00:00Now we look at the NL Rookie of the Year odds, where Skeens has
00:07grown closer and closer to Shota Iminaga for the Chicago Cubs,
00:11plus 105. Iminaga is still the favorite, but if Skeens pitches
00:15this way the rest of the summer, depending on how long that
00:19leash is, that the Buccos have him on. You gotta think with the
00:23narrative and the notoriety that Paul Skeens is going to win this
00:27award when all is said and done. Yeah, he's riding a rocket ship
00:30right now. There's some really good names out there, too. Mason
00:32Wynn has been very, very good for the Cardinals this season.
00:35Same thing with Jackson Merrill. Every time I look up on my app
00:37here for the San Diego Padres, it feels like he's factoring with
00:40a home run, Endor, and RBI. Then you still have Jared Jones, a
00:42young pitcher there on the same staff as Pittsburgh, but I do
00:45think I agree. Iminaga and Skeens coming down the stretch
00:48are going to make the difference, but you're right
00:49about this. It's just a matter of how long you want to pitch
00:52Paul Skeens, because in the grand scheme of things, you're
00:55not looking at Paul Skeens and saying, boy, we have to get him
00:57this rookie of the year trophy and maybe put an extra 20 to 30
01:01innings on his arm at the end of the year when maybe the
01:03Pittsburgh Pirates aren't even playoff eligible at that point.
01:06We'll see how this one plays out, but that's it. Show to
01:08Imanaga I don't think is ever going to get shut down
01:10throughout the season for the Cubs, regardless of record.
01:12There's a really good chance Paul Skeens does that, and just
01:14to bring back a few short years ago, Jacob DeGrom was having
01:17one of those seasons for the New York Mets that you thought
01:19he might wind up with a one or less than one ERA. He got
01:22injured, and Kevin, I used to joke about this saying, you
01:24know what? We didn't know he's going to get injured. He could
01:27probably get injured in August and still walk away with the
01:29Cy Young Endor MVP. Well, he did get injured in like two
01:32weeks. He wasn't even on the board anymore, and nobody
01:34cared about it. So you can't say like, hey, as long as
01:36Skeens is really dominant through August and then misses
01:38his final five to six starts, he won't win rookie of the year
01:41at that point, no matter how dominant he is. He can't get
01:44shut down to win that award, but I think your point's valid.
01:46If he doesn't, he's probably going to win it.
