Transcript
00:00all in a pawn shop here locally.
00:02And we're gonna find out if I'm gonna make money
00:04on these games or if I'm losing money by what I paid.
00:07And this is called none other than Retro Gaming,
00:11finding the games for under 20 bucks.
00:13It's on a budget, baby.
00:14So without further ado,
00:16me and the old Spock Bunny are gonna be here.
00:18And as you see, I've got some games pulled up here
00:20on E-Star Land, but let's talk about it first.
00:24Hey, Spock Bunny, why don't you pull your mic close
00:26and say hi to everybody out there today?
00:29Hello, beautifuls.
00:31Excellent.
00:32So how are you doing today?
00:34Tired.
00:35I know, you've been working all day.
00:36You've been working really hard.
00:37Yeah, you're still going at it for some reason.
00:39I don't understand.
00:41So the other day I asked you to send me
00:43a little bit of money.
00:44I asked you to send me $10 and I put my $10 with it
00:47and that became a $20 total.
00:49So, and what I got here was $2 a game
00:54for each game that I've gotten.
00:55As you saw, I had a list that was up above.
00:57And if we head over to the live scene,
00:59we're gonna see what I picked up,
01:01all the games that I picked up,
01:02and we're gonna see if we made money.
01:04Now this is original Xbox, OG Xbox games on a budget.
01:08Now I had $20 total to spend.
01:10I spent $2 on all these games.
01:12Let's get right into it, shall we?
01:15I don't know.
01:16We're gonna find out.
01:19I get to meet you or do I get to love on you?
01:21The first one is gonna be MLB Slugfest,
01:23as you see right here.
01:25So use complete inbox for the original Xbox.
01:28It's gonna go for $5 and 46 cents.
01:31Now I spent $2 on this game.
01:33So with use no manual, it's $3 and 28 cents.
01:36And guess what?
01:37I have got the manual
01:38and I've got some little extras here, right here.
01:41Let me go back to the just chatting screen here.
01:45Boom, look at that bad boy.
01:47It's got a rental sticker on it.
01:50So this was a rental game.
01:51This probably thing had more abuse than your mom
01:53on a Tuesday at Nickel Knight at the Whorehouse, baby.
01:56I mean, this thing was going through it.
01:58So, but we got some scratching, not very bad.
02:03The case is in pretty decent shape.
02:05So overall, the outside of the case,
02:09it's got a sticker here that says $8.
02:11I paid $2 for this.
02:12So this was just a retroactive sticker that was going on.
02:16The discoloring is not really bad on it, Spock Bunny.
02:19I think that we did pretty good overall.
02:21We can get the 546 out of this
02:24is what that it's retailing for currently
02:26if we so decided to sell it.
02:27So for two bucks, we got a $3 and 46 cent surplus right now.
02:32We're managing it so far.
02:35So let's roll over to the next one here.
02:38So we've got on this big bad boy here,
02:40we've got MVP Baseball 2005.
02:43If you haven't figured it out,
02:44I like baseball and basketball.
02:46So I tried to collect them just a little much.
02:49This case is in really good shape.
02:51It even still has the Pro Long sticker on it,
02:54the MLB sticker on the front.
02:56So that's a really good sign.
02:58And it's not looks like it's been used very much.
03:00It does have the basic sell sticker for here for $6
03:03is what they were trying to get out of it
03:05a couple of years ago at Basic Video, but they didn't.
03:08We have a manual and we have the game on the inside as well.
03:12So that's a big plus, big, big plus.
03:15The game.
03:17People write in their cases like that.
03:19Yeah.
03:21Yeah, to a point it does, right?
03:23So.
03:27Yeah, yeah.
03:28So if they write on the disc,
03:28it definitely devalues the game value.
03:30You can get used value for drug under the bus,
03:33whatever that is.
03:34The cases are a little bit different.
03:36So if they write on the case, it will devalue it
03:38a little bit, but if you can get it off, it doesn't matter.
03:41And then sometimes from the factory,
03:43the games were numbered in the original series
03:45on the inside, like this has 685 on it.
03:48So that was the 685th copy of this game.
03:51So whoever was manufacturing, put it in,
03:53that's what was going on there.
03:54And that's just a little tidbit,
03:56like Xbox was really bad about that back in the day
03:59is writing on the inside of them instead of printing
04:01or stamping it on the inside of them.
04:03That came later on in the three, six years
04:05that they started stamping the cases.
04:07So this one is original.
04:09So I wouldn't do anything different with it at all.
04:12But if they put like J-Rock or your mom's a whore
04:15or whatever on the inside,
04:17I would definitely devalue that
04:18and try to get you for the lowest for it.
04:20But Major League Baseball 2005
04:23definitely has some good stuff here.
04:25Got the manual with inside of it.
04:27The game's a little scratched up, not bad.
04:29It needs to be resurfaced.
04:30But overall, I mean, it's in great shape.
04:33So what we've got right here is,
04:35used completing box is $5.18 for the Xbox.
04:38I paid $2 for this.
04:39So I'm still $3.18 in the positive there.
04:43So as of right now, if you're counting,
04:45that is a grand total of $6.64
04:50that I'm in the positive right now.
04:53So that's good.
04:54We will be moving on.
04:56And I didn't show you that,
04:57but let me show you that real quick,
04:58if it'll pop back up to the live scene.
05:01For some reason, I didn't realize that I wasn't there,
05:02but right here is the MVP baseball for the original Xbox,
05:05$5.18.
05:07Use complete inbox.
05:09Use no manual, $3.45,
05:11and you can get a $1.50 trading value
05:13from East Ireland directly.
05:15So it's something that you guys can do direct and get going.
05:18If we move back over,
05:20I've got Conflict Desert Storm, the original,
05:24the original Desert Storm here.
05:26Now, this is a very interesting game
05:29because Conflict Vietnam is considered
05:32to be the most collectible in the series of these.
05:35Desert Storm did not sell as much, did not sell as good.
05:39And this is a brand new case.
05:41This was a replacement case.
05:42I can tell by the coloring on it,
05:44how green it is and how bright it is.
05:47This is one of the Murray cases that came later on,
05:50and it's an excellent shape.
05:52This one should have had a dongle like this on the inside,
05:56a little square dongle on the inside,
05:59but it doesn't.
06:00It has a two-piece dongle.
06:01So it was a later case that was added into this.
06:04So it's not gonna devalue the game at all,
06:06but it's been changed over and that it's in an Xbox case.
06:09It's not gonna devalue that at all.
06:11What it will do, however, is if you're a pure collector,
06:14you'll know exactly what you're looking at,
06:15what you're getting into.
06:17So Conflict Desert Storm here,
06:18the case is in immaculate condition.
06:21They had a $5 sticker on the bottom.
06:23I got it for $2, so I would still be in the positive,
06:26even if I was buying it direct from them.
06:29So let's roll over to the live scene here
06:31and we'll get that set up for you.
06:34So right here, the original one is what we're looking at.
06:37It's saying that it's $3.83 for use complete in-box,
06:42which is what we've got here, Spock Bunny.
06:44And then use with no manual, $3.15,
06:47no box, no manual, $2.79.
06:50So we're still in the positive on this, $1.83.
06:53So we've made some money so far just going forward
06:56and trying to make sure.
06:57What's up, man?
06:58How are y'all doing tonight?
06:59Hope y'all are having a good night
07:00wherever you guys are at.
07:02We've made some money coming forward right here,
07:04just going through.
07:05And I'm gonna keep it on this screen
07:07because the next one I've got is Operation Desert Storm 2.
07:10So let me switch over to the live scene
07:12and then we'll come right back over here.
07:16So this one has some flaking,
07:18like it was held in some moisture.
07:20You can kind of see the case has got some ripples
07:22and stuff in it.
07:23So this was around a lot of moisture.
07:25It's not really gonna take away from the game's value
07:28unless it doesn't play.
07:30And once again, we've got a newer case,
07:32we've got complete in-box.
07:35I mean, just immaculate.
07:36They had $6 originally written down for this one.
07:40The disc on the inside is very good, very clean,
07:44very, very stouty.
07:46You can see it direct.
07:49Now let's head back over to the live scene for this one
07:51and we'll show you what it's worth.
07:54Now it's right here, right under the last one.
07:57Use complete in-box is $7.16.
07:59I paid two bucks for this, two bucks.
08:03So that's a $5.16, you know,
08:07surplus that I've made on this just from finding it today.
08:10You know, and that's an awesome thing.
08:12That's an awesome feeling.
08:13What do you have to say about that, Spock Bunny?
08:15Pretty good.
08:17So far, I think I am.
08:19I mean, I don't know.
08:20Am I really though?
08:22They can't hear you.
08:23You're not close enough.
08:24Yes.
08:25Yes, I am.
08:27Okay.
08:28So we're gonna be moving on.
08:30This next game is actually probably one of my favorites
08:32for the original Xbox.
08:34It was one that I played twice through
08:36and the mechanics on these older games are terrible,
08:39absolutely terrible.
08:40But I remember playing this quite a bit,
08:42trying to get it to gum through
08:44and trying to get it to work up.
08:45And that is Everything or Nothing 007.
08:49Now this one too was kept in some moisture.
08:51If you look, you can see the ripples,
08:53like right there on the top of the screen,
08:55on the top of the box there.
08:57And it goes back through.
08:58So this had a lot of moisture wherever it was kept.
09:01Like I said, it's complete.
09:02I mean, absolute complete in box.
09:05So that's getting harder to find.
09:08As these games get older, it's harder to find.
09:10The manual is harder to find.
09:11People are trying to rip them away for the games
09:13that were just pawned in pawn shops
09:16and pawned across America inside the big disc bands.
09:19And so they're trying to find everything
09:21and trying to keep it together.
09:22Now this is in a newer case as well.
09:25The case was swapped on this.
09:27It should have had a disc,
09:29like a Cloverleaf style disc on the inside,
09:32but it doesn't take away from it.
09:33Let's go and see where we're at on this bad boy today
09:37for Everything or Nothing.
09:40Now, right here, you can see Everything or Nothing,
09:42the Xbox version that I've got in my hand.
09:45Used complete in box is $7.60.
09:48We're still $5.60 in the plus on this bad boy.
09:51So that's two, four, six, eight, $10 total.
09:55And I am coming out on top right now.
09:58And that's used complete in box with Everything.
10:00So we're doing pretty good today so far
10:03on the stuff that we've picked up.
10:05Now, the next game I picked up,
10:06I've only seen it a couple times.
10:08Now, it was everywhere when I was a kid.
10:10I remember seeing it in Walmart, like constantly,
10:13and the Xbox was pushing it constantly when I was younger.
10:17But as I got older, it's like the collectors
10:20have really started picking this game up
10:21and it's really become harder to find.
10:25I've seen it in my case twice
10:27since we've been going to McKay's in six months.
10:29But I haven't seen a whole lot of them.
10:31I've only seen two copies of this.
10:33And this was in a pawn shop locally.
10:35And the game art on it is in terrible condition,
10:39as you see right up here where my finger is moving.
10:41It's got some bad stuff going there.
10:43But it's in the original case.
10:45It's in the original slotting of it.
10:48But it has been worn.
10:50This case has been moved.
10:51It's been through some stuff.
10:52It's been through some stuff.
10:54I mean, it's really been through it.
10:55But it is complete in box.
10:57That is Aeon Flux, or A-E-O-N-F-L-U-X.
11:03And the game itself is in pretty good condition
11:07for what it is.
11:08It has a couple of scratches that could come out
11:10with a good resurfacing or a good buffer
11:14that could be taking place with it.
11:16But I mean, the manual is what really,
11:19really makes this thing shine.
11:20I mean, the manual's hardly been used.
11:22It's hardly been opened.
11:24So it's in very good shape
11:26for the manual directly going into it.
11:29But like I said, it's starting to get
11:32extremely harder to find this game.
11:36And when you do find it,
11:37you normally will find the cases are in bad shape
11:40or the artwork on the inside's in bad shape
11:42or it's missing a manual,
11:43just like we were talking about earlier,
11:44a lot of the pawn shop stuff where people were just-
11:46Why is it becoming harder to find?
11:48Well, I'm not sure if it's because
11:52that people are buying them and hoarding them
11:54or if the opposite is true,
11:56if people have sold them and people are realizing
12:00that they're not selling them
12:01and they're just dumping them, trashing them.
12:03The famous thing with ET for Atari was
12:06is they built so many of them and it was such a bad game
12:08that they ended up just putting them in the landfills
12:11after a period of time.
12:12And I hate to say that with Xbox
12:14and some of the games that they created,
12:16but some of them, that's how it's starting to go.
12:18That's how it's starting to look.
12:20So I really, I think that the other part of it
12:24is the collectability of things.
12:25Some things are starting to get a little bit higher priced
12:28than what they were.
12:29Like a couple of years ago,
12:30this would have been like 99 cents retail,
12:33complete 99 cent retail.
12:35And today, use no manual.
12:37So with the manual, it'd be higher,
12:38but use no manual at $7.50.
12:41So you're looking probably $10 to $15 for the game,
12:44somewhere in that price range,
12:45roughly with a use complete in box.
12:47Doesn't matter what the artwork looks like.
12:49It's complete in box.
12:50It's got everything going with it.
12:51So between $10 to $15, roughly brand new,
12:54$7.50, use no manual,
12:56and you can get a $6.50 trade-in value for it
13:00if you were to trade it in currently.
13:02So they're kind of holding their value on these games
13:04because like I said, they're becoming harder to find.
13:09I don't think that this had a low print run.
13:12There are some games that did for the system.
13:17I think that the low print run games
13:19that were available for the Xbox
13:22were a lot of the import games
13:23that we're not seeing anymore.
13:24There are a few that are out there,
13:26like Mecha Assault, for instance.
13:28And the reason Mecha Assault was so low of a print
13:31was because of all the hardware that you had to have for it.
13:34So, and that's not a lie.
13:36You had to have like 20 pieces to play this game.
13:38They made it like the inside of a cockpit.
13:40You know, you had to have the whole cockpit
13:42in order to play the game properly.
13:44And you were spending 100 to $150 a piece.
13:47Then you could spend almost $15,000 a piece now
13:52for those pieces.
13:53So some of those games have become a lot more rare
13:55as they've come up.
13:56Some of it's due to the age
13:58and people have just thrown them away.
14:00People are trading, the people that are trading them in,
14:03like GameStop is real bad for it.
14:06If they think that a game's not worth nothing anymore,
14:08they're not gonna make any money
14:09instead of sending it to the home office
14:10and letting it sit on a shelf and letting somebody buy it,
14:13they'll just throw it out.
14:15And you've got other companies like DK Oldies,
14:18like E-Star Land that are trying to buy these games back
14:21and trying to get the trade-in value back for them
14:24so that you can get your money out of them
14:25and that they can be preserved.
14:27But there are a lot of people who just look at it.
14:29And then you got like the average granny
14:31who their kids have grown up, their grandkids have grown up,
14:34and now the Xbox is just sitting there
14:36and it's doing absolutely nothing.
14:38And they know nothing about it
14:39other than they paid $200 for it in 99, 2000.
14:43You know what I mean?
14:45So now they're, well, 2001,
14:47but they're trying to get their money back out of it.
14:50And if they can't get back out of it,
14:52they're just trying to trash them and get rid of them too.
14:54A lot of the problems that you have with the consoles
14:57is the disk trays stop working over time
15:00and you have to put a new disk tray in.
15:01Or the clock capacitor is well-known.
15:05The clock capacitor goes bad on them.
15:06It blows acid all over the board
15:08and then it kills the board
15:09if you don't get them taken care of in proper time.
15:12So they made revisions to it over the years,
15:14trying to get that taken care of.
15:16So that's part of it.
15:17I mean, there's a lot of other things.
15:20Like Africa, one of those games
15:23that was released for PlayStation 3.
15:26And Siberia, some of the Siberia, Siberia 2 games,
15:29which were original Dreamcast games that were ported over.
15:33Those games are a little bit more rare
15:35because there was not a high-print copy of those.
15:39There is a, it's not Fable, but it's very similar to Fable.
15:43And I can't think of the name right now,
15:44but it only had like 6,000 copies total released on the game
15:49because they didn't think it was gonna go over
15:50and it was actually one of the hits that went over
15:53and they ended up doing a second run on it
15:55later on in the life.
15:58Right, right.
15:59So, I mean, it's give and take on both ends.
16:01You just have to look at it on both ends
16:03and see what's there.
16:04But yes, and in flux, $7.50 without a manual.
16:08And then we have got two of the best ones yet to come.
16:12So, we can hit one of them directly
16:14off of this screen here.
16:15And as you see, it's gonna be X-Men's Legends 2.
16:18Let me go over to the big screen here for you
16:20so you can see that direct.
16:23X-Men's Legend 2, The Rise of the Apocalypse.
16:27This one is just starting to get older.
16:28Now, this was a original EB game or GameStop game
16:32because of the yellow tag that's on the top,
16:34as you can see, and it was used.
16:35This is one of the used tags that they were selling it for.
16:40For $5.99 back in the day, it's got the used tag there.
16:43And that's the only thing I hate about these
16:45is these tags are so hard to come off once they go on.
16:50They weren't thinking about the preservation purposes
16:53for these things and what was gonna be happening
16:55if a collector wanted it to be an original condition.
16:58You can't hardly scrape these things off
17:00without having Gooby Gone or something
17:02because it just ruins it.
17:06Yeah, Gooby Gone, alcohol, something like that.
17:09But it just ruins the game.
17:10It can, but if you use the Gooby Gone stuff,
17:14it'll make it smell really bad,
17:17at least the alcohol wipes will.
17:19We can't hear you, baby.
17:20You're too far away from the microphone.
17:21Can you hear me?
17:22I can hear you now.
17:23Sorry, but if you use the Gooby Gone,
17:25it will make it smell weird
17:29versus what you would use the alcohol prep wipes.
17:32Just keep doing it.
17:33Or if you get hand sanitizer from Bath & Body Works
17:37or something like that, you can use that too.
17:40Yeah, and it will preserve it a little bit better
17:43and keep the original case in its nice preservation state
17:48versus what they've got it here.
17:50Now, as you see, it came with the manual,
17:52came with the game.
17:52The game is, and I'm actually gonna tell you
17:56about this here in a second.
17:58The games for most of these from this pawn shop
18:02came in a white sleeve.
18:04They weren't even in the case.
18:06They were in a white sleeve, a white carbon sleeve.
18:09So most of these games were resurfaced already.
18:11Some of them need to be resurfaced,
18:13but that is a big plus, man, for me whenever I see that.
18:17It lets me know that whoever had it
18:19was at least trying to take care of this stuff
18:21and trying to move through.
18:22And as you see, oh yeah, absolutely.
18:25As you see on the live screen right here,
18:28we've got X-Men Legends for the Xbox right there.
18:33Used with no box is $9.38 for no box.
18:38I used no manual with a box is $7.50.
18:42And as you see, let's go above and below.
18:44So PSP is $14.70.
18:47The GameCube is $27.95 for complete.
18:51PlayStation 2 is $21.95.
18:54And I value this at about $20 for the Xbox.
18:57Use complete in box, about $20 is what you can expect
19:00to pay for this game.
19:02If you find everything with it, I got it for two bucks.
19:05Now, like I said, they're only showing the used no box
19:07because they don't have any examples of it there.
19:09But as you see above, it's gonna hold in the $20 range
19:12no matter what you do or where you go.
19:15So, and that's used no manual for the PSP.
19:18If it has no manual, it's $14.70.
19:20So with the manual, you're looking at about $20
19:22on that one as well, 2022, somewhere in that range.
19:25But I'm gonna value this at about $20.
19:28So I am still on top of where I need to be currently
19:32for our little pricing.
19:35And our last game is actually gonna be an X-Men game too.
19:38As you see X-Men Legends, boom, right there.
19:40The Legends game is what we've got.
19:43And this is the Platinum Hits Edition,
19:44but I did not get a manual with it.
19:47I'm a little upset about that,
19:49but that's just part of the game that you play.
19:51This one's been resurfaced as well,
19:53and it did come in a nice white sleeve as well.
19:57So I did get to see that there.
19:58Now I paid $2 for this game, $2 and $2 only.
20:03Use complete in box is $9.20, $7.48 is what it's going for
20:10without the manual.
20:11So that's what I've got here, $7.48.
20:13I paid $2 for this game.
20:15So guys, I'm telling you, it's out there.
20:17Money is out there for you to find in the gaming world.
20:20You just have to know what you're looking for
20:21and where you're looking for it
20:23and where you can find this stuff.
20:25I found all of these games at the same pawn shop,
20:28the same pawn shop that I went to previously.
20:31They didn't have these games before
20:33and magically they turned up
20:35and it didn't matter what was going on.
20:37They took them on pawn, somebody didn't get them out
20:40and they came off to the floor
20:41and this is what I ended up picking up this week.
20:44So let's count it here.
20:45Let's see what I've got here.
20:47I got two, four, six, eight, 10, 12, 14.
20:50I got $16 total, $16 total in my investment
20:55and I picked up about $40 worth of investment,
20:59just from $16.
21:00So that's doubling my money on the stuff that I paid
21:04if I try to get retail out of it
21:05and I know I could get retail out of it
21:07if I put it on eBay or put it somewhere
21:09and showed pictures of everything, I definitely could.
21:11And if I bundled it, I could make more.
21:13So it's just depending on what you wanna do with this
21:16is how you're gonna make money on it.
21:17And like I said, this is original Xbox on a budget.
21:20Under 20 bucks today, guys, we paid $16,
21:23we're $4 in the positive
21:25on what we would originally spend on it.
21:27And look how we came out, man, almost $40 worth of value.
21:31Spock Bunny, what do you have to say, baby?
21:34Go out, look for treasures
21:37because you never know what you'll find
21:39and play, play, play.
21:41Go out, look for treasures and play, play, play, baby.
21:44That's what you have to say?
21:45Awesome.
21:46So I've gotta tell you,
21:49with the Spock Bunny backing me this week,
21:51I think we came out in the positive,
21:53I think we're doing well
21:54and I think that we'll continue to be hunting
21:56on our next episode.
21:57Now, you guys may have seen the PlayStation 3 on a budget
22:00that we did earlier today
22:01or that I did earlier today by myself
22:03without the Spock Bunny,
22:04but I'm gonna try to include her in more stuff
22:06as we go along.
22:08But I have got tons of games,
22:10tons and tons of games over here
22:12that I have not shown you all.
