00:00Jason Biggs was an interesting choice for the host of a new Netflix show, Blue Ribbon
00:03Baking Championship.
00:04It's not what it looks like.
00:07It seems like an obvious rule of thumb that the producers of TV competitions should exclusively
00:12hire hosts and judges whom they would trust to be left alone in a room with one of the
00:16contestants.
00:17I mean, imagine if the organizers of the Westminster Dog Show had RFK on their shortlist.
00:22On the recently released Netflix cooking contest series Blue Ribbon Baking Championship, state
00:26fair winning bakers from across the country compete for a $100,000 prize in order to determine
00:31which state produces the very best carnival confections in the country.
00:36And they got the best pie lover they knew to judge the competition, Jason Biggs.
00:40When asked about his past incidents with pie, he joked to USA Today, no pies were harmed
00:44in the making of this show.
00:46However, while the easy punchlines may attract American pie fans to the cooking competition,
00:50Biggs said that he isn't just in it for the bit.
00:52I really wanted to host something in the food world.
00:54And whenever I can't think of something to say, I always have a pie joke in my back pocket
00:59that brings down the heat.
