00:00I have to say my favorite memory of Mr. Walls was when he built the set of The Nerd.
00:06I designed the set and I drew a sketch and I didn't know how it was going to become actualized
00:11and he built it. He literally made my dreams come true.
00:14When I was a freshman and sophomore in high school and we created the Gay-Straight Alliance
00:19we had a human rights week and one of the days was a gay rights day and on that day
00:24a number of parents refused to send their children to school. They called the principal,
00:28they protested and Mr. Walls and our principal at the time were steadfast in their support of us
00:34and of this day. They did not cave to the pressure of parents who wanted to undermine and belittle
00:39our gay students and they supported us. He would always high-five students in the
00:44halls and rev up that energy. He really brings the positive attitude and the energy and the
00:50enthusiasm. He really cared about every single student and that's rare and hard, you know,
00:56when you're a teacher to have that level of energy all day long.
