00:00On the first night of the Democratic National Convention, the keynote speech went to the
00:04current President of the United States, Joe Biden, in what really could be a swan song
00:09for him as he took to what is arguably going to be the biggest stage for the rest of his
00:15presidency.
00:16Five months remaining of that presidency, and he hopes that Kamala Harris will be the
00:20person to succeed him in office.
00:23It was more of a State of the Union type of speech at times, Joe Biden reflecting on his
00:28record as President of the United States.
00:31He also took some swipes at Donald Trump, calling him a loser and a sucker, echoing
00:36the language that Donald Trump is reported to have used about dead veterans and dead
00:40soldiers at a war site in France.
00:44And that was something that carried throughout the speech, but he also touched on Kamala
00:48Harris herself, calling her tough, experienced, and saying that choosing her as his Vice President
00:55was the best decision he'd made in his career.
00:58He urged people to vote for Kamala Harris on November 5th, and also touched on abortion
01:02rights, saying that Kamala Harris will restore Roe v. Wade, the right to have an abortion
01:08that was taken away a few years ago by the Supreme Court under Donald Trump's instruction.
01:14He says that she will return that to be the law of the land.
01:17That, of course, has been a real lightning rod issue here in the United States, Democrats
01:21hoping they can run on that to win some of those moderate Republican votes, which could
01:25prove crucial in this election, with Kamala Harris slowly pulling ahead of Donald Trump
01:31in the polls.
01:32They hope that the momentum through the DNC stays on Kamala Harris' side and goes all
01:36the way through to November.
