00:00An ex-Eastern Sabah Security Command officer is suing former Inspector General of Police
00:07Ahil Sani Abdullah Sani and 10 others for RM100 million in damages.
00:12Mat Zaki Zain said he was falsely charged with the murder of an e-hailing driver in
00:17January last year.
00:19Mat Zaki said he and three others, whom he did not name, filed the suit at the Tawau
00:23High Court on August 15.
00:26He said their reputation and good name were damaged after the criminal case against him
00:31and his co-plaintiffs went viral in mainstream and alternative news, as well as social media.
00:37Despite their discharge and acquittal from the murder charge, Mat Zaki said they continue
00:41to be treated as if they were guilty of the crime and face various forms of pressure.
00:47According to the statement, the suit also names former Selangor Police Chief Jalil Hassan
00:51and current KL and Selangor Police Chiefs Ruzdi Issa and Hussein Omar Khan as defendants.
00:57Mat Zaki said the plaintiffs were still recovering from the trauma caused by the defendants'
01:02wrongful actions and accusations.
