00:00:00Glad you're here at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, home of the Reds since 2003.
00:00:17The show brings you game one of a big four-game set.
00:00:21It's Pittsburgh going up against the Cincinnati Reds.
00:00:25John Chobhie and Chris Singleton with you, and Chris, we've got an opportunity to watch
00:00:28one of the true superstars of the sport, number 18.
00:00:32Always exciting to see him in action, and it seems like he consistently finds a way
00:00:36to impact the game.
00:00:37Yeah, Boogie, it's offensively at the plate, defensively when he's on the bases, and this
00:00:42guy's just a heads-up player, but he's got so much talent, and he makes the most of that.
00:00:46I believe it starts with his preparation, because you never see him give away an at-bat.
00:00:55Just about ready to go, on the hill and coming off a great start, number 34, and Singley,
00:01:01he likes pitching at home.
00:01:03Well, truly for him, there is no place like home.
00:01:06He's been so dominant here, and as a teammate, you expect him when pitching at home this
00:01:11year to go out and dominate just as he has.
00:01:13The fans expect it, and I think everyone around here knows that he's a good pitcher.
00:01:17Even though we don't see the same splits on the road, we're going to start to see that
00:01:21translate as well.
00:01:22James Bell, getting ready to hit.
00:01:25Bell, having a really nice—definitely a Rookie of the Year candidate, and a pitch.
00:01:36And first offering is fouled off.
00:01:39First pitch, 640.
00:01:51Second pitch, and one fouled off.
00:02:05Kicks and deals, and one and two.
00:02:17And a right-hander deals, and it's even up.
00:02:21Righty delivers, just misses, and the count's full.
00:02:51That's smashed toward center.
00:03:10Pulls it down, and he makes the catch.
00:03:12And there's one down.
00:03:14Let's take a look at our lineup.
00:03:19Collectively, they're swinging the bats really well right now, Chris, scoring a lot of runs.
00:03:23Indeed.
00:03:24It seems to be contagious right now, top to bottom of this lineup.
00:03:27They just seem to be feeding off of one another.
00:03:30One thing I watched in their batting practice is, although they've been scoring a lot of
00:03:33runs lately, they're still paying attention to the details.
00:03:36A lot of balls back up the middle, the other way, and that's really the building block
00:03:40for great offensive production.
00:03:52Number 15 watches that one for a strike, standing in here with one down.
00:04:06No score, just getting started, top of the first.
00:04:16Fought off foul.
00:04:30Hit weakly on the ground.
00:04:32Morgan handles the chance, tosses to first.
00:04:35Quick start here this evening, two out, top of the first.
00:04:44Two outs, base is empty.
00:04:46Here's some real power at the plate.
00:04:48Josh Gibson, year in and year out, this guy an MVP candidate.
00:04:56In there in its own one.
00:05:07And the pitch, that one hammered, but pulled foul.
00:05:20Good pitch.
00:05:23Fouled off, he was late.
00:05:34Two down, nobody on.
00:05:50And a foul ball, he stays alive.
00:06:02The hitter kicks, deals, and a swing and a miss, and that's that.
00:06:09No scores, we head to the bottom of the first.
00:06:24Bottom of the first, and today's starter, Satchel Paige, and this will be a tough test
00:06:30for him.
00:06:31Being on the road has not been that kind to his numbers.
00:06:33Well, I think he's just got to trick himself mentally and put himself in a comfort level
00:06:39like he does at home.
00:06:40I know it's not the same being on the road as away from home in terms of being able to
00:06:44have a routine and be consistent with it, but this game is so much mental, and he's
00:06:49going to have to find a way to play a mind game with himself to move through this ball
00:06:53game and get a W.
00:06:55The wind of the pitch.
00:06:58Now a drag on third base side, and he picks it up in foul territory.
00:07:27Good chew now.
00:07:48Line drive.
00:07:49Fires to first on the run.
00:07:52Up on down.
00:07:58Here's the lineup for the Reds.
00:08:18Barry Larkin, the next to hit for the Reds.
00:08:21He's turned into one of the best shortstops in the game.
00:08:32Swing and a ball popped up, and there's two down.
00:08:46Stepping in the long ball threat, Johnny Bench.
00:08:49Kind of a throwback.
00:08:50No batting gloves.
00:08:58I think if you ask most baseball fans, their vote for greatest catcher of all time would
00:09:02be this man right here, Johnny Bench.
00:09:05The wind of the pitch.
00:09:09That's off the mark, and it's one and one.
00:09:12If Bench isn't the greatest of all time, he's on a very short list.
00:09:16Rookie of the year, two-time MVP, ten gold gloves.
00:09:20What didn't he do?
00:09:21That to right.
00:09:22That drops in.
00:09:23Plays it on a hop.
00:09:28He's been swinging it really well lately.
00:09:30When you pop a ball up like that, you don't expect it to get you a knock too often, but
00:09:35right there, somehow he got it to drop in behind first base, and that's where no one
00:09:39could get to it.
00:09:42Now the Reds' cleanup hitter, Tony Perez.
00:09:45He's got the power, but great contact skills.
00:09:48One of the best contact hitters in the game.
00:09:51First offering, and it just misses.
00:09:53And I'll tell you something else about Bench.
00:09:55He was at the heart of one of the greatest teams of all time, that big red machine, and
00:10:00he deserves a lot of credit for their success.
00:10:10Second offering upstairs.
00:10:24Ripped to third.
00:10:25They get the force, gets him easily, ends the inning.
00:10:30So one left for Cincinnati, scoreless after one.
00:10:40Back here at Great American Ballpark, here's a big power threat.
00:10:43Number four.
00:10:44Leading off for Pittsburgh, the center fielder, number four.
00:10:52The pitch.
00:10:56Not sure if he was expecting for the pitcher to come right at him, but he got a nice cookie
00:11:00there and just watched it the entire way.
00:11:08All in one now.
00:11:11And there's a ball.
00:11:23And a count one and two.
00:11:38And that skips in the dirt.
00:12:05Puts out to center field.
00:12:09Puts the squeeze on it, and there's one down.
00:12:21Here's a speed threat.
00:12:22Pops Lloyd.
00:12:23What a season it's been for him.
00:12:25He has supplied a lot of power and that average.
00:12:35Bunt attempt, but that goes foul.
00:12:39Second inning here, no score.
00:12:46Pitch misses inside, and a count is one and one.
00:13:00At the belt and fires.
00:13:15And now the count is even.
00:13:23Left hand batter waits.
00:13:25Foul ball.
00:13:28Some real good life going through the zone on that one.
00:13:37One down, base is empty.
00:13:40Pitch misses there, and the count's full.
00:13:56Kicks and fires.
00:13:57The 3-2 is off the outside edge, and that is ball four.
00:14:02What a battle.
00:14:03It's not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch, and I tell you what, he earned that walk.
00:14:08Buck Leonard, the next to hit.
00:14:11Runner on the goal.
00:14:13It's a pitch out.
00:14:14Throw.
00:14:15Got him.
00:14:16What a laser from Johnny Bench.
00:14:19These guys were right on top of it.
00:14:20They guessed right on the first pitch.
00:14:22Pitch out.
00:14:23Tells me they had some good data or scouting report.
00:14:25Maybe it's just a feeling, but either way, perfect execution, great throw and tag, and
00:14:30they erased that runner at first.
00:14:33No score here in the second.
00:14:42Next pitch misses.
00:14:43Two balls, no strikes.
00:14:54That one is in for a strike.
00:14:56Back-to-back fastballs in.
00:14:57That last one called for a strike.
00:15:00They go away, but look for them to come back in there to try to finish you off.
00:15:11The 2-1.
00:15:12There's a strike.
00:15:32Looks like a really good fastball today.
00:15:34You can hear that catcher's mitt popping.
00:15:37Looking forward to hearing a lot of that one and this one.
00:15:50Swing and a miss.
00:15:51The velocity blasted it right past him.
00:15:54We'll go to the bottom of the second.
00:15:56No score.
00:16:01Bottom of the second, and ready to hit now for Cincinnati.
00:16:04Number 18.
00:16:06Obviously a guy who makes good contact, hits for average, but one of the things in today's
00:16:11game, the value in the fact that he hits both righties and lefties.
00:16:15That one misses, ball one.
00:16:26This one lifted in the air, left field, makes the grab, one down.
00:16:34And now, Joey Votto, a guy who makes an impact not just at the plate, but also in the field.
00:16:46He's kind of an outlier, especially when guys are consciously sacrificing contact to deliver
00:16:52power.
00:16:53Yeah, his swing is so good, it's in the zone a long time.
00:16:58He gets the barrel to it a lot, and that produces more base hits.
00:17:08First pitch doesn't find the zone.
00:17:14Left hand hitter waits.
00:17:19And a swing and a line drive at a right field, and that's a base hit.
00:17:23So a man aboard now with one away.
00:17:25He needed that one.
00:17:26It's been a tough stretch at the plate lately.
00:17:29Good job getting the foot down so he could catch it out front and pull it.
00:17:32Turned on it nicely for the knock.
00:17:39Now George Foster, good defender, he's been inconsistent offensively.
00:17:50And the first pitch misses for ball one.
00:17:52When you look at the elite teams in the game right now, there is going to be the slug,
00:17:58no question about it.
00:17:59But the really good offensive teams combine slug with more contact, with less swing and
00:18:04miss.
00:18:10Now a high fly ball out to left center.
00:18:12Bell makes a move towards the gap and puts the squeeze on that one.
00:18:17And there's two away.
00:18:26Now at the plate, Pete Rose, good contact guy, good defender.
00:18:32Here's a guy who is one of the best in the business.
00:18:34You're talking about looking for a hit somewhere, and this is a guy you go to.
00:18:39Yeah, he's so fun to watch as a hitter.
00:18:43That's from both sides of the plate, and he's so rare in that he really makes a lot
00:18:47of contact batting both righty and lefty, and it takes a ton of time in the cage to
00:18:52maintain both of those swings.
00:19:11First offering upstairs.
00:19:23There's a strike.
00:19:24You know, but one thing about being a great switch hitter, it's so tough to keep both
00:19:28of your swings sharp.
00:19:29I mean, sometimes it can feel like a long time in between it bats against the lefty
00:19:33or vice versa.
00:19:34He can work on both swings, but there's only so much a guy can do in the batting cage.
00:19:51Two outs, swing and a miss, and that is that.
00:19:56Reds leave one.
00:19:57We'll move to the third with no score.
00:20:09Well here we go.
00:20:10Top of the third scoreless game, and now the rookie second baseman, number 30.
00:20:15The second baseman, number 30.
00:20:21The right hander back to work.
00:20:38Next offering is in for a strike.
00:20:40Quickly into an 0-2 count.
00:20:42Both pitches were down in the zone.
00:20:43I think you set your sights a little bit higher because you'll have a tendency to chase if
00:20:48you look down in that area.
00:20:51Got him swinging on the curve ball.
00:20:53Lead off man retired here in the third.
00:20:55Well, clearly just anxious right there, and understandably so in an 0-2 count.
00:21:00You feel like you've got a lot of plate to cover, and you don't want to strike out, and
00:21:05you end up striking out.
00:21:06That's just one of those pitches where it's not over the plate, but because you committed
00:21:10to it as it was leaving his hand, by the time you realized it wasn't going to be in the
00:21:13zone, it's too late to hold up your swing.
00:21:16And here is William Johnson.
00:21:19The first offering is fouled off.
00:21:38The pitch.
00:21:43That's where you want it.
00:21:44It's a good miss.
00:21:45Hard hit, left field, base hit.
00:21:56So they get a man aboard with a one-out single.
00:21:59I'm sure he feels really good about that one.
00:22:03Absolutely punished that pitch.
00:22:05Wasn't fooled in the slightest.
00:22:06109 off the bat, I think that means you put a pretty good swing on it.
00:22:10And now they've got some speed on first, so we'll see if they try to get him into motion.
00:22:15And the batter now, Monty Irvin.
00:22:18First pitch, not close.
00:22:20Good speed on the base pass.
00:22:22He handles the bat very well.
00:22:24I wouldn't be surprised if the skipper puts on some type of hit and run or run and hit.
00:22:38And there's the strike.
00:22:39Well, you've got to find a way to catch up to that pitch.
00:22:41Perhaps shorten the swing, eliminate the stride.
00:22:43That one came in hot, but right down the middle, you're saying to yourself, how did
00:22:47I miss that pitch?
00:22:48Got to make a quick adjustment.
00:22:58Next offering is in for a strike.
00:23:00That's a great take right there.
00:23:01Even though it's a strike, with the situation, runner on first base, you want to keep the
00:23:05ball off the ground.
00:23:06And you swing at that pitch, most likely you roll into a double play.
00:23:15That misses the zone and the count is even two and two.
00:23:29And the pitch just misses the mark outside the zone.
00:23:45The pitch, good plate appearance there.
00:23:48Able to take the walk.
00:23:49Pretty good spot on the outside, but just couldn't quite clip the zone.
00:23:53That's a stone cold take.
00:23:56So up next, James Bell.
00:23:59So RBI spot, but Chris, this is a guy that is not really swinging the bat all that well
00:24:04here.
00:24:05In this situation, you have a real good opportunity to get swings and misses and record a strikeout.
00:24:09I think you attack him in this spot.
00:24:14In the dirt.
00:24:19And now, a single might score two.
00:24:28Top of the third, no score.
00:24:35Next offering upstairs.
00:24:37I think ultimately, you want to tie him up, get the ball in on the plate so that he can't
00:24:42get the barrel to it and hit it to the outfield.
00:24:52And the righty deals.
00:24:53Fly ball to right.
00:24:54Rose drifts towards it, makes the catch.
00:24:55And there's two away.
00:24:56Maybe caught that one off the end just a little bit.
00:24:57Couldn't quite barrel it up enough to really drive it.
00:24:58Number 15.
00:24:59Number 15 will hit next.
00:25:01If you don't get ahead in the count, you can forget about having any success against him.
00:25:21That one's in there.
00:25:220 and 1.
00:25:23Not what he's looking for there in the 0-0 count.
00:25:25Looks like he wants the ball down in the zone.
00:25:30Second and third, two down.
00:25:38That one down the line.
00:25:40That's a fair ball and it's getting into the corner.
00:25:42And that's going to be a double and it'll score two.
00:25:45The run comes in from second and they lead by two.
00:25:49It's a two-run double and they have the lead.
00:26:06And now the catcher comes up to him, Josh Gibson.
00:26:16The pitch just misses.
00:26:24Two outs and one in scoring position.
00:26:34Swing and this is ripped down the right field line.
00:26:37Way back there.
00:26:38Out of here.
00:26:39He flexes his power with that swing.
00:26:46Home run number 20 on the year.
00:26:48And they throw a pair on the board.
00:26:50It's 4-0.
00:26:51Man, I hated knuckleball.
00:27:02Seems like it's so hard to square them up and hit the ball hard.
00:27:05But this guy had no problem at all.
00:27:07It was like he was born to do this.
00:27:10Really good piece of hitting.
00:27:11Just a sound swing and he stayed within himself.
00:27:22Two outs.
00:27:23Nobody on.
00:27:24Now here is number four.
00:27:31Nice pitch and he just misses.
00:27:47And the right-hander deals.
00:27:50Popped up to the left.
00:27:51Into foul ground.
00:27:52No trouble here.
00:27:53Puts it away for the out.
00:27:54And that is that.
00:27:57We head down to the home half of inning number three.
00:28:00The All-Stars out front, 4-0.
00:28:11Back here in Cincinnati.
00:28:13Set for the bottom of the third.
00:28:14And now Joe Morgan.
00:28:16The Reds in striking distance but have some work to do.
00:28:20Boog, it starts with a laid-off band.
00:28:21Need a good at-bat out of him right here.
00:28:27First offering and it just misses.
00:28:45The line to kick the pitch.
00:28:50Fastball catches the corner at the knees.
00:28:52That was absolute gas.
00:28:54Triple digits on the gun.
00:28:55It's just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by.
00:28:59Next one misses.
00:29:00And a count two and one.
00:29:06Here comes the pitch.
00:29:07Now front.
00:29:35Pulls that one foul.
00:29:36And now it's three and two.
00:29:44And here it comes.
00:29:48Cut on and miss.
00:29:49Struck him out.
00:29:51One away.
00:29:52Gets him swinging with that screwball and it was a good one.
00:29:55You know, the screwball is often compared to a changeup because of the velocity and
00:29:59the arm side movement.
00:30:00But the big difference is what you saw right there.
00:30:03A lot more depth or drop than most changeups and it caused him to swing right over the
00:30:08top.
00:30:10Stepping in number nine.
00:30:15And that's in there for strike one.
00:30:32That one just missed off the outside edge.
00:30:51And a foul ball.
00:31:01And a ball and two strikes.
00:31:06Bounce to the right side.
00:31:08And foul ball.
00:31:15And a one-two again.
00:31:20Swing and he breaks his bat.
00:31:22Snags it for the second out.
00:31:26And the batter number 11, shortstop, Barry Larkin.
00:31:33And the batter now, Barry Larkin, singing.
00:31:37He's a guy that covers both sides of the plate about as well as anyone in the sport.
00:31:41How difficult is that to do?
00:31:43Well, just look at the back of my bubblegum card.
00:31:45You'll see how hard it is.
00:31:46These guys are great, man.
00:31:48They have the ability to look out there, but also to be able to turn on the inside pitch.
00:31:53Those that can really sharpen things on the outer half, those are the ones that become
00:31:57elite.
00:32:09Kicks and deals.
00:32:14Ground ball up the middle.
00:32:15That's a base hit.
00:32:16And that keeps the inning going.
00:32:21Really nice job staying up the middle with his approach.
00:32:24He didn't try to do too much with the pitch.
00:32:26Just shot it through the infield.
00:32:27And you can feel this crowd waking up a bit here as the guys are starting to make some
00:32:31noise with their bats.
00:32:34Two outs, runner at first.
00:32:36Next for Cincinnati, Johnny Bench.
00:32:38This guy has turned into a beast.
00:32:42Keeping an eye on him.
00:32:54First offering misses the mark.
00:32:56Johnny Bench did a lot in his career to change the catching position.
00:32:59This guy popularized the one-handed catching stance, which not a lot of guys were using
00:33:04at the time.
00:33:302-0.
00:33:32Down the right field line and a base hit.
00:33:38Larkin on his horse, coming home.
00:33:41Now a relay to the plate, in to score from first, it's 4-1.
00:33:46Wasting no time, he's two for two now on the night, and just a triple and home run away
00:33:52from the cycle.
00:33:53Seriously, we're starting with this already.
00:34:01Man at second here with two away.
00:34:08So now here's the Reds' cleanup hitter, Tony Perez.
00:34:11He's 0-1.
00:34:19And first offering is fouled off.
00:34:21Bench used that unique stance and he had amazing hands and tangled gloves to prove it.
00:34:29Hitter at second, two down.
00:34:39Lined to second, snagged on the bounce.
00:34:42On to first, that ends the inning and stops things from getting out of hand.
00:34:59Start of the fourth, now it's going to be Pops Lloyd.
00:35:13And a pitch.
00:35:14And Bench was one of the first catchers to use a hinged mid as well.
00:35:18And a pitch.
00:35:33Swing and a miss, and it's not a good two.
00:35:47And it stays alive.
00:35:48Well, he hasn't quite settled in out there.
00:35:50Four runs in three innings.
00:35:52He's going to have to have some quick one, two, three innings to pitch deep into this
00:35:55ballgame.
00:36:03The 0-2.
00:36:06And ball one.
00:36:07I don't like to say he wasted a pitch.
00:36:09I think that was a purpose pitch.
00:36:11Change the eye level, have him look up.
00:36:12Now go back exactly where you want to go.
00:36:16He delivers.
00:36:17Got him.
00:36:18And now one away.
00:36:26And here's the first baseman, Buck Leonard.
00:36:28Singing, you can't ask for anything more.
00:36:30This guy checks all the boxes offensively.
00:36:33He's the ultimate professional, and it doesn't just start at game time.
00:36:37It starts in the afternoon, the way he prepares and gets ready for the ballgame.
00:36:41I tell you what, his teammates feed off of the leadership that he shows on and off the
00:36:45field.
00:36:48And a pitch.
00:37:01Now three and O.
00:37:16And a pitch.
00:37:19Popped up.
00:37:21Bench should have this one.
00:37:24It puts the squeeze on it.
00:37:26That's out number two.
00:37:31Number 30.
00:37:35Now it's the second baseman.
00:37:36Number 30.
00:37:38This is a guy you got to keep an eye on when he digs in.
00:37:41Definitely been known to drop a drag bunt from time to time, and he's pretty good at
00:37:45it, Chris.
00:37:46Yeah, and he creates a sense of urgency for the defense because of the speed, because
00:37:51of the ability to put down that bunt.
00:38:02Liner, base hit.
00:38:09Well the last 10 games or so have been anything but fun at the plate for him, so that one
00:38:13has to feel good.
00:38:15Nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line.
00:38:18You know, hitters, they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite
00:38:22field, and it doesn't always translate into the game, but right there it did, and he did
00:38:26it perfectly.
00:38:27Checks over to first, back safely.
00:38:35Next to hit, William Johnson.
00:38:37First pitch doesn't find the zone.
00:38:53At the belt and fires.
00:39:04It's a strike.
00:39:20Right into the plate, and there he goes.
00:39:23In the air, right field.
00:39:25Makes the catch, and that'll do it.
00:39:40Bottom of the fourth, and now the first baseman, number 18.
00:39:50Page back to work.
00:39:54Missed.
00:40:00Below.
00:40:15What a foul ball.
00:40:26And a 2-1 on the way.
00:40:30And that's outside.
00:40:31Well, these guys have had a hard time scoring in this one.
00:40:34The guy up there on the mound wants to keep attacking, make sure that they don't get any
00:40:38confidence.
00:40:39And there's ball four.
00:40:46I don't think he really wanted to pitch to him right there anyhow.
00:40:49And the batter now is Joey Votto.
00:41:01First pitch, and he just misses.
00:41:28And that one's fouled off.
00:41:52Strike two.
00:42:00Runner at first, and no outs here.
00:42:23Right hander kicks, deals.
00:42:32Got him.
00:42:38One out in the bottom of the fourth.
00:42:46Man, it's almost unfair that he can just pull that knuckleball out of his pocket.
00:42:51And throw it up there in addition to his other pitches.
00:42:54It's unlike anything else he throws.
00:42:56And because he doesn't throw it all the time, you just don't get a good look at it throughout
00:43:01and at bat.
00:43:02George Foster, the next to hit for the Reds.
00:43:07In there for strike one.
00:43:26The pitch.
00:43:28And he chases a high fastball there.
00:43:30Really consistent release point.
00:43:33He's been able to pitch up and down and have excellent command in both locations.
00:43:37And he deals.
00:43:39Next offering is outside.
00:43:41Rarely will you see a pitcher just waste a pitch like that.
00:43:44The batter wasn't even tempted to swing.
00:43:46Every pitch needs to have a purpose so that it can set up a following pitch to help you get that out.
00:43:57And a foul ball.
00:43:58He stays alive.
00:44:11The pitch.
00:44:14High fly ball right field.
00:44:30Drops into the glove.
00:44:32Out.
00:44:33Number two.
00:44:38The glove.
00:44:39Out.
00:44:40Number two.
00:44:44The right fielder.
00:44:45Number 14.
00:44:46Pete.
00:44:48And at first, Pete Rose, the next to hit for the Reds.
00:45:02In the first pitch misses for ball one.
00:45:16And that's down and away.
00:45:18When you get ahead in the count, there's no doubt that the success rate goes up.
00:45:22And that's what he's been doing.
00:45:23It's made a big impact for him in recent games.
00:45:32The 2-0 is in for a strike.
00:45:41The pitch.
00:45:43On the ground right side.
00:45:45He'll do it himself.
00:45:46That is the inning.
00:45:49So one left for Cincinnati.
00:45:52And this is still a 4-1 ball game.
00:46:04And welcome back.
00:46:05And now the right fielder, Monte Irvin.
00:46:18And the pitch.
00:46:20And that first offering is fouled off.
00:46:32Here comes the pitch.
00:46:34The other way.
00:46:36And a base hit.
00:46:37So now back to the top of the order.
00:46:41Just so sound in his mechanics.
00:46:43Hits against a firm front side.
00:46:45And the hands just continue to carry through the middle of the field.
00:46:50Back to the top of the lineup.
00:46:52And stepping in is the speedy James Bell.
00:46:58Puts a bunt down right side.
00:47:00Flips it behind his back.
00:47:02Throw, save.
00:47:04And that was close.
00:47:06It doesn't surprise anyone when he gets on base by dropping down a pawn.
00:47:09I mean, this is just the latest example of him using his speed to his advantage
00:47:14and showing off his skills with the bat.
00:47:16That was very nice.
00:47:18Now the Reds manager is out of the dugout and will make a move to the pen.
00:47:22Number 34 gives way.
00:47:34Will right into the game.
00:47:36And he'll do his best to keep this close.
00:47:38At this point in the ball game, we're talking about middle innings.
00:47:41And with a little length out of this arm coming out of the bullpen,
00:47:45we'll see just how many outs he's able to give his skipper.
00:47:49Number 15 now at the plate.
00:47:57Next pitch downstairs.
00:47:59And that is ball one.
00:48:11Kicks and fires.
00:48:14In the air, fairly deep to right field.
00:48:17Rose settles underneath it.
00:48:19Puts the squeeze on that one.
00:48:21Runner tags at second.
00:48:23To third, not in time.
00:48:25And it's runners at the corners with one gone.
00:48:30And now it's going to be Josh Gibson.
00:48:33He's already homered here in this one.
00:48:46Not the easiest thing.
00:48:47When you're talking about a guy, it's, you know,
00:48:49perhaps it's going to be in the rotation,
00:48:52maybe a long relief guy to not start an inning,
00:48:54to come into an inning with pressure on it
00:48:56and try to get yourself comfortable.
00:48:59Next offering is in for a strike.
00:49:01Big pitch right here.
00:49:02He's going to try to make a pitch that's going to produce a strikeout
00:49:05or a ground ball double play.
00:49:12First and third, one down.
00:49:19Next pitch is downstairs.
00:49:21Activity in the bullpen for the Reds.
00:49:23Number 47 appears to be getting loose.
00:49:26Number 6 getting loose as well.
00:49:36And the right-hander deals.
00:49:38Had a foul ball.
00:49:39He stays alive.
00:49:41Very dominant with that fastball inside.
00:49:43Hitter's going to be conscious of that.
00:49:45Now you have the outer half of the plate to work with
00:49:48out there on the mound.
00:49:51Got him looking.
00:49:53That's the second out.
00:49:54You know, that's going to be very frustrating for this guy.
00:49:57He knows the strike zone extremely well.
00:49:59And you know what?
00:50:00Good hitters are not going to compromise.
00:50:02He'll take that punch out, but ultimately stick with his plan
00:50:05and have more success than anything else.
00:50:09Digging in, it's the speeding outfielder, number 4.
00:50:17First offering misses the block.
00:50:32Left-hand batter waits.
00:50:34And that one clips the corner.
00:50:37Runners on first and third, two away.
00:50:45This one is smashed down the right field line.
00:50:48Way back there.
00:50:49Fair and gone.
00:51:13Well, I'm sure there's a big grin on his face right now, Boog.
00:51:16He's probably had some of those that didn't stay fair.
00:51:19But off the bat, it looked like he was going to bend foul,
00:51:21was able to keep it in there, tucked it nicely,
00:51:24and he gets a jog around the bases.
00:51:26Good for him.
00:51:27At the play, pops Lloyd.
00:51:30First pitch, and that's in for a strike.
00:51:42Two outs.
00:51:46Not close with that one, but he gets him to go after it.
00:52:05The line of the pitch.
00:52:09And it takes low for ball one.
00:52:25The line of the pitch.
00:52:29Swing and a miss.
00:52:30Struck him out.
00:52:31That ends the frame.
00:52:33But the big blow at the end comes right here, a three-run homer.
00:52:38It's 7-1.
00:52:45Back here at the ballpark, bottom of the inning,
00:52:47here's a speed threat, Joe Morgan.
00:52:51Clearly down in this ballgame and you can't look at the deficit
00:52:54and try to get it all back in one swing.
00:52:56It's got to come one at bat at a time
00:52:58and even shrink it down smaller pitch to pitch.
00:53:01Make that guy on the mound work to get you out.
00:53:05Kicks and deals.
00:53:11Well, he didn't like those first two pitches down an 0-2 hole.
00:53:14He's going to have to battle, hope he gets a mistake.
00:53:16One guy that was really great once the count got to two strikes,
00:53:20Miguel Cabrera.
00:53:23The next pitch misses outside and a count one and two.
00:53:37Comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt.
00:53:39Up with it, fires the first, gets him.
00:53:42One away on a dropped third strike.
00:53:45Number nine.
00:53:50And now here's a speed threat, outfielder number nine.
00:53:54He's a guy, Chris's highlights include some of the best throws
00:53:57from the outfield that you will ever see.
00:54:00Definitely one of the best arms of the sport.
00:54:04First offering and it just misses.
00:54:07Yeah, the infielders and the catcher can never give up on a play
00:54:10because if this guy thinks he has a chance,
00:54:12he's going to throw from a warning track if he has to.
00:54:15The next offering is in for a strike.
00:54:22The wind of the pitch.
00:54:27Fly ball down the line.
00:54:29Irvin on the move towards foul ground.
00:54:31Makes a nice grab on a full spread.
00:54:34That's out number two.
00:54:36Batter number 11, shortstop, Barry.
00:54:40In out for the Reds, Barry Larkin.
00:54:55First pitch, just misses.
00:54:58He's got to be pretty proud of this outing so far.
00:55:00Sometimes guys cower coming into a ballpark like this,
00:55:03but he's attacked hitters.
00:55:05Pitching on the road like this is very impressive.
00:55:08This has been a treat to watch.
00:55:11Shoot out, going on.
00:55:15Foul ball there.
00:55:24Here's a 1-1.
00:55:29Late swing, fouled off.
00:55:31I want to start that load a little bit sooner because that could be low.
00:55:39A 1-2.
00:55:43And a ball evens the count.
00:55:45They've got a potent lineup.
00:55:47And when you think about teams capable of rallying from this kind of deficit,
00:55:50they're right at the top of the list.
00:55:53And here it comes.
00:55:58And it goes just foul.
00:56:01This batter has to understand his job is to get on base however he can.
00:56:05He gets hit by a pitch if he walks, maybe even singles.
00:56:08But you want to get the heart of the order up to the plate.
00:56:13Up the middle.
00:56:14That's a base hit.
00:56:15So a two-out not keeps the inning alive.
00:56:20Got to love the resiliency shown in that bat.
00:56:23Battling with two strikes.
00:56:25Good extension on that swing.
00:56:26Took the pitch on the outside part of the plate and drove it up the middle.
00:56:30He let it travel just enough.
00:56:33Johnny Bench, the next to hit for the Reds.
00:56:36This guy with big-time power and an elite defender.
00:56:42First pitch doesn't find the zone.
00:57:03And the 1-0 miss is low.
00:57:15The 2-0 is in for a strike.
00:57:18If he doesn't get a knock right here, that pitch he just took is going to eat at him for a while.
00:57:22You might not see another pitch like that from a top-level guy like this.
00:57:32Strike.
00:57:48Right delivers.
00:57:50Stays alive.
00:58:02Strike.
00:58:10Next offering is foul bat.
00:58:25Strike.
00:58:32Strike.
00:58:38Here's the 2-2.
00:58:40Swing and a miss, and he got him.
00:58:42And that ends the inning.
00:58:44Reds lead 1.
00:58:45They're down 7-1.
00:58:48I know you talking about me, guaranteed.
00:58:50Oh, yeah, I know you talking about me.
00:58:52You know you say I'm the best they ever do it.
00:58:55You know I'm the best they ever do it.
00:58:58Listen, I'm...
00:59:01Top of the sixth inning, and here's the first baseman, Buck Leonard.
00:59:07The first baseman, Buck Leonard.
00:59:11Strike.
00:59:18But why'd he kick the pitch?
00:59:22Ball one low.
00:59:31That one missed.
00:59:37But why'd he kick the 2-0?
00:59:39There's a strike.
00:59:45The pitch.
01:00:03Curveball drops in for a strike.
01:00:053-1 count.
01:00:06Saying to himself, I've got to get a fastball here.
01:00:09Just spins it.
01:00:10Get me over breaking ball to bring the count full.
01:00:13The punch out there, and a 1-0 win.
01:00:16Now just a beautiful fastball in the inside corner for that backwards K right there.
01:00:21I think the hitter saw it all the way coming from that opposite arm angle,
01:00:24so I got to think he was looking away and just got locked up by the hard stuff
01:00:28boring in on his hands.
01:00:32And now here is number 30.
01:00:37That one's in there 0-1.
01:00:54Now fly ball to right center.
01:00:57Snags it on the run.
01:00:59Then there's two away.
01:01:01William Johnson.
01:01:04It's amazing.
01:01:06We get a chance to talk to a lot of opposing managers.
01:01:09This guy scares managers on the other team as much as anyone.
01:01:13And he gets to fly beneath the radar with the other more recognizable names
01:01:17in this lineup.
01:01:19Swings through that one, 0-1.
01:01:25And the pitch.
01:01:28And the pitch.
01:01:32And that's downstairs and outside.
01:01:42Next offering upstairs.
01:01:57Righty to the plate.
01:02:01Up the middle.
01:02:03What a stop.
01:02:04Gathers and throws, and they get the out.
01:02:07That was a great job of doing the math.
01:02:09He had the perfect angle.
01:02:11Diving stop completes the play, and that is the inning.
01:02:20Back here at Great American Ballpark,
01:02:22John Schauby with Chris Singleton in the booth
01:02:24and leading off the bottom of the sixth, Tony Perez.
01:02:42The pitch.
01:02:46And that one just misses a ball and no strikes.
01:02:51And the pitch.
01:02:55That one's in there, and that's strike one.
01:03:01The pitch.
01:03:06They try to get him to chase a slider down and away.
01:03:212-1 now.
01:03:26And that's in there at the knees.
01:03:41And now it's filled up.
01:03:51And the pitch.
01:03:55Swings through that, and it's a strikeout.
01:03:58One away, bottom of the sixth.
01:04:00He came out of his mechanics there.
01:04:02Typically likes to shoot the ball the other way,
01:04:05but that time, a little anxious.
01:04:12And now the first baseman, number 18.
01:04:21First pitch, and he just misses.
01:04:35Left-hand hitter waits.
01:04:39Upstairs.
01:04:41Well, it's been a very impressive outing so far.
01:04:43His command has been a big part of it.
01:04:45Even when he misses, he misses outside his strike zone,
01:04:49which is exactly what a pitcher wants.
01:04:55The pitch.
01:04:58Up.
01:05:15On the ground first.
01:05:17He handles it himself.
01:05:192-up, 2-down.
01:05:21He's doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air.
01:05:24Let's the defense work behind him with another ground ball.
01:05:27Good execution.
01:05:29Two out, space is empty.
01:05:31Joey Votto, the next to hit.
01:05:45And the first pitch misses for ball one.
01:05:55Right-hander kicks, deals.
01:06:00That misses the zone.
01:06:022-0.
01:06:17The pitch.
01:06:20The pitch.
01:06:26It really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today.
01:06:30Good fastball, excellent slider,
01:06:32but they've not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there.
01:06:45And the pitch.
01:06:503-2.
01:07:10On the ground right side, and that one handled.
01:07:14Over to first, and Votto is retired.
01:07:17That's out number three.
01:07:19We're through six full.
01:07:21The All-Stars leading this one 7-1.
01:07:27We go to the top of the seventh.
01:07:29Now it's the right fielder, Monty Irvin.
01:07:35White back to work.
01:07:39Just missed.
01:07:44Kicks and fires.
01:07:48Swings, fouls it off, and he breaks his back.
01:08:02That one ripped. Can't glove it cleanly.
01:08:06Not in time.
01:08:08Great effort, but it didn't feel hit.
01:08:18So the lineup flips over.
01:08:20And now James Bell for the fourth time tonight.
01:08:26In the air, out towards right center.
01:08:29Makes a nice running catch.
01:08:32And there's one down.
01:08:39Now batting.
01:08:41Now batting.
01:08:43Number 15.
01:08:52Now the number two hitter, number 15.
01:09:05And first offering is fouled off.
01:09:08And that first offering is fouled off.
01:09:11Always tough to turn two on a speedster like this.
01:09:13It's even harder with him coming out of the left-handed batter's box.
01:09:16You really need something hit hard on the ground
01:09:18that they can handle to turn two quickly.
01:09:24Out towards right center field, number nine.
01:09:27Long run into the gap.
01:09:29Racing makes the catch.
01:09:31Two-way down.
01:09:34The catcher, number three.
01:09:37Josh Gibson.
01:09:45Here's the power-hitting catcher, Josh Gibson.
01:09:48He's a guy who does it all with the lack of contact in today's game.
01:09:52This guy hits for contact, so he delivers average.
01:09:56But there's on-base and slugging, too.
01:09:58First pitch, and he has to get out of the way.
01:10:07And there's a foul ball.
01:10:191-1 now.
01:10:21That's a bullet, but it goes foul.
01:10:37Chopped left side.
01:10:41To first, out number three.
01:10:45Ladies and gentlemen, please join us for the traditional seven-hitting stretch.
01:10:59Bottom of the seventh, and ready to hit now for Cincinnati,
01:11:02George Foster.
01:11:04This is a true five-tool guy.
01:11:07Not very many of them out there, but when he's on the field,
01:11:10you can't take your eye off of him.
01:11:13Fans come to the ballpark to watch him play.
01:11:16And in baseball, to have such a talented player going out there every day
01:11:20and putting on this show.
01:11:22Oh, this one high and deep.
01:11:24Way back there.
01:11:26And that one's gone.
01:11:30He leads the yard to right.
01:11:32He leads the yard to right.
01:11:34Home run number 10 of the year.
01:11:36It's 7-2.
01:11:52That's the exact definition of hitting the ball where it's pitched.
01:11:56Taking that outside fastball and driving it the opposite way out of the ballpark.
01:12:01You want to follow that type of approach.
01:12:04And stepping in is the speed, Pete Rose.
01:12:08This guy, one of the best contact men in the sport as well.
01:12:12Outstanding on the defensive end.
01:12:23He'll run.
01:12:25He'll run.
01:12:30Double barrel action in the bullpen.
01:12:32Smith up and throwing.
01:12:34Day warming up as well.
01:12:47Next offering is downstairs.
01:12:49Well, he missed badly with that 0-2 fastball.
01:12:51Hitter has to understand.
01:12:53He has to try to put him away with that pitch.
01:12:55So, got to stay ready for it.
01:13:02Left-hand batter waits.
01:13:07Lifted in the air, right center field.
01:13:11Got it! Really had to move for that catch.
01:13:14And there's another one.
01:13:16Every day during batting practice,
01:13:18these outfielders get about 10 minutes of balls in the gaps.
01:13:22They practice this, and when the game comes,
01:13:24they make the play perfectly.
01:13:33Morgan, up for the third time here.
01:13:35Watches that one miss.
01:13:48That misses the zone, and that's ball two.
01:13:53And the righty deals.
01:13:59On the ground, out to short.
01:14:01Zips it to first, and they get Morgan for the out.
01:14:12So, back to the top of the red slide-up.
01:14:14Now, here's the Reds' leadoff man, number nine.
01:14:18Bunting, and it's in the air.
01:14:21And makes the play, and that's out number three.
01:14:24One score's in the inning coming on this solo home run.
01:14:28It's now a 7-2 ballgame.
01:14:48Back here in Cincinnati, we're at the top of the eighth.
01:14:51Now it's the power-speed combo, number four.
01:14:57Here comes the pitch.
01:15:01That catches the zone for a strike.
01:15:03Strike one.
01:15:04Some guys are just more confident if they can track that first pitch
01:15:07out of the hand of the pitcher.
01:15:08They don't care if they fall behind 0-1.
01:15:11And he hits a ground ball right side.
01:15:13That's a hit.
01:15:14So, a runner aboard to start the inning.
01:15:21So, digging in, pops Lloyd.
01:15:24This guy is one of the best athletes in the sport.
01:15:30And that one gets away at the plate, and the runner stays where he is.
01:15:35And that one gets away at the plate, and the runner stays where he is.
01:15:46Right-handed reliever.
01:15:47Here comes the pitch.
01:15:48There goes the runner from first, throwing a second-grade jump,
01:15:52and that is a stolen base.
01:15:53It wasn't even close.
01:15:55Clearly not content with the lead they're working with right now,
01:15:57and I like that.
01:15:58I don't think you can get comfortable with a five-run lead in today's game,
01:16:01and now they've got a good chance of adding on.
01:16:05Here's the 0-2.
01:16:08And a foul ball, and he stays alive.
01:16:18And the 0-2.
01:16:19Now he breaks his bat.
01:16:23Not in time, he licks it out.
01:16:30So, they're at the corners now.
01:16:32So, they're at the corners now.
01:16:34And here's the first baseman, Buck Leonard.
01:16:40First offering, and it just misses.
01:16:54Pick-off throw, and he's back in easily.
01:16:56He's back in easily.
01:17:01No outs.
01:17:02Runners at first and third.
01:17:10Next offering misses.
01:17:11Down 2-0.
01:17:13Tough spot right here.
01:17:14A couple runners on.
01:17:15Two-ball count.
01:17:17You can't nibble, but you have to execute and finish your pitch.
01:17:20If you leave something out over the plate, it's going to bring in some runs.
01:17:242-0.
01:17:26Hit on the ground by B2.
01:17:29The throw to first.
01:17:30That's out number one, and a run comes in to score.
01:17:35Now batting, number 30.
01:17:43Here's the second baseman, number 30.
01:17:55In there, and it's own one.
01:18:07Got the bat going too soon, and strike two.
01:18:10That's that slurp right there.
01:18:12He threw it extremely well.
01:18:13Talk about just a ton of breaks.
01:18:15So tough to get that barrel to.
01:18:18Runner leads away at second.
01:18:20High fly ball down the left field line.
01:18:24Makes the grab on the run.
01:18:26And they're 2-0.
01:18:34Now batting, third baseman, William.
01:18:38William Johnson getting ready to hit.
01:18:41It's interesting.
01:18:42William Johnson getting ready to hit.
01:18:45It's interesting.
01:18:46He played a lot defensively, but runs pretty well.
01:18:49So when you're looking at that position, you're not expecting someone that has maybe above average speed, but he does.
01:19:07Hit in the air, right field.
01:19:10No trouble here.
01:19:11Puts it away for the out.
01:19:13And that's the inning.
01:19:14So they pick up a run on two hits.
01:19:16No errors and a man left.
01:19:18Last half of the eighth coming up.
01:19:20The All-Stars on Top 8 to 2.
01:19:28Welcome back.
01:19:29And now the shortstop, Barry Larkin.
01:19:31Leading up for the red.
01:19:33The shortstop, Barry Larkin.
01:19:39And the right-hander back to work.
01:19:43And there's the strike.
01:19:54Towards first.
01:19:57Takes it himself.
01:19:58And that's one away as the leadoff man is out in the eighth.
01:20:02The catcher number five, Johnny Fish.
01:20:08Stepping in the long ball threat, Johnny Bench.
01:20:11He might just be the best hitting catcher in the game today.
01:20:14Well, Boo, he's so valuable.
01:20:16Does a good job behind the plate.
01:20:18But offensively, he's a middle-of-the-order type of bat, especially when you talk about catchers.
01:20:23And their number one job is to handle the pitching staff and prevent runs.
01:20:27This guy is able to add runs by producing them.
01:20:32Hard hit, left side.
01:20:34And that's just foul.
01:20:41The wind of the pitch.
01:20:46Stays alive.
01:21:00Swing and a miss.
01:21:02Struck him out.
01:21:03And there are two outs.
01:21:07Next for Cincinnati, Tony Perez.
01:21:20First offering, misses the mark.
01:21:24That clip's the corner.
01:21:39Flashes the leather on the running catch.
01:21:42And that'll do it.
01:21:43Reds down in order.
01:21:46Flashes the leather on the running catch.
01:21:49And that'll do it.
01:21:50Reds down in order.
01:21:52And it's still 8-2.
01:22:02We go to the ninth, and now the right fielder, Monte Irvin.
01:22:06For the All-Stars, the right fielder, Monte Irvin.
01:22:13The line to kick the pitch.
01:22:17Good eye right there.
01:22:19Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen.
01:22:22Johnny Cueto preparing to come on if needed.
01:22:31Kicked Sandius.
01:22:35Line drive, caught!
01:22:38The left fielder, number one, James Bell.
01:22:44Digging in is the switch hitting outfielder, James Bell.
01:22:56And that's in there for strike one.
01:23:01And he deals.
01:23:07Strike two.
01:23:13And here it comes.
01:23:18Bell puts it in the air out towards left center.
01:23:21Two away.
01:23:27Now batting, number 15.
01:23:32Two outs, base is empty.
01:23:34And now number 15.
01:23:45Check swing to the first pitch.
01:23:47Look down to third.
01:23:48No swing.
01:23:56Next offering is in for a strike.
01:24:05And fouled off.
01:24:14The wind to the pitch.
01:24:18And a foul ball, he stays alive.
01:24:22Line to left.
01:24:24Lays out and makes the play.
01:24:28Great diving catch to end the inning after the pitcher battles through a tough one.
01:24:32That'll fire up the dugout.
01:24:34Time to go hit.
01:24:52New pitcher on now, Smith.
01:24:55And he's got a nice lead to work with.
01:25:02In now for the Reds, number 18.
01:25:12And a pitch.
01:25:15Slider misses outside.
01:25:17Slider misses outside.
01:25:19Smith, a very difficult guy to get hits off of.
01:25:22It's really rare for teams to string stuff together against him.
01:25:26He wins every pitch.
01:25:27And for a hitter, sometimes a victory is just fouling off one of his pitches.
01:25:48Next offering way off the plate.
01:25:51Unless he beats himself, somehow can't find it, doesn't have the control command that day,
01:25:57he can pretty much forget about it.
01:25:59Next offering is down low.
01:26:01And that's ball three.
01:26:11And the right-hander deals.
01:26:14And the right-hander deals.
01:26:173-1 and he couldn't come up with it.
01:26:20Second walk of the game for him and he's been really patient at the play.
01:26:24A game plan that he's sticking to.
01:26:26He's just not going outside of what he's looking for out there.
01:26:29So a man aboard.
01:26:31And now the designated hitter for the Reds, Joey Votto.
01:26:35Back, back to the river, Dad.
01:26:42That one pushed foul.
01:26:45As a hitter, there's even more pressure to take advantage of any mistake, right?
01:26:50Yeah, and you're hoping that somehow, some way, whether it's a hit by pitch, a walk,
01:26:55something bad happens because outside of that, stuff is just too good to fail.
01:27:01Nobody out. Runner at first.
01:27:09The next offering misses.
01:27:11Now one and two.
01:27:13And he's got deception in his delivery.
01:27:15And it's not that he's trying to deceive the hitters.
01:27:18He just has this natural flow that makes it hard for hitters to pick the ball up.
01:27:22It gets on them a little bit quicker than they anticipate,
01:27:25even though they know what the velocity numbers are.
01:27:28And now it's even up.
01:27:36Righty delivers.
01:27:38And that just misses.
01:27:52The pitch.
01:27:54Fouled off again.
01:27:56And it remains three and two.
01:28:07Next pitch has popped up.
01:28:09Lloyd gets under it.
01:28:12And there's one away.
01:28:15It's the best.
01:28:17The left fielder.
01:28:19George.
01:28:21And ready to hit now for Cincinnati.
01:28:23George.
01:28:36First pitch doesn't find the zone.
01:28:39Right-hander kicks, deals.
01:28:41Out in front with the swing.
01:28:43And that is strike one.
01:28:51Here's a one-one.
01:28:53And now just two outs away.
01:28:55That's a good miss off the inside part of the plate.
01:28:58You'd better be able to see it.
01:29:00It's a one-one.
01:29:02And now just two outs away.
01:29:04That's a good miss off the inside part of the plate.
01:29:07You'd much rather miss there than out over the plate
01:29:10where this guy could do some real damage.
01:29:15Swing and a miss.
01:29:17And now two and two.
01:29:22At the belt and fires.
01:29:38And ball four to a board.
01:29:42Almost a coin flip for the umpire in that call.
01:29:44But most umpires just don't want to give pitchers a break up in the zone like that.
01:29:48He's two outs away.
01:29:50Next for Cincinnati.
01:29:52Pete Rose.
01:30:03In there for strike one.
01:30:06There was a high-velocity fastball in the zone.
01:30:09I think a little frustration from walking the previous hitter.
01:30:12He's got good stuff.
01:30:14Pitch inside the zone and trust it.
01:30:16One out.
01:30:18Runners at first and second.
01:30:25In the dirt.
01:30:27To third. Tag. Got him.
01:30:31Well, you want to see guys aggressive out there on the base paths.
01:30:34But you also want to see them smart as well in making their decisions.
01:30:38And right there, you couldn't really tell how far away that ball was.
01:30:41So if that's the case, you've got to shut it down.
01:30:44He gets caught stealing there.
01:30:46Takes himself out of scoring position.
01:30:48That's the third ball game.
01:30:55After four wins in a row, you start to think a little bit that you're on a roll.
01:30:59And that's the momentum that just takes on a life of its own.
01:31:02Guys start hitting up and down the lineup.
01:31:05Never know who's going to come up with the big hit.
01:31:07Who's going to come out of the bullpen and get the big outs.
01:31:09But it's a good feeling, and you want to extend it.
01:31:118-2 the final here for Chris Singleton and our entire crew here at MLB The Show.
01:31:17Thanks for stopping by.
01:31:19I'm John Chambi. Talk to you soon.
01:31:32♪♪
01:31:59Fans, our final line score.
01:32:01First, for the victorious team.
