00:00If Seattle had some offense, maybe they could win a divisional race in the American League West.
00:04Maybe they would be a true contender for a pennant in the AL, but Seattle doesn't have
00:10any offense. Planked yesterday on the road inside Chavez Ravine by Gavin Stone and the Dodgers.
00:17LA wins the opener of this midweek set, 3-0. They were booked as a minus-136 home money line
00:23favorite. A total of eight stays well under. It's not like the Dodgers were lighting up the
00:28scoreboard yesterday. They scored three runs. It was a Gavin Lux solo shot in the home half of the
00:34seventh, followed two batters later by a Max Muncy two-run home run. That was the only offense for
00:41the Dodgers. All three runs contained to that seventh inning. But the story more so, DRS,
00:46is on the Mariners' side of things. An inability to close any ground here after the all-star break
00:53on the surging Houston Astros. Seattle shut out yesterday by Gavin Stone, who goes seven
00:59innings of shutout work, allowing just two base knocks and striking out 10. The Mariners now five
01:07games back of the Astros atop the American League West. It just feels like roster construction here
01:13for the Seattle Mariners was just a disaster all the way. Remember back in the day, like, let's
01:16not even go back that, like, 1980s-wise. Speed and contact at the top of the lineup, power in the
01:22middle, just guys trying to put the ball in play, six, seven, eight, and nine, so forth, right? Now
01:26you take a look at the Seattle Mariners. Well, what do they have here? Well, hopefully one through
01:30nine can just make contact, because I feel like every guy just absolutely loves to strike out.
01:35And you take a look at the game last night. Gavin Stone's on the mound, seven innings pitch, 10 Ks.
01:38They struck out 12 times as a team, the Seattle Mariners. And you get a good pitching performance
01:44out of Wu, who six and a third innings pitch two-run runs. He left the game only giving up
01:47one earned run, which was that solo home run. But obviously the bullpen comes in and ruins that. But
01:52it doesn't even matter. Like, if you're telling me before the game, hey, every team against you
01:57this season, Ben, is going to score three runs. Like, no more, no less. Every game, three runs.
02:01You're gonna have a great baseball season, because you're anticipated to score at least four-plus
02:05runs per game on most nights. And that's not what you get out of the Mariners. It feels like it's
02:09feast or famine. And when it's famine, it's so incredibly hard to watch. You look at the lineup.
02:15There are some decent names and decent power hitters. But you can't just rely on one swing
02:19of the bat gets you one run here. You got to get singles. You got to get doubles. You got to move
02:24runners over with productive outs. The Mariners do none of that. And that's what you get, another
02:28shutout effort in Los Angeles, when you're just trying to hang around the AL West.
