long as you got a smile on your face.
02:26Number 8. Hatfield House.
02:29Lara Croft, Tomb Raider, and Sherlock Holmes.
02:32Good morning, Lara, and what a beautiful morning it is.
02:36If someone asks you if you knew of the Hatfield House mansion in England,
02:40you'd likely answer no. But the truth is, if you've watched movies over the last few decades,
02:46you've probably seen it on screen multiple times,
02:49especially as the residence of one iconic hero or another.
02:54Live rounds again.
02:56Poor Simon.
02:57Hatfield was the set for the lavish Wayne Manor in 1989's Batman,
03:02and it also doubled as Croft Manor in 2001's Lara Croft, Tomb Raider.
03:08The gorgeous mansion also made another appearance on the silver screen
03:12as the headquarters of the Temple of the Four Orders in the 2009 flick Sherlock Holmes.
03:19Mr. Holmes, apologies for summoning you like this.
03:23I'm sure it's quite a mystery as to where you are and who I am.
03:27Number 7. Acton Lane Power Station.
03:30Aliens and Batman.
03:32All right, let's go, people. They ain't paying us by the hour. Let's go. Hit them out.
03:36Okay, Frost, you're driving.
03:38The giant Acton Lane Power Station was a London power station that closed down in 1983,
03:44but while it stopped generating electricity in the early 80s, it continued to generate
03:50Hollywood dreams as a setting for two of the most successful action films of the decade.
03:56Let's go, people. Hudson, you got the point. Hicks, watch our tails.
04:00First, in 1986, James Cameron came along and had the decaying asbestos in the plant
04:07professionally cleaned and used the station as an alien nest.
04:11Then, a few years later, Tim Burton looked at it and decided it would make for the perfect
04:17Axis Chemicals plant location for the birth of the Joker in the aforementioned 1989 Batman movie.
04:30Number 6. Quality Café, Mr. & Mrs. Smith & 7.
04:36I think I got ID'd on that hit. You been ID'd on a hit?
04:39Since 2014, 1236 West 7th Street in Los Angeles, California, has been the address of a bar of the
04:47Terragram Ballroom. But for decades prior to 2006, it was the location of the Quality Café,
04:55an L.A. diner where a whole bunch of movies and television shows film scenes,
05:00including two Brad Pitt films, Mr. & Mrs. Smith & 7.
05:04No trouble. You get a look at him?
05:06In the former, Pitt sits at the bar with Vince Vaughn discussing a failed assassination,
05:12while in the latter, Pitt's movie wife Gwyneth Paltrow sits in a booth with
05:17his partner Morgan Freeman and tells him she's pregnant with Pitt's child.
05:22Why don't you tell me what's really bothering you, Tracy?
05:27David and I are gonna have a baby.
05:29Number 5. Bank of America Building, The Wedding Singer and Spider-Man 2.
05:34Do you have any experience?
05:36No, sir, I have no experience, but I'm a big fan of money. I like it.
05:40Although they are very different people, Robbie Hart from The Wedding Singer
05:44and Dr. Octopus from Spider-Man 2 have at least one thing in common. They both like money.
05:51One of the ways they differ, however, is that while Robbie wants to work to make money,
05:56Dr. Oct prefers stealing it.
06:04Although they do both bring their differing money-making philosophies
06:09to the same financial institution, the old Bank of America Building at 650 South Spring Street
06:16in Los Angeles. This building has played the part of a bank in a number of movies,
06:21including the aforementioned The Wedding Singer and Spider-Man 2.
06:26I have a little. I keep it in a jar on top of my refrigerator.
06:29I'd like to put more in that jar. That's where you come in.
06:32Number 4. The Prince, Mad Men and New Girl.
06:36I don't know what it is. That card does nothing for me.
06:39It's because you're happy you don't need it.
06:41Did you know that Mad Men and New Girl both film scenes at the same Korean-style fried
06:47chicken restaurant? Don't feel bad if you have no memory of Don Draper or Nick Miller
06:53chowing down on some crispy legs, because while The Prince is a decently reviewed restaurant,
06:59it makes for an awesome retro-style bar setting, which is how it's actually portrayed on screen.
07:06Well, congratulations.
07:09For what?
07:12For getting divorced.
07:13And we've definitely seen Don and Nick knock back a few while surrounded by that oh-so-recognizable
07:20wallpaper and retro decor, much of it dating back to when the place opened in 1949.
07:27It didn't become a Korean chicken joint until 1991.
07:32Can I get a beer and, uh...
07:34Your number?
07:35Actually, I...
07:35This woman is engaged. Her number belongs to God now.
07:38Number 3. John Marshall High School, Pretty in Pink and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
07:44What the hell were you doing going to school today for anyway?
07:47High school can be scary, but for the teens studying at Springwood High
07:51School in A Nightmare on Elm Street, the hallways could be deadly.
07:56And while there were no bloody bodies being dragged down the halls at Pretty in Pink's
08:00Meadowbrook High School, Ducky did get in a few good punches on Steph before they were pulled apart.
08:13You got a problem, friend?
08:16Both of those violent scenes took place in the halls of John Marshall High School,
08:20a public Los Angeles institution that has been used as the educational setting
08:25for numerous movies and television shows.
08:28It's not worth it, man. I told you it wasn't gonna work, you know?
08:31The girl was, is, and will always be nada.
08:34Number 2. Randy's Donuts.
08:36Iron Man 2 and Earth Girls are easy.
08:40Sir, I'm gonna have to ask you to exit the donut.
08:43When it comes to giant donut signs, you might think the most recognisable one in popular culture
08:49is the one in front of Lard Lad Donuts on The Simpsons.
08:52But a real-life iconic sign is at Randy's Donuts in Inglewood, California.
08:58Which you've seen if you've watched the 1988 science fiction rom-com Earth Girls Are Easy,
09:04or the 2010 MCU movie Iron Man 2.
09:08I'm sorry, I don't want to get off on the wrong foot. Do I look at the patch or the eye?
09:12In Iron Man 2, the large donut is a place where our hero can find a little peace and quiet
09:17to enjoy his breakfast.
09:19While in Earth Girls Are Easy, there's no peace and quiet,
09:23as a couple of aliens drive a car off the highway and crash it into the large donut hole.
09:41Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honourable mentions.
09:46The living room. Mike and Molly and Roseanne.
09:49They squared off most of the arched openings, but the similarities are hard to miss.
09:54Mike, don't worry. I don't see Carl that way. We're just friends, that's it.
09:58Thanks.
10:01One less thing to wonder about.
10:04Little Europe, The Princess Diaries 2 Royal Engagement, and The Good Place.
10:09The Little Europe section of the Universal lot was both The Good Place and Genovia.
10:15People are coming from all over Genovia.
10:18Each one contains exactly 322 people who have been
10:22perfectly selected to blend together into a blissful, harmonic balance.
10:27Various locations, Gilmore Girls, and Pretty Little Liars.
10:32Yes, it's true. Luke Steiner became the Apple Rose Grill.
10:48Why would we? We haven't done anything wrong.
10:51Torrance High School, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Beverly Hills 90210.
10:56West Beverly Hills High School had more rich kids.
10:59Sunnydale High had more vampires.
11:18The Rubio House. This is us and 7th Heaven.
11:22It's Randall's house, but it was the Camden's family house on 7th Heaven first.
11:48to be notified for occasional videos or all of them.
11:51If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
11:57Number 1. Greystone Mansion, Star Trek Into Darkness, and The Muppets.
12:03Where am I? Okay, this is awesome. We're at Kermit's house.
12:09The Greystone Mansion, aka the Doheny Mansion, was built in 1928 by oil magnate Edward L. Doheny
12:18as a gift to his son.
12:20Since 1965, the estate has been owned by the city of Beverly Hills, and over the ensuing decades,
12:26it has been the location for many a movie and TV show seeking a residence
12:31that exudes wealth and social prominence.
12:34Listen, not right now, 80s robot, please.
12:37Bummer. Oh, gag me with a spoon.
12:40A head for the door.
12:41Brody to the max.
12:42It's where the Winklevoss twins meet Prince Albert,
12:45and where Kermit the Frog wanders around in lonely solitude, remembering the good old days.
12:51And in a somewhat out of left field move, with the help of some impressive CGI,
12:57the almost 100-year-old mansion was used as the site of the Royal Children's Hospital
13:03hundreds of years in the future in Star Trek Into Darkness.
13:08What did you say?
13:10Your daughter. I can save her.
13:14Which doubled location did you recognize right away? Let us know in the comments.
13:20We've secured the perimeter, but I don't think we should hold it for too much longer.
