00:00Useful Railway
00:04Sometimes, Thomas brings passengers up to Allsbury Junction, where they can ride on the mini-engines of the Miniature Railway.
00:16Hello Bert! Hello Mike!
00:20Oh, hello Rex!
00:25Hello Thomas!
00:27Thomas likes the miniature engines, his passengers do too, but they don't take the little railway very seriously.
00:35Oh, they're so cute! And so tiny!
00:39Oh, look Daddy! Look at them!
00:42I know! It's just like a toy railway, isn't it?
00:45A toy railway indeed! We're not a toy railway! We may be small, but we do a lot of heavy work and are really useful!
00:54Of course we are, Mike! Keep your steaming, they're only human!
00:59Rex is right, Mike. The passengers didn't mean to insult you.
01:05Mike is often grumpy. He loses his temper much too easily.
01:13Shoo! Shoo!
01:18What is the matter with you silly animals? Get out of the way!
01:24Some of us have work to do, you know!
01:31That night, in the sheds, Mike complained to Rex and Bert about the sheep.
01:37Sheep are nothing but trouble! I don't see the point of them silly things!
01:43They're silly, but they're useful too, Mike!
01:47Useful? Don't talk nonsense, Rex!
01:51It's true! Farmers sell their wool for people to make clothes from. You know, those things they wear instead of paint.
01:58Quite right, Rex!
02:00The engines were surprised to see that Mr Duncan, the small controller, had come to their shed.
02:07The farmers have asked us to take their wool to market.
02:11If we do it well, it will show everyone that we're a really useful railway. So, you must all do your best!
02:19I don't understand, sir! We can't drive sheep along the line! They wouldn't go straight!
02:25It's like what happened to Mike today!
02:27Don't be silly, Bert! We don't drive the sheep! We take their wool and bales on our trucks! This is an easy job!
02:38Easy? I don't know how easy it will be, Rex, but seeing as you seem to know all about it, you can take the first train.
02:48Thank you, sir! I'm telling you, it'll be easy-peasy!
02:53I bet it won't be easy!
02:56The next morning, Rex took some trucks and set out to collect the wool from the farmers.
03:07They started loading at the far end of the line.
03:10The wool from the sheep had been made into big bales that could be stacked on Rex's trucks.
03:17The farmers helped to tie them down.
03:22Rex stopped to load wool from each farm along the way.
03:39Nearly finished!
03:41I knew it would be easy! That's what I told Mike and Bert last night!
03:46Easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy!
03:49That's right!
03:52Only one more load and we're away!
03:57But Rex's driver didn't know that the last load belonged to Willie.
04:02Willie was one of the farmers, but he was often dawdling and always ended up running late.
04:12Oh, Willie! Your load's slipping!
04:15Oh, dear! But I can't stop now. I'm already late. I hope it'll hold.
04:21The load did hold, but not quite long enough.
04:33Oh, crumbs! That's torn it!
04:36It's Rex!
04:44I said it was easy! I said it was easy!
04:48Then everything happened at once.
04:51Rex! Rex! Watch out! Slow down!
04:57Stop! Stop!
05:00Stop! Stop!
05:22Rex!
05:31Rex!
05:42Oh, no!
05:45Oh, no!
05:48The small controller came to see what had happened.
05:52I'm sorry, sir. I tried to slow down, but I didn't realize the line was blocked until I passed under the bridge.
06:00Er, I lost control of the load. I took the corner too quickly and, well, I'm very sorry, Mr. Duncan.
06:11Don't tell me. Tell Rex.
06:14Sorry, Rex.
06:17Soon they sorted out Rex's trucks.
06:21Bert lost no time in taking them away to deliver the wool to market.
06:26I guess maybe pulling wool trains isn't as easy as it looks, eh, Rex?
06:35Poor Rex had to stay where he was. He didn't like it one bit.
06:43That looks like an easy job, all right. Lying there on the bank.
06:54I say! What happened here?
07:02Eventually they managed to hoist Rex back onto the rails.
07:07And Bert and Mike helped bring him home.
07:18I suppose that accident served me right for being so full of myself.
07:23No, it wasn't really your fault at all.
07:26It was that farmer, Willie.
07:29The small controller was in the yard when they arrived back at Allsbury Junction.
07:35Ah, Rex, you're back! Glad to see you. I'm proud of you, Rex. Indeed, I'm proud of you all.
07:45Thanks to Rex managing to slow down when he did, the accident caused little harm.
07:51And you, Bert and Mike, are safe and sound.
07:55The accident caused little harm, and you, Bert and Mike, have worked like heroes.
08:02I think our customers all admire the way we manage.
08:06Thank you. You've done a splendid job.
08:09Never overlook a little engine, eh?
08:12They may have thought we were a toy railway before, but now everyone says we're really useful.
08:19And when we finish with the wool, they've promised us plenty more work.
08:24Ah, extra work won't be a problem for us, sir.
08:27Just ask Rex, it'll be easy-peasy, lemon squeezy!
