5G kay Davedaron Nay 4G Bhi Band Kardia | Maria Memon's Report
Transcript
00:00In the last two weeks, freelancers, students and people from the tech industry have been complaining about the slow speed of the internet.
00:12People's livelihood is being affected by this.
00:15Before coming to power, PMLN used to make big claims to increase IT exports and promote the IT sector.
00:23One of the priorities in their agenda is this.
00:28This week, there were many press conferences where Mariam Sahiba, Shabaz Sharif Sahab, Shaza Fatima Khawaja Sahiba and Ahsan Iqbal Sahab made big claims.
00:38For example, they talked about an IT park being built.
00:43Then it was said that 5G is going to be launched.
00:46Then it was said that an IT hub is being built.
00:4910,000 jobs will be created.
00:51150 companies will not open.
00:53All these claims are being made while the internet is shut down in the country.
00:59Listen to the claims.
01:01There will be 120 offices in the IT park.
01:05There will be IT enabled companies.
01:08There will be hundreds of thousands of employees.
01:1110,000 IT related jobs will be created here.
01:17I want to see an IT revolution in Pakistan.
01:25I want to see an IT revolution in Pakistan.
01:30We are getting ready to launch 5G.
01:33We want to increase digital access so that no one is left behind.
01:40Pakistan's cyber security policy, national fibrillation policy.
01:43So that we can ensure internet penetration in the country through fibre.
01:48Pakistan's first semiconductor policy.
01:50All these policies are being worked on so that Pakistan can soon create a technology hub in the world and especially in its region.
02:00The government seems to be in a parallel universe.
02:02Because what they are saying has nothing to do with ground reality.
02:06What is ground reality?
02:08What are the people of the tech sector in this country telling you?
02:12They are telling you every day.
02:13Through social media, through their press conferences, through different platforms.
02:17They are approaching you privately.
02:19Pasha's organization had to come to Manzar-e-Aam and launch a press release.
02:23What are they telling you?
02:25Listen to what is the difference between your claims and reality.
02:29What is the reality?
02:31The IT minister is saying that it is down because of VPN.
02:34The PTA is saying that the internet is down because the cable is down.
02:38Give us a clear policy to save the country.
02:41Or there is a national security issue in the country.
02:43Because of which we are implementing this X, Y, Z based on our policy.
02:48When everyone knows that this is the start time and this is the end time.
02:50They should know that they can manage their timeline.
02:53Everyone has their own story.
02:55Someone is saying that the internet is working.
02:56Some government is saying that we have not slowed down the internet.
02:58The government is saying this.
03:00But millions of people are losing their jobs here.
03:03There are big political events.
03:05There are speeches, claims and promises.
03:08But the tech sector which is being affected the most due to the internet throttling.
03:13No one is talking to them.
03:15No one is approaching them.
03:16No one is engaging them.
03:17No one is sitting with them and talking about making a wise move.
03:20So who is making these claims?
03:22How will this happen?
03:23This dream is good.
03:24This desire is good.
03:25When you have to do all these magical, magical things in the tech sector.
03:29So how will it happen?
03:30It will happen when you talk to their stakeholders.
03:33They are complaining in a separate universe.
03:36In a parallel universe, the government is launching all these projects.
03:39I don't know how will the capacity and ground level be kept?
03:44How will it be run?
03:46Will we get the internet in the future like in the past?
03:50So that these beautiful dreams which are being shown to us,
03:53can be fulfilled.
03:54There are a lot of questions.
03:55The government should not make such claims in front of the cameras, PR teams and media.
04:03If you want to talk to someone, you have to talk to the tech sector.
04:06You have to tell them.
04:07You have to take them along.
04:08Especially the people of this country who are going to give 5G.
04:12First correct the existing signals.
04:15We will definitely welcome 5G.
04:17But we have less confidence in these claims.
