00:00of the year award. At times around the all-star break with
00:04Paul Skeen starting the game for the National League in
00:07Arlington. He was up to a minus 2,000 minus 4,000 favorite to
00:11win the National League rookie of the year. He is no longer
00:14the favorite. He is not in minus money. It is San Diego's
00:18Jackson Merrill at a minus 175 number. Craig. What do you
00:22think the biggest reason is that he's not in minus money?
00:26A minus 175 number. Craig. What do you think the biggest
00:29reason is for the large change atop the National League rookie
00:32of the year odds? Yeah, look and this has been the biggest
00:35shifting market. I think of all the markets since the beginning
00:38of the season, you know, none of those players those top three
00:41were even favored to win the rookie of the year and then
00:43Imanaga very quickly was the favorite then Skeens was the
00:46favorite now Merrill is the favorite. So why has it gone
00:49from Merrill to Skeens? There's two different reasons. The
00:51first let's talk about Skeens. The reason why is because Skeens
00:54very clearly has not been as good as he was when he first
00:57came up looks like he potentially is getting tired not
01:00throwing a hundred anymore. He's only throwing 98 99 guys,
01:03right? Like that's all he's throwing. But I think that the
01:06markets are smart and they realize that Skeens is running
01:09out of time. I think the Pirates very soon are going to
01:12shut him down, especially if they are out of it and there
01:15is some talk Jared Jones comes back and Skeens stops that
01:18could definitely be the case. The other part of this wise
01:20Merrill the rookie of the year. It's not just his stats guys.
01:23He's got like the biggest hits of the season for the Padres.
01:26He's come up with these big moments Grand Slams home runs
01:29doubles to win the game. And I think that that is why the
01:33pendulum has shifted toward Merrill. I don't think this is
01:36an open and shut case, but I think when we look back at
01:38Merrill season, it's going to be his clutch hitting. I know
01:40they don't judge that anymore, but I think his clutch hitting
01:43has been huge.
