00:00There was a trade earlier today of some significance in the NFL.
00:08Washington deals Jahan Dotson, their first round pick, Joe, what was that, three years
00:13ago?
00:14Dotson was their first round pick, I believe.
00:16Three years ago, right?
00:17So three years ago, their first round pick to a division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles.
00:23They get a fifth rounder back in return.
00:25I know I mentioned this briefly at the start of the show, Joe, and I never really got to,
00:29unfortunately I ran out of time for you to give your rebuttal.
00:33I always feel when you trade a team, a trade someone on your team to someone in your own
00:38division, whether this is in NFL, baseball, Major League Baseball, NHL, whatever, you
00:45do that, you're basically saying, we think this guy is so bad that he's not only going
00:50to get off of our team, but he's going to hurt the team that we compete with on a yearly
00:54basis in our own division.
00:56That's what I see when I see a trade like this, and I know they've had lots of stories
01:00about Dotson, slipping down the depth chart, all these other things.
01:05Your thoughts on him going to Philly, Joe?
01:07Yeah, I'm shocked actually, Carver, because I actually think he's got a little tread on
01:11the tire, and I think he could be really good number three with Devante Smith and A.J. Brown
01:17and give Jalen Hurts another weapon in terms of that offense, and a couple of them would
01:22say Kwon Barkley coming out of the backfield, you have to account for the passing attack
01:27in terms of every level in regards to the passing tree.
01:30He's a smooth route runner, has great hands, and had success with Sam Howell last year.
01:35I mean, here's the thing, I don't think he's done, and I said this before on the radio,
01:40I don't think this is Jalen Rager 2.0.
01:43I don't think this is, you know, Jalen Rager, they took out at TCU, what, five years ago,
01:47they thought he was the second coming of Deshaun Jackson, and he fell off a cliff and is a
01:51journeyman in the league.
01:53I actually think Deshaun Jackson could be a really good wide receiver.
01:57Why they dealt him, that's one aspect.
02:00Maybe they didn't feel that, or he was picking it up, the offense with Cliff Kingsbury, which
02:05I find shocking.
02:06I think maybe it's a locker room issue.
02:09Maybe they just feel he doesn't mesh well with Dan Quinn, or maybe some of the players.
02:14Maybe that's it.
02:15I mean, why would they trade him to, why would you give Jalen Hurts another weapon?
02:21It just doesn't make any sense.
02:23This isn't K.J. Hamler either.
02:25K.J. Hamler was supposed to be what John Dodson is.
02:28So I don't, it's odd, but I think he makes an immediate impact, I will say that.
