Video game Black Myth: Wukong is creating quite a buzz.  Fans started posting reviews and gameplay clips  just hours after it was released on Tuesday.  The Chinese-developed game is already one of the top performers on the Steam platform. 00:04Sure, Black Myth Wukong is all about the monkey king,

00:08but it's a massive hit, with gamers around the world

00:11snapping it up just hours after its release.

00:15Many of them are posting on X,

00:18and this is one of the big talking points.

00:22At one stage, more than 1.8 million users

00:25were playing Black Myth at the same time

00:27on gaming platform Steam.

00:29Tech journalist Tom Warren posted a screen grab

00:32of the Steam user count, saying it's in the all-time top three

00:36when it comes to concurrent players.

00:38And there was no shortage of praise from fans.

00:42This one saying, Black Myth is literally a GOTY contender,

00:47and I literally just jumped into the game.

00:49GOTY means Game of the Year in the gaming world,

00:53in case you were wondering.

00:55The opening sequence also got people talking.

00:58This user tweeting that it is top tier,

01:01he also gave a top rating for the combat action

01:04and the cinematic style, saying, quote,

01:07this is going to be a great ride.

01:11It's been almost impossible to ignore

01:13the buzz across social media.

01:15This gamer tweeted a meme of monkeys storming a street,

01:19saying that's what the Steam platform looked like

01:22when the game was released.

01:23Again, the monkeys are a reference to the main character.

01:27But in a sense, this is more than just a game.

01:29The story is based on Journey to the West,

01:32one of the classical novels of Chinese literature.

01:35And the myths and characters in that story

01:37are generating a buzz of their own.

01:39Tech company NVIDIA GeForce offered a deep dive

01:42into the, quote, legendary pilgrimage

01:44of Journey to the West.

01:46It also promised to explore the origins of the creatures

01:49and locations in the game.

01:52It seems the game is also sparking conversations

01:55about the ideas and myths that shaped the novel.

01:58Kells tweeting here that Black Myth makes me want

02:02a huge big budget adaptation of Journey to the West.

02:07This gamer took it to the next level,

02:09posting a picture of his trip to Lanzhou

02:12in China a few years ago.

02:14There he is next to statues inspired by the characters

02:18in Journey to the West.

02:19Talk about life imitating art.

02:23China is famous for its ability to export products

02:26around the world.

02:28It seems Black Myth may be its next great export.

02:31Because when you look at the response on social media,

02:35it's game on.
