00:00:00Hi! Oh, you're sweet, aren't you, huh?
00:00:07What are we gonna do, huh?
00:00:09Yeah.
00:00:10Ruby?
00:00:13Looks like you've been summoned.
00:00:31Okay.
00:00:38Yep, uh-huh. They come every single time it snows.
00:00:42I know, it's great.
00:00:46Okay, yes, I will let her know. Okay, bye-bye now.
00:00:49Mrs. Markowitz?
00:00:50Yep, she's good to go. Oh, and the snowplow guy sounded super cute, so don't be mad.
00:00:55Gina, you gotta stop doing that. Besides, I don't have time. We need to focus on the town.
00:01:02What do you mean?
00:01:03Main Street is a ghost town, thanks to those bridge repairs. It's really bad. Worse than we thought.
00:01:09How's that possible? I made those revenue loss projections myself.
00:01:12I know, but we didn't account for this many delays. Especially this time of year.
00:01:17Hmm. Well, what can we do?
00:01:20Call the contractor and lay the hammer down.
00:01:23Can you give me his number?
00:01:25Yeah. There's just one thing.
00:01:28What?
00:01:29He's on vacation. In Jamaica. Until the new year.
00:01:33You've gotta be kidding me.
00:01:36Well, then we find another contractor to finish the job.
00:01:40Yeah, but that's breach of contract. Plus, it's the middle of winter. Most construction's already shut down.
00:01:46Well, we can't just do nothing. I have to fix this.
00:01:52Okay, but...
00:01:53Nope. No buts. It's happening.
00:01:57How?
00:01:59I don't know yet. But I'm gonna figure it out.
00:02:03Okay.
00:02:18It's open!
00:02:22Hi there, sweetie.
00:02:24Hey, Dad.
00:02:26Mmm. Something smells good.
00:02:29I made your favorite spaghetti sauce. Just gotta throw in some noodles.
00:02:33You didn't have to go to all that trouble, huh? Could've just ordered take-outs.
00:02:37Dad, when is the last time you had a home-cooked meal?
00:02:41When was the last time I was here?
00:02:43My point exactly. Plus, I know that you had that burger joint on speed dial.
00:02:48What? They're good. Anyway, enough about me. What's with the tree?
00:02:53Oh, yeah. I know. We'll get to it eventually.
00:02:58Everything okay?
00:03:00Uh, nothing for you to worry about.
00:03:02You sure? Need my help?
00:03:04Nope. I invited my dad over, not the ex-mayor.
00:03:09Why can't it be both tonight?
00:03:11Why don't you sit down and put your feet up?
00:03:14Why don't I just set the table, huh?
00:03:16Meanwhile, I need you to look through that box. I'm finally finishing the basement.
00:03:20Need to get rid of some stuff. You have no idea how many boxes of Christmas decor your mother had down there.
00:03:27You know I have plenty of stuff already.
00:03:29Yeah, I know, but those pieces were special to her and I thought you might want to keep them.
00:03:45Hollybush Christmas Market. You used to love building that village.
00:03:49You'd come home from school and stare at it for hours.
00:03:52You'd come home from school and stare at it for hours.
00:04:13You know, uh, I used to think it was you dragging your mother around to that market, but, uh, I'm not so sure.
00:04:21she spent a fortune down there oh wow of course what spend a fortune that's it a
00:04:34Christmas market what oh you are a genius dad thank you
00:04:51hi hi thanks for coming in so early of course what's happening I figured it out
00:05:00okay awesome figured out what how to fix this construction mess the first annual
00:05:07Hawkins Bay Christmas market it's perfect we'll find an accessible spot
00:05:12give a booth to every shop on Main Street we'll bring in a Santa and a
00:05:16Christmas tree we'll have mulled cider and and hot cocoa and every kind of
00:05:21Christmas cookie you can think of if we can't bring people to Main Street then
00:05:26we will bring Main Street to the people Wow I love it I know right but Christmas
00:05:32is in a week do you think we really have time to pull this off we find the time
00:05:39do you know okay so first things first we find a location somewhere off the
00:05:49downtown strip it's still close and parking endless parking seems easy enough
00:05:57what about here that's the arena remember that is a no-go minor hockey
00:06:14would revolt not to mention the figure skaters never mess with the figure
00:06:18skaters wait a minute what about the old textile mill big spot parking lot
00:06:30overlooking the river very Christmassy kind of perfect yeah but that's the old
00:06:37Hawkins now so I'll never let you do that you don't know about that when is
00:06:43the last time someone from your family spoke to Hawkins 1989 that's probably
00:06:49accurate but it's been vacant for 30 years and I heard they live in Florida
00:06:54now it's probably fine the parents live in Florida but the son still lives in
00:07:00that big old house on the hill really yeah Darcy Hawkins notorious recluse oh
00:07:07come on he can't be that bad I'm just saying I think it would be a good idea
00:07:11to have some other options what other options exactly this is the spot just
00:07:25leave it to me okay
00:08:41are you okay yeah oh it's you I I saw you on the street yesterday I didn't
00:08:59mean to surprise you it's fine we just got a lot of visitors up here what can I
00:09:07do for you oh I'm Alex Foster mayor Alex Foster
00:09:17right sorry not really keeping up on local politics these days so you might
00:09:25have noticed some of the construction issues on the bridge hard to miss right
00:09:30well had to be done upgrading infrastructure in this town was long
00:09:36overdue I agree I've been saying that for years great yeah well so
00:09:44unfortunately it has led to some unforeseen consequences for some of the
00:09:48local businesses which brings me to the reason I came I was wondering if you
00:10:00would be interested in leasing the old mill just for this week before Christmas
00:10:06we're throwing an old-fashioned Christmas market and we think the mill
00:10:12would be the ideal spot to host it kind of late notice for a Christmas market
00:10:17isn't it look the truth is tourism has completely bottomed out and I have to
00:10:26find a way to boost sales for the folks on Main Street or they might not make it
00:10:30through the holiday season and the Christmas market is the perfect solution
00:10:37and not just that you know it would also be a great way to bring the entire town
00:10:42together you know Christmas spirit and all that
00:10:49yeah I don't know I prefer not to get involved but you wouldn't have to be
00:10:58involved we've got lots of help so you wouldn't have to lift a finger if you
00:11:02didn't want to I'm sure there's a better place for it
00:11:04well that's the thing they're just really aren't that many options you know
00:11:10what I would really love to help I've just got so much going on but good luck
00:11:29don't give me that look hey I heard what you said and I would just really
00:11:42appreciate it if you take a look at this it breaks everything down and I think
00:11:47that once you've had a chance to read it you'll see that the benefits to the town
00:11:50may outweigh your reservations so my numbers on the front if you have any
00:11:54questions and I really look forward to picking up this conversation once you've
00:11:58had the time to review it so thank you so much
00:12:04what's all this finally spreading some Christmas cheer around here how did it
00:12:27go he said no please don't say I told you so I would never although I think I
00:12:33bought us some time I gave him the pitch document so now I have an excuse
00:12:37to go back tomorrow and follow up hmm and what makes you think he's gonna
00:12:41change his mind I don't know everybody wants something you just have to figure
00:12:47out what it is hey oh good you're here I ordered us a gallon of coffee you any
00:12:58luck digging around nope so far all I've heard from people is that he is
00:13:03quiet and he has a cute dog huh I mean there is no social media on this guy
00:13:07nothing zero what about you there is not much hmm but I did find out that he went
00:13:15to boarding school in Europe is boarding school still a thing apparently with his
00:13:19family yes after that Ivy League College for civil engineering graduated top of
00:13:25his class okay that's something where's he working now I don't know I mean the
00:13:30only other stuff that I could find with his name are articles about his dad
00:13:36apparently yours too mm-hmm Henry Hawkins accuses Mayor Art Foster of
00:13:41defamation defamation what's that about well I was pretty young but from what I
00:13:49remember dad told some reporters that he thought Hawkins closing down the mill
00:13:53was the worst thing to happen to the town and let's just say that Hawkins did
00:13:59not take kindly to the bad press do you think that Hawkins jr. still upset about
00:14:03all this well hello ladies hi Brent and how are we this morning good busy right
00:14:13of course always busy can we help you with something no just picking up some
00:14:20doughnuts for the committee meeting gotta support local especially right now
00:14:24it's been pretty quiet around you lately anyway I should get going have a good
00:14:29day you too hi hmm it's a shame the two of you didn't work out he only went on a
00:14:39few dates sure but the mayor and the city planner mm-hmm
00:14:44could've made headlines anyways so we've got a decades-long family feud and
00:14:52absolutely no leverage what are we gonna do about this guy we go back to the
00:14:59basics okay what what what does that mean Joe I'm gonna need a dozen of your
00:15:07best treats you got it thanks good really it's a start oh and do you have
00:15:12any more flyers for the choir event tomorrow night over there honey okay I'm
00:15:16loving the confidence I am but just in case I'm gonna get started on a plan B
00:15:21we are not gonna need one no one can resist Joe's baking
00:15:42I
00:15:44I what are you doing here
00:16:12I'm just admiring your super nice chairs Wow did you make these yourself
00:16:21yeah and they're a gift so oh sorry
00:16:29wrap those back up
00:16:33anyway I brought you these I didn't make them so I promise you they're good I
00:16:44wanted to apologize for yesterday I took you by surprise and I put a lot of
00:16:50pressure on you and I'm sorry thanks I appreciate that and I'd like to make it
00:16:57up to you somehow you know what I'm good but thanks for these I really have a
00:17:05lot of work to do today so is this about our dad's what because I know that your
00:17:15family is not exactly a fan of mine and maybe there's some residual stuff to
00:17:20work through yeah I don't think so cuz I just think that this Christmas market
00:17:26could be the perfect way to put the past behind us just think about it the
00:17:31Fosters and the Hawkins working together to help the town you know we could write
00:17:36the ship we have a new narrative yeah I'm not really interested in weaving any
00:17:39kind of narrative just tell me what I can do to
00:17:47oh
00:17:51grant you okay oh everything's fine I just can't find my playing cards I was
00:18:01gonna queue up a game of solitaire but I oh
00:18:07hi hello I don't know we had company coming no we're not actually ah I'm
00:18:17Mary Hawkins it's a pleasure to meet you nice to meet you I'm Alex Foster Foster
00:18:26as in Art Foster's daughter that's me she's the mayor now too oh well I must be
00:18:36a lot older than I thought mayor Foster please come in and sit in front of the
00:18:42fire and play cards with us Darcy'll make us some tea you know mayor Foster's
00:18:47very busy woman I'm sure she has better places to be actually I'd love to stay
00:18:51thank you and call me Alex Oh wonderful Alex we so rarely have company this is
00:18:57thrilling go and get out the best China Darcy and and put on some Christmas
00:19:02music I love Christmas music do you like Christmas music oh yes well come
00:19:08with me so you play gin yeah
00:19:32you
00:19:54since I was a kid and clearly it shows oh let him make you feel bad I beat him
00:20:00most days I'll let her beat me he's lying you can always tell with this one
00:20:05he puts on this gruff exterior but really he's just an old softy oh and did
00:20:12I tell you he built me these beautiful new chairs for my porch what how'd you
00:20:18know about that well I saw you wrapping them up out there in a big tarp not
00:20:23exactly subtle oh and next on the docket is my new apartment on the river
00:20:30no that's not happening anymore no it's not happening yet there's a difference
00:20:35what apartments it's nothing anyway can I get us some more TV no I'm good thank
00:20:44you I have plenty
00:20:49mrs. Hopkins mm-hmm I'm not sure what you're up to tomorrow night but local
00:20:55choir is performing at the chapel there'll be snacks and drinks and we're
00:20:59donating all the proceeds to the mission oh how wonderful it's usually a lot of
00:21:05fun I thought you might like to join us this year what do you say Darcy well we
00:21:13don't have anything planned as far as I know whatever you want we'd be delighted
00:21:21to attend thank you for the invitation you're welcome well I should probably
00:21:27get going but thank you for the tea and the cards even though my ego may never
00:21:32fully recover any time my dear bye now well I guess I will see you tomorrow I'm
00:21:48looking forward to it
00:21:51good morning hi I got your message and I pulled all the building permits made
00:22:06in the last 10 years thanks so much great work so tell me what are we
00:22:12looking for exactly well it turns out Darcy is not the only one who lives at
00:22:16the Hawkins estate he's been looking after his grandmother too okay that's
00:22:22kind of cute she kept mentioning some apartment that he tried to build for her
00:22:28but it fell through okay so it got me thinking maybe at some point he applied
00:22:32for a building permit hmm so are we thinking vacant land or a
00:22:38teardown I'm not sure yet well let's find out shall we I swear I've got
00:22:49paper cuts on all ten of my fingers how is that even possible I think I even
00:22:53chipped a nail aha the mail of course looks like he wanted to turn the top
00:23:08floor into apartment and some commercial real estate shops and restaurants
00:23:13honestly not a bad idea and some accessibility ramps and elevators for
00:23:18Cran Alex look
00:23:30dad
00:23:37hey dad hey there she is thanks for coming on such short notice my pleasure
00:23:43so how's the Christmas market thing going along well we've actually hit a
00:23:50little bump in the road oh I found the ideal spot to host it good no I just
00:23:57have to convince the owner to lease it to me well you talked to him about it
00:24:01didn't you I mean explain the situation oh yeah but he's been resisting so I
00:24:08figured why not try an old-fashioned trade mm-hmm it's my girl and as luck
00:24:15would have it I found the perfect thing to offer him in return but it might
00:24:23disappoint some people you asking my advice I am haha well in my experience
00:24:31you can't please everyone but you have to think about the long-term well-being
00:24:36of the town and make decisions that are gonna benefit as many people as possible
00:24:40but no matter what you do someone's always gonna be disappointed and what I
00:24:46thought someone was you know what do you mean
00:24:53I want to host the market at the Hawkinsville what and to do it I'm going
00:24:59to get this permit approved refurbishing the mill looks like a
00:25:05really sound investment to me more real estate close to Main Street more shops
00:25:10and restaurants too it looks like the kind of long-term economic boost we need
00:25:17but I know you disagree for good reason you don't know that family his father
00:25:25nearly sunk this town when he closed the mill and he didn't give any of his
00:25:28employees notice he just left leaving hundreds of families without income and
00:25:32then he got mad at me for being honest about it I know dad but it was almost
00:25:3730 years ago and Darcy is not his father Oh Darcy is in a first-name basis
00:25:43already we've had some preliminary discussions yes look Alex I would never
00:25:50I'll never tell you what to do it feels like you're letting the Fox back into
00:25:55the head house I disagree well hey you're the mayor and you got to make you
00:26:02know whatever decision you feels right so look I got some things I got to do so
00:26:11we'll talk later all right dad
00:26:25hi Brent hey you look nice oh thanks actually I'm glad you're here you are
00:26:45yes I would love to set up a meeting with the planning committee about this
00:26:50oh all the assessments have been done on the property and everything looks in
00:26:56order this is for the Hawkins mill yes it is but it's actually a really great
00:27:01plan you know we've been talking forever about expanding the downtown core and
00:27:05this could be our chance well need some time to look this all over absolutely
00:27:10but at first glance nothing jumps out at you right well I've seen a lot of mills
00:27:15like this be refurbished before so should be doable great thanks
00:27:25so I I guess I'll see you in there yeah sure
00:27:32Oh
00:27:42hey honey hey Joe it looks amazing in here thank you
00:27:51you waiting on someone I am actually Oh
00:28:02is that yep Marion Darcy Hawkins Wow how did you manage that
00:28:21hey I am so glad you came I wouldn't miss it
00:28:26look at this place I've forgotten how beautiful it is here I'll grab some
00:28:35seats don't worry I actually saved us some up front
00:28:37remember to the right oh thank you dear
00:28:45thanks for coming I wasn't sure you'd actually show up
00:28:49Grant's pretty persuasive I can believe it so do you recognize anyone here not
00:28:57many my name okay well that is Joe one of the one and only Hopkins Bay Cafe
00:29:03ah yes the maker of the treats mm-hmm exactly she's about as pure and kind as
00:29:08a person gets heart and soul of Main Street hi thank you so much for coming
00:29:16so these were the braids they own the shop right next to friends and good
00:29:24evening everyone and thank you for coming I hope you're all having a good
00:29:28time we have such a special treat for you tonight it's my pleasure to
00:29:34introduce you to the Hawkins Bay choir
00:30:15you
00:30:45you
00:31:16you
00:31:28thanks again for coming tonight I hope you had a good time I did and I
00:31:37haven't seen granddad happy in a long time so thank you see I'm not so bad if
00:31:44you give us a chance I wasn't sure I wasn't gonna go
00:31:50it was a long time ago
00:31:55listen after your grand mentioned the apartments the other day I did some
00:32:02research and I discovered your plans to refurbish the mill
00:32:09now I know my dad turned them down but I actually think it's a really great idea
00:32:16and I would love to help you make it happen
00:32:21really mm-hmm yeah I think it's in the town's best interest and your grands too
00:32:29and I would tell you that regardless of the market but then I would be
00:32:33completely undercutting my bargaining power fair enough I like a good train so
00:32:42what do you say mr. Hawkins should we make a deal we'll approve your permit
00:32:49and you host the Christmas market
00:32:56you got yourself a deal
00:33:00good great thank you oh gosh I should call Gina because there's so much to do
00:33:11um should I meet you at the mill tomorrow and we'll go over our plans
00:33:17sure okay I'll see you soon okay hi Gina good news the Christmas market is a go
00:33:29we wish you a merry Christmas I'm sorry Frank it's end of an era oh don't say
00:33:41that are you sure there aren't any other options hey guys Frank you okay he had
00:33:51to shut down his shop this morning what no I just can't afford to keep digging
00:33:55this hole through the holidays figured it's best to close up now before things
00:33:59get worse give myself a chance to figure out the next steps did you give up your
00:34:04lease already not yet why because I may have a way to help you I wasn't able to
00:34:10speed up construction but when I told you I had your backs I meant it so
00:34:16welcome to the first annual Hawkins Bay Christmas market this Friday Saturday
00:34:23and Sunday night at the old Hawkins mill we've got booths for each of you we've
00:34:27got mulled cider and hot cocoa and treats galore we've got Santa and a tree
00:34:33and presents for the kids it sounds perfect Alex really what do you think
00:34:39Frank are you sure you can get enough people to attend it's kind of late
00:34:43notice I personally guarantee that you will have more business in one night at
00:34:49the market than you would have at your shop from now until Christmas mmm guarantee you
00:34:54haven't seen Gina work the phones she will have everyone and their grandmother there
00:34:59it could help to get you the new year and then you could reassess yeah could so does
00:35:05that mean you'll do it count me in okay we've got work to do yes we gotta go we do
00:35:19you
00:35:32hey good morning I haven't been here in so long I'd forgotten how nice it is
00:35:42these little TLC but she'll get the job done go on a tour sure do
00:35:53I thought this might be the best spot it's got the high ceilings and room for a lot of people
00:35:58it's beautiful you think it'll work definitely mm-hmm we could spread the booths out around the
00:36:11perimeter I have a big tree right here in the middle and we could put Santa right over there
00:36:17sure yeah sounds good oh and then we'll need to um round up some booths somehow I could help out
00:36:26with that really yeah got a bunch of lumber at the house put something together that would be
00:36:33amazing thank you welcome they teach you how to build stuff like that at boarding school
00:36:40no I taught myself how do you know I went to boarding school hmm I may have looked you up
00:36:51you're kind of an enigma so I had to resort to the internet yeah
00:36:58find anything interesting just boarding school and college either of which quite seem to match
00:37:05up with you yeah I um that's just I didn't really fit in with the crowd
00:37:12kind of kept to myself yeah no that last part sounds about right yeah yeah
00:37:19you want to see where grand's apartment's gonna be absolutely this way
00:37:28so all the apartments are gonna have their own balconies but I really want this one to be grand's
00:37:33it's got the best view of the river oh it's perfect yeah the house is just so big and has
00:37:41so many stairs I I worry about her being on her own when I'm not there you know that's understandable
00:37:50she's really lucky to have you were you two always this close yeah
00:37:56yeah well she practically raised me
00:38:01not all my dad were always busy working or traveling but most the time it was just the two of us
00:38:10and she's done so much for me
00:38:14I just really wanted to have something she loves you know
00:38:21anyway uh what about you what was it like growing up the daughter of the mayor
00:38:26it was
00:38:32all I knew
00:38:35when I was young I spent a lot of time with my mom my dad was always working but then after she
00:38:42passed my dad just kind of dragged me along everywhere is that why you ran for office
00:38:50you want to follow in his footsteps not really
00:38:56I just had some strong opinions about how to do things my own way oh yeah I noticed
00:39:06well I think this is gonna be great in fact I might just have to move in right next door
00:39:12when it's all said and done well gran would love that I might have to get better at gin though
00:39:17that's true I mean that's if the permit gets approved oh don't worry they will
00:39:38that's correct opens this Friday night 6 p.m sharp okay great see you there hi morning

01:03:38i find it very hard to say no to you lucky me
01:03:53alec oh uh sorry i didn't mean to interrupt um i need to talk to you
01:03:59what is it i just got off the phone with brent's office
01:04:09the planning committee held a vote tonight what yeah what happened they denied darcy's
01:04:17building permit what but we had a meeting scheduled for the new year i know but i guess
01:04:25they just decided to go ahead anyway sorry
01:04:38thanks for letting me know good luck
01:04:44so
01:04:53everything okay actually
01:04:59there's an issue with your permit
01:05:03the planning committee decided to hold a vote and um they opted not to approve it
01:05:12what i'm so sorry i had no idea they were planning to do it tonight they
01:05:18they they rushed the decision for some reason
01:05:23yeah because i never planned to approve in the first place no no no that's not true
01:05:31they're reasonable people let me talk to them i'll file an appeal we'll get this sorted out
01:05:37you said the vote was only formality i thought it was but you weren't sure
01:05:45i told gran about the apartment she's picking out paint colors i'm so sorry
01:05:55yeah at least you and the town got what you wanted
01:06:00you know darcy wait we will figure this out i promise you have my word
01:06:10people's word doesn't seem to be in law in this town
01:06:14darcy please
01:06:30you great i'm so happy to hear that i will definitely let her know okay thanks bye
01:06:39so we got some of the preliminary numbers in from last night sales were off the charts really
01:06:47and we have two more nights to go that's great yep frank even gave me a hug on the way out i
01:06:52take it he sold a few big ticket items all the big ticket items what about joe she didn't have
01:06:56time to sit down all night i'm really happy to hear that i know
01:07:09you did a good thing last night i don't know about that
01:07:12main street's gonna live to see another day because of you
01:07:18hey i got your message yeah we need to talk
01:07:21i heard the christmas market was a huge success that's good news yeah thanks in large part to
01:07:31darcy what happened brent the committee voted against it why you and i both know there was
01:07:39nothing wrong with that proposal i wouldn't say that his environmental assessments were six years
01:07:44old you can't just expect us to sign off on so order them to be redone you don't just throw it
01:07:49away it's not just that the committee was hesitant to go back into business with hawkins
01:07:59the committee or you both and if i'm being perfectly honest i think your judgment is a
01:08:08little clouded on this issue what does that mean come on alex i'm not blind
01:08:15i'm thinking about the good of this town well the committee disagrees
01:08:21you are welcome to appeal the decision though
01:08:36you know if you stand out here too long you're gonna catch a cold
01:08:39are you okay doesn't seem fair feels like they used us no they didn't they welcomed us
01:08:58but your apartment oh darcy don't worry about the apartment there are plenty of other places
01:09:04to live i'll be fine now don't let the past stand in the way of your future okay
01:09:24so
01:09:30not a bad place to live huh not bad at all i heard the christmas market was a big hit
01:09:40congratulations not to everybody yeah i heard about the committee's decision
01:09:49i'm sorry it didn't go your way you know i just thought after all this
01:09:56people would be able to move on but all these things take time darcy was right
01:10:06i got what i wanted but what did he get
01:10:08did he get
01:10:12you let him down again
01:10:18for what it's worth you were right about him
01:10:24he's not his father if anyone made a mistake it was me
01:10:30you have faith in people no matter what and that's what makes you so good at this job
01:10:37you're a better mayor than i ever was dad no no no no no i mean it yeah i know i taught you a lot
01:10:44but you bring your mother's heart into it i know she'd be so proud of you i certainly am
01:10:58so then why does it still feel like i've failed because you care about him
01:11:02about him and uh maybe it's not too late what do you mean well just because the vote's been taken
01:11:12it doesn't mean the paperwork's been filed yet what building permits don't get put into the
01:11:18system until the end of the week so until it's filed it's not set in stone still a chance to
01:11:28change their minds you really are a genius dad 25 years in the job you learn a few things
01:11:38thank you go get him honey i will love you love you
01:11:47all right that sounds like a great idea we'll take a look at that in the new year
01:11:50all right everyone i guess that pretty much wraps us up wait uh mayor foster what are you doing here
01:11:57i need to talk to you all hi everyone uh we're just finishing up it's our last day before the
01:12:05holidays i know but this is important it's about the hawkins mill uh we've already voted on that
01:12:11i know but i'm not sure it was given the appropriate consideration
01:12:18as you may have heard the christmas market opened up last night and
01:12:23so far it has exceeded our expectations yes but it's only temporary exactly but it doesn't have
01:12:30to be think about what opening the mill year round could do for economic growth not only would it be
01:12:39the permanent home for the christmas market but it could also host other events like conferences
01:12:45and weddings not to mention new businesses new residents
01:12:49and new infrastructure this is exactly what hawkins bay needs
01:12:58the only hesitation i'm sensing here is about the name on the paper
01:13:04look i understand this town has been through a lot over the years and it's only natural for
01:13:16some of us to be wary but think about the opportunity we have here what it would symbolize
01:13:24for our town a fresh start a new chapter a chance to move forward together
01:13:34a good speech
01:13:39it's what i believe
01:13:43so what do you say
01:13:47will you reconsider
01:13:54so
