A 48-year-old jobless man was charged in the Muar Magistrate's Court on Tuesday (Aug 20) with the murder of his elderly parents and 11-year-old niece.

Azman Mohamed Nor nodded after the three charges were read separately before Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar.

00:18No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
00:23The offence was allegedly committed at a house in Kampung Payah Redan, Pago between 1am and
00:293am on August 9.
00:32He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or a
00:37jail term between 30 and 40 years, and whipping of no fewer than 20 strokes of the cane.
00:44The Court set October 24 for the re-mention of the case to obtain forensic, post-mortem
00:50and chemical reports.
00:52Meanwhile at the Sessions Court, Azman pleaded guilty to a charge of intentionally causing
00:57serious injury to his 14-year-old niece by using a wooden stick as a weapon capable of
01:02causing death.
01:03The offence was allegedly committed at the same location, time and day as the murders.
01:08The charge was framed under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of
01:13up to 20 years in prison, along with fines or whipping upon conviction.
01:18The Court set September 12 for sentencing.
01:21Azman was denied bail due to the three murder charges.
