00:00:00We welcome you to Los Angeles Major League Baseball on tap.
00:00:14It's the New York Mets taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers alongside Chris Singleton.
00:00:19I'm John Shelby singing a guy who could change this game with one swing of the bat Duke Snyder.
00:00:25He of course leads their team at home runs.
00:00:27Yeah Boogie's been such a force at the plate and it seems like every time he connects the ball is traveling out of the ballpark.
00:00:34So when you have such a threat like that other guys in the lineup should get good pitches to hit because they're trying to get
00:00:39those outs instead of having to face him in a big situation.
00:00:48Just about set to go down Clayton Kershaw getting the start.
00:00:52Chris he is a fun one to watch do his thing out there.
00:00:56Well he comes in carrying a career ERA under three.
00:00:59He's been fantastic ever since he broke into the big leagues.
00:01:03Can't wait to watch him pitch today.
00:01:05OK.
00:01:05All set to go.
00:01:07Reyes.
00:01:09The why to kick the pitch.
00:01:13Fastball in for a strike and we are underway.
00:01:20First pitch 7 11.
00:01:26Next offering way off the play.
00:01:33Kershaw fires.
00:01:36Comes up empty that strike two.
00:01:38I think he was sitting off speed there.
00:01:41The wind to the pitch.
00:01:44Breaking ball inside.
00:01:46It's 2 and 2.
00:01:53The big lefty turns kicks deals.
00:01:56This one in the air center field.
00:02:00Snyder makes the grab and there's one away.
00:02:07Let's take a peek at the Mets lineup here.
00:02:10Chris this is a lineup offensively that could be really good for years to come.
00:02:14Well in this day and age if you can't slog and get on base that OPS has to be at a certain level.
00:02:20If you're going to produce runs give your pitchers an opportunity as they're facing tough offenses as well.
00:02:25The picture of a poor black like the hood is cooler baby mama's job is this and the lax wives and now Keith Hernandez good contact guy good defender.
00:02:41First pitch and that's in for a strike.
00:02:56Out to center Snyder moving under it puts the squeeze on that one two up two down batting third the catcher Mike now the catcher up to hit Mike Piazza he might just be the best hitting catcher in the game today.
00:03:19Well Boog he's so valuable does a good job behind the plate but offensively he's a middle of the order type of bad especially when you talk about catchers.
00:03:28Well get a pause on that thought as that'll do it for the inning we're midway in inning number one the Dodgers coming up and we are scoreless.
00:03:42We go to the bottom of the first and it's in for the Mets.
00:03:46We go to the bottom of the first and on the hill in this one number 15 and Chris he's hoping for some better fortune moving forward.
00:03:54Well I'm looking to see if he can increase the amount of swings and misses and perhaps get more strikeouts because hitters are batting over 300 against him and that means guys are getting the barrel to the ball exit velocity has got to be pretty good when you have that kind of batting average so he's going to have to find a way to do something different in this one.
00:04:13Back here in L.A. and stepping in is the speedy Jackie Robinson first offering Mrs. the more.
00:04:28And the right hander deals.
00:04:43And there's a rocket into the outfield around first and hustling for second and it bangs up against the wall and that's a leadoff double nice double right there loud contact coming off the bat didn't get enough air under drive it out of here but you'll take that swing and that result every time.
00:05:13And at the plate for the Dodgers Zach we batting second the left fielder.
00:05:20In their first strike one.
00:05:33Moved to second dives back out.
00:05:43And that's a leadoff double.
00:05:54The whine of the pitch.
00:05:57Bonds attempt but that goes foul.
00:06:08Next one misses it's a ball and two strikes.
00:06:13Just missed really good take especially with two strikes.
00:06:24The wind in the pitch.
00:06:25Out of the pitch.
00:06:43Fouled off again.
00:06:45And it remains 3 and 2.
00:06:533 and 2 now.
00:06:55That one lifted to left, Kingman settles under it, makes the grab for the second
00:07:01out.
00:07:06Time to check out the Dodgers lineup. It features one of the sport's true
00:07:11superstars, Jackie Robinson. Now this is a player that's you know hit over 300 for
00:07:17his career in terms of batting average and being able to do that that is
00:07:22extremely good back-to-ball skills that he's had for a long time. He's just got a
00:07:27real consistent approach, uses all fields, and he's got a game plan when he comes
00:07:31to the plate. So let's just keep our eyes on him. I think it's pretty hard to take
00:07:35your eyes off of him. Duke Snyder stands in now and lets that one go for a strike.
00:07:45And here it comes. There's a strike. Well he's gotten ahead with two pitches down
00:07:54in the zone. He has plenty of options right here. He can go up, he can go away,
00:07:57he can add velocity, he can subtract. Two outs. That's inside.
00:08:08Here's a 1-2. Off the outside edge and now the count is 2-2.
00:08:39Swings through that one. It's a strikeout. And good work there as he gets a 1-2-3.
00:08:45On to the second now from Dodger Stadium. No score. Back here at Chavez
00:08:53Ravine. New inning getting started. Stepping in Darryl Strawberry.
00:08:59Darryl Strawberry. The pitch. There's the strike.
00:09:14Sharp grounder. That's through for a base hit. Well a swing like that can help you
00:09:24come out of this struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ballgame, but all
00:09:29he's trying to do at this point is help his team win. And next for the Mets,
00:09:33Rusty Staub.
00:09:42That one's in there 0-1.
00:09:51No score here in the second.
00:10:00Next pitch is outside. Our umpire behind the plate, Jerry Hillsdale. High praise
00:10:08for Jerry when we talk to people around the game. Yeah, no doubt about it, Boog.
00:10:11He's very straightforward, very consistent back there, so most of the
00:10:16time you're not even gonna think about him. That's a good thing. Move over to first,
00:10:20try to keep him close. What about some no-nos? Like you can't call the umpire
00:10:25Blue the way you do in Little League or high school, right? Yeah, even in the
00:10:30minor leagues, you'll learn quickly. You call the umpire Blue. You better learn
00:10:34his name, and that's just part of being a professional player and even a major
00:10:38league player.
00:10:40Kershaw, the 2-1. Good eye right there. Chris, with that distraction and the
00:10:59speedy guy at first, he's in a favorable hitters count. Well, if nothing else, I
00:11:04mean, this is a great spot for a hitter to be in.
00:11:11And now the lefty. That one ripped, and that's just fouled. With two strikes, may
00:11:19see some movement over there at first base, try to stay out of a double play
00:11:23here.
00:11:29The pitch, and ball four to a board.
00:11:34Howard Johnson up now for the Mets. Good defender. He's been inconsistent
00:11:44offensively. To the left side, but it is well fouled.
00:12:04The next pitch misses, and that's ball one. You know, Boog, if you're that
00:12:18baserunner at second base, you want to be quiet out there. Not bouncing around, not
00:12:23distracting your teammate, the hitter. Make sure that he can clearly focus on
00:12:27that pitcher and that release point. Sharp grounder, that's through for a base
00:12:32hit. Strawberry coming home. Play at the plate, not in time. He's safe, and it's
00:12:391-0. That's back-to-back singles for him. I know that was a ground ball, but it was
00:12:45absolutely hammered through the infield. That's not one you're excited to get in
00:12:49front of if you're an infielder. You know they used to say, charge it, crazy. So up
00:12:55next, Edgardo Alfonso.
00:13:03And that's in there for strike one.
00:13:15No outs. Runners at first and second.
00:13:19In the air, left field. Wheat in position. Squeezes it, and there's one down.
00:13:42And stepping in for New York, David, a guy who makes an impact not just at the
00:13:47plate, but also in the field.
00:13:59Hitter's got some good opposite field power. What I like about something being
00:14:04hit to the right side into the outfield is that the base runner at second has a
00:14:08very good read and can determine whether or not he can score on that base hit.
00:14:17Yeah, the lefty with the 0-1. Lifted in the air, right center field. Green. Has
00:14:24this one sized up. Makes the grab. Two down.
00:14:32Batting none. The left fielder, Dave Kingman. So first and second with two outs. Dave
00:14:39Kingman now at the plate. It's all RBI spot, but Chris, this is a guy that is not
00:14:45really swinging the bat all that well here. In this situation, you have a real
00:14:49good opportunity to get swings and misses and record a strikeout. I think
00:14:52you attack him in this spot. First pitch, and that's in for a strike. I mean, that's
00:14:57perfect location right on the black. I mean, over and over again, this guy
00:15:02demonstrates the ability to hit those spots. They're so tough to do anything
00:15:06with as a hitter. The next offering misses. Ball one. First and second, two down.
00:15:25Starting to get some pretty good timing on that breaking ball, but he's gonna
00:15:29have to stay ready for a fastball. Don't want to watch one go right by you.
00:15:37The one-two. Yeah, the one-two misses to even the count.
00:15:53And now it's filled up.
00:16:06And a payoff pitch. Slow roller to third, and he grabs it in foul ground.
00:16:21Two outs, couple of base runners at first and second.
00:16:24Well-struck left field. That's back. Didn't quite have enough, but the RBI
00:16:41single pushes across a run, and a home team down a run.
00:16:55Back here at Dodger Stadium, and now Sean Green.
00:16:59Leading up for the Dodgers, the right fielder, Sean Green.
00:17:04The right hander back to work. Ball one, no strikes.
00:17:09And that one missing low.
00:17:23Fouled off foul.
00:17:38The pitch.
00:17:42He swings and fouls one off.
00:17:54Next offering misses. Full count now.
00:18:00And the pitch.
00:18:03Up the middle.
00:18:06Fires over to Hernandez. Lead-off man retired here in the second.
00:18:18Number 25 steps to the plate for the Dodgers.
00:18:22And the first pitch misses for ball one.
00:18:26And the first pitch misses for ball one.
00:18:47Late with the swing there.
00:18:51Just threw that fastball by him, elevated.
00:18:54And if you're not looking up in that location, very difficult to catch up to,
00:18:58especially with that velocity.
00:19:11Next offering is in for a strike.
00:19:21And now two and two.
00:19:27And the two-two.
00:19:30Right through there, got him. Now two out.
00:19:33Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter,
00:19:36and I'm sure that's going to sit on him for a little while.
00:19:39You want to be ready to hit the fastball. Sometimes you can overthink things,
00:19:42and I think that was the case right there.
00:19:50Two out, space is empty. Gil Hodgins steps to the plate for the Dodgers.
00:19:57This one chopped on the ground, but foul.
00:20:15Comes up empty on the swing, 0 and 2 now.
00:20:18Cold night like tonight, last thing you want to do as a hitter
00:20:21is get jammed or even off the end.
00:20:24Trying to find that sweet spot on the bat. Tell you what,
00:20:27you're going to be trying to catch things out front, so off-speed pitches may...
00:20:30And he got him. Strike three, and that'll retire the side.
00:20:33Dodgers down in order.
00:20:36Still behind by a count of one to nothing.
00:20:49All set for the start of the inning.
00:20:52Here's the shortstop at the plate.
00:20:55Jose Reyes.
00:20:58It's good speed at the top of the order here. You want to get it on,
00:21:01see if you can get a stolen base, maybe get around the bases
00:21:04and pick up a run.
00:21:07And a good fastball to start him off at strike one.
00:21:19And downstairs.
00:21:34Kicks and fires.
00:21:37And misses inside.
00:21:49And now it's even up.
00:21:52One way to make a guy real uncomfortable at the plate is
00:21:55pound him inside with good velocity.
00:21:58They're doing that right here.
00:22:05Here comes a pinch.
00:22:08Swing and a slow roller.
00:22:11He is safe.
00:22:14And he beats the throw by a whisker.
00:22:17That was a healthy cut, but the same can't be said for the contact.
00:22:20He got just enough of the ball to put it in play
00:22:23and that's all he needed. Tough play for the defense
00:22:26on what was kind of a swinging punt.
00:22:35So up next for New York, Keith Hernandez.
00:22:38Kind of a throwback. No batting gloves.
00:22:42First pitch doesn't find the zone.
00:22:45Good speed on the base pass.
00:22:48He handles the bat very well.
00:22:51I wouldn't be surprised if the skipper puts on some type of
00:22:54hit and run or run and hit.
00:23:04The pitch.
00:23:07And that one almost got him.
00:23:10Straighten him up a little bit.
00:23:14Runner at first with no outs here.
00:23:26Next offering upstairs.
00:23:41Left-handed hitter waits.
00:23:44And that's him for a strike.
00:24:023-2 now.
00:24:11Kershaw checks on the runner and he's backstanding.
00:24:273-2 now.
00:24:30In the air on the infield.
00:24:33No trouble here. Puts it away for the out.
00:24:36One down.
00:24:41Now that catcher, Mike Piazza.
00:24:47Here's the catcher for the Mets, Mike Piazza.
00:24:50He's 0-1.
00:24:53This guy makes great contact.
00:24:56One of the best in the game at putting bat on ball.
00:24:59He's got such quick hands and he's gaining pitch recognition.
00:25:02That keeps him square to the plate and there's a good chance
00:25:05that his bat stays in the zone a long time
00:25:08First offering and it just misses.
00:25:18And the pitch. Runner takes off.
00:25:21Pitch misses. Throw and they got him.
00:25:24That goes to show you stealing a base is a tough thing to do
00:25:27and far from a sure thing, even with big time speed.
00:25:30It's not easy to catch him, but that was a great catch and throw.
00:25:33Quick, not rushed, and accurate.
00:25:392-0.
00:25:43And that's down and away.
00:25:46Backdoor breaking ball just missed right there
00:25:49and boy, umpire didn't give him the call.
00:25:52I bet you if he throws it again, hitter knows he's going to have to swing it.
00:25:55Let's see if he gives him anything to hit here.
00:25:59And a pop-up right side.
00:26:02Foul territory.
00:26:06Makes the catch and that'll do it.
00:26:22Set for the bottom of the third. Here's the rookie third baseman.
00:26:25Number 10.
00:26:28Singing he can't ask for anything more. This guy checks all the boxes offensively.
00:26:31He's the ultimate professional and it doesn't just start
00:26:34at game time, it starts in the afternoon the way he prepares
00:26:37and gets ready for the ball game. I tell you what,
00:26:40his teammates feed off of the leadership that he shows
00:26:43on and off the field.
00:26:46Slapped foul.
00:26:53And a pitch.
00:26:56That one missing inside.
00:27:05This one popped up.
00:27:08Foul ground, first base side.
00:27:11Hernandez racing over to make the catch.
00:27:14Bill, that was a pitch you got to crush.
00:27:17Unbelievable that he missed it right there and I'm telling you,
00:27:20he is going to be frustrated with himself until this next at bat.
00:27:23Next up, the Dodgers catcher, number 17.
00:27:27Ripped on the ground a second.
00:27:30Fires over to Hernandez.
00:27:33And two straight set down to begin the bottom of the third.
00:27:36Batting nuts.
00:27:39Nuts shortstop, number 30.
00:27:42And up next for Los Angeles, number 21,
00:27:45number 22, number 33,
00:27:48number 34, number 35,
00:27:51number 36, number 37,
00:27:55and up next for Los Angeles, number 30.
00:27:58Maybe not an elite level switch hitter, but still a guy
00:28:01with some contact and just success as a hitter
00:28:04from both sides of the plate.
00:28:07First offering misses the mark.
00:28:10Well, he doesn't get too big with the swing. He knows how to hit behind runners
00:28:13and those are guys that can just smell that RBI.
00:28:16So when you're talking about a consistent player like this
00:28:19that can give you... Ah, the throw in time to get him
00:28:22and that does it for the inning. Dodgers go down quietly.
00:28:25They still trail 1-0.
00:28:36Welcome back as we go to the top of the fourth.
00:28:39Here's the center fielder, Darryl Strawberry.
00:28:42The center fielder, Darryl Strawberry.
00:28:45The pitch.
00:28:490-1.
00:28:57The 0-1.
00:29:00Good eye right there.
00:29:10And now 2-1.
00:29:18The why to kick the pitch.
00:29:35And it's ball 4. He missed down low.
00:29:38And he reluctantly takes his walk.
00:29:43And next for the Mets, Rusty Staub.
00:29:47Rusty Staub.
00:30:01And the first pitch misses for ball 1.
00:30:17And there's the strike.
00:30:25And there's the strike.
00:30:28That fastball, even though it's up, that's the velocity you want to go after.
00:30:31Low 90s, a lot better than trying to hit the high 90s.
00:30:37Kershaw checks on the runner. Back in there standing.
00:30:47At the belt and fires.
00:30:50Just missed.
00:30:58Nobody out. Runner at first.
00:31:09Here goes the runner.
00:31:12That one fouled off 2-2.
00:31:16That one fouled off 2-2.
00:31:30Kicks and deals. Got him.
00:31:33And one gone.
00:31:40Howard Johnson up now for the Mets.
00:31:43He drove in a run his first time through.
00:31:54Here's the pitch. Runner on the goal.
00:31:57Ball outside. Throw to second and he's out.
00:32:00Just a mechanically sound throw right there.
00:32:03Great footwork, good transfer, quick release.
00:32:06All those things that you need to do. You don't have to have the highest velocity.
00:32:09But if you can throw it on the money, you can throw out some fast runners.
00:32:13Feel the rhythm on the road.
00:32:16Feel the rhythm. I can feel the rhythm on the road.
00:32:22Next pitch is inside. Two balls, no strikes.
00:32:28And he deals.
00:32:31That's ball three.
00:32:34Count. 3-0.
00:32:43That just missed.
00:32:46He walked him on four pitches.
00:32:49One of the things about that two-out walk, the base runner over at first base
00:32:52is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead.
00:32:55So a ball down the line or into the gap will produce
00:32:58a two-out RBI and those are the best.
00:33:01That is if you are the offensive side of it.
00:33:09Alfonso batting for the second time
00:33:12and that's strike one.
00:33:26The pitch. Rutter takes off.
00:33:29Pitch in for a strike. Safe at second
00:33:32and that was not close.
00:33:35Well, it really doesn't matter what the situation is.
00:33:38When a guy like this gets on first, you know he's going to steal second
00:33:41at some point during the at-bat.
00:33:44Nice job to get into scoring position. The defense probably knew it was coming
00:33:47but they just couldn't do anything to stop it.
00:33:55Oh, and now a wild pitch.
00:33:58Nice job behind the plate there.
00:34:02Next pitch is outside.
00:34:05Two walks in the inning already
00:34:08and he just doesn't seem comfortable out there.
00:34:11Like he can find the right mechanics and then repeat them.
00:34:19Swing and a high fly ball to left.
00:34:22Weed settles under this one.
00:34:25He's got it and that will end the inning.
00:34:28He's got it and that will end the inning.
00:34:31Mets lead one, but they hold a one-nothing lead.
00:34:43Back here at the ballpark, ready to go, bottom four.
00:34:46Here's the second baseman, Jackie Robinson.
00:34:49The second baseman, Jackie Robinson.
00:34:52And the pitch.
00:34:55You know, you hear about a lot of guys who are two or three
00:34:58sports stars in college. Jackie Robinson,
00:35:01a four sports star. He was a division one standout
00:35:04in baseball, basketball, football, and track.
00:35:07And a foul ball.
00:35:15Right hander kicks, deals.
00:35:18So, a foul ball makes it one and two.
00:35:26And the right hander deals.
00:35:29And a foul ball, he stays alive.
00:35:40The wind of the pitch.
00:35:43Come backer to the mound.
00:35:46Fires over to Hernandez.
00:35:49Leadoff hitter retired in the fourth.
00:35:52Now batter.
00:35:55The left fielder, Zach Wheat.
00:35:58And the batter now, Zach Wheat.
00:36:01This guy is one of the best athletes in the sport.
00:36:08And I think we can all be thankful
00:36:11that Jackie chose to pursue baseball.
00:36:14As great a football or basketball player as he might have been,
00:36:17it couldn't have matched his achievements on the diamond.
00:36:22Left hand batter waits.
00:36:25And that gets the inside corner for a strike.
00:36:28Still fun to imagine what Jackie could have done as a pro football player.
00:36:31He led the nation in punt return yardage
00:36:34two years in a row in college at UCLA.
00:36:37So, we know he was explosive.
00:36:40Righty delivers.
00:36:43Line drive, base hit down the line.
00:36:47Well, his hot hitting continues.
00:36:50He's been getting great results lately.
00:36:53I don't know how he's able to shoot that pitch the other way
00:36:56and still put something on it.
00:36:59That pitch was inside and he let it get really deep.
00:37:02So, pretty incredible hands to fight it off and still get good wood on it.
00:37:05And now they've got some speed on first.
00:37:08So, we'll see if they try to get him into motion.
00:37:11Snyder stands in here, takes ball one low.
00:37:17Pick off throw.
00:37:20Wee, back on a dive.
00:37:31And a 1-0.
00:37:34Top of the zone for a called strike.
00:37:37Good looking fastball right there.
00:37:40Surprised he didn't take a rip with that.
00:37:43I think he got locked up a little bit.
00:37:46The pitch.
00:37:49Just missed.
00:37:52That's where you want it. It's a good miss.
00:38:02And a pitch.
00:38:05And there's a ball.
00:38:08Here's an opportunity to do some damage and perhaps unlock this offense.
00:38:113-1 count. Be ready to turn on a fastball.
00:38:19Swing and a miss and it's a full count now.
00:38:22One thing on his mind right there with that swing. He's trying to go deep.
00:38:35The 3-2 is off the outside edge and that is ball four.
00:38:39His ability to draw walks has been something that's been part of his career since day one.
00:38:45Now it's the Dodger cleanup hitter, Sean Green.
00:38:48This guy has turned into a beast.
00:38:58And fouled off.
00:39:01He's looking for a ground ball to get a double play and out of this jam.
00:39:09Two on one out.
00:39:12Swing and a miss.
00:39:15And it's 0-2.
00:39:18He's trying to stay away from this lefty knowing that a lot of left handers like the ball down and in.
00:39:32In the dirt. Blocked.
00:39:36Well classic pitch sequencing there to change eye levels for the punch out.
00:39:39That fastball on the pitch before was off. It was very competitive.
00:39:42And that gets you thinking that he might try to climb the ladder.
00:39:45But then the curve ball out of that same tunnel just falls off the table and you can't make contact.
00:39:51So first and second with two outs.
00:39:54Now it's the DH, number 25.
00:39:58You'll want.
00:40:01To the air right field.
00:40:04And it's a foul ball.
00:40:07Well he gave up on that pitch early and it ended up staying in the zone.
00:40:10I'm sure he's kicking himself and would have been able to get a double play.
00:40:13And he's got a good pitch.
00:40:16And he's got a good pitch.
00:40:19And he's got a good pitch.
00:40:22And he's got a good pitch.
00:40:25I'm sure he's kicking himself and would like that pitch again.
00:40:28Two on, two outs.
00:40:31Swing and a miss. And that is that.
00:40:38A lot of adrenaline we can see it right there.
00:40:41And sometimes you just gotta let it out.
00:40:44That's an outstanding job of taking that, executing, and getting out of a tough inning.
00:40:56Ready now for the fifth inning.
00:40:59Here's a speed threat. David Wright.
00:41:04The wind and the pitch.
00:41:07And that one just misses.
00:41:10A ball and no strikes.
00:41:13And now the lefty.
00:41:16That one the other way.
00:41:19And a base hit.
00:41:22With a lead off dot.
00:41:29Now the left fielder, Dave Kingman.
00:41:41And first offering is fouled off.
00:41:53Here comes the pitch.
00:42:12That one outside.
00:42:15And it's two on one.
00:42:18Is there a little wrinkle to that? I think there was.
00:42:22A little slider action.
00:42:29Little bouncer out in front of the plate.
00:42:32Throw to first is in time.
00:42:35One away here in the fifth.
00:42:39Now batting, the shortstop.
00:42:42Jose Reyes.
00:42:48Jose Reyes up now for the Mets.
00:43:09Out to short.
00:43:12Whips it to first. Two away.
00:43:16He's doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air.
00:43:19Let's the defense work behind him with another ground ball.
00:43:22Good execution.
00:43:28And stepping in for New York, Keith Hernandez.
00:43:31Trying to keep that hitting streak alive.
00:43:34Ten game hitting streak for the young man.
00:43:39First pitch doesn't find the zone.
00:43:52And here comes.
00:43:55That's down and in.
00:43:58He's been raking in recent games and a big reason why.
00:44:01Getting ahead in counts.
00:44:04He's been able to do that consistently.
00:44:07And you see the results.
00:44:13Next pitch misses.
00:44:163-0.
00:44:19Appears they're working around him with the base open.
00:44:22Well you know these 2-0 counts, they're just not what they used to be.
00:44:25And we sound like old guys when I say that.
00:44:28But ultimately this is a strategic game.
00:44:31And you expect to see this type of approach by the pitcher in this situation.
00:44:34Fly ball down the line.
00:44:37Wheat makes the catch and that'll do it.
00:44:40Home half of the 5th coming up.
00:44:42It's the Mets 1 and the Dodgers nothing.
00:44:48Back here in L.A. we head to the bottom of the 5th.
00:44:51And here's the first baseman, Gil Hodges.
00:44:54Well these fans definitely want to get involved in the game.
00:44:59All it's going to take is to get the lead off man or even a base runner on.
00:45:03The right hander back to work.
00:45:06And that's outside.
00:45:16The 1-0.
00:45:19Way high.
00:45:25The wind to kick the 2-0.
00:45:28Swang and a high fly ball in the air left field.
00:45:31That one back.
00:45:34It's gone over the left field wall.
00:45:37He sends it out of here.
00:45:40It's his 8th home run of the year and we're all square.
00:45:43It's tied at 1.
00:45:47That one was a hanger.
00:45:50And pitchers typically don't get away with making a mistake like that.
00:45:53And right there, he made him pay.
00:46:00Here's the 3rd baseman, number 10.
00:46:03He's got it.
00:46:06He's got it.
00:46:09He's got it.
00:46:12He's got it.
00:46:16Now batting, number 10.
00:46:19In there for strike one.
00:46:21Always exciting to see a lead off home run in an inning.
00:46:24Kind of gets the offense fired up and you start to expect a big inning.
00:46:35Next offering is down low.
00:46:41Righty to the plate.
00:46:45He's got it.
00:46:52Stays alive.
00:47:08Well, you can't really adjust your game plan for that last pitch.
00:47:11Guy hasn't thrown it very much.
00:47:14He's throwing up there most of the time.
00:47:17Got him swinging.
00:47:20And that's the first out in the bottom of the fifth.
00:47:23Just beautiful placement of the splitter right there.
00:47:26Exactly where you want it with two strikes to get that swing and miss.
00:47:29He's worked very hard to be able to command that pitch.
00:47:32It's a tough pitch to get a grip on, but he's one of the best at throwing it where he wants to.
00:47:36Number 17 steps to the plate for the Dodgers.
00:47:47First pitch, just misses.
00:48:00Kicks and fires.
00:48:04Hit in the air, right field.
00:48:07Stobbed under it.
00:48:10Two away down.
00:48:13Maybe caught that one off the end just a little bit.
00:48:16Couldn't quite barrel it up enough to really drive it.
00:48:22Two outs, base is empty.
00:48:25Number 30 getting ready to hit.
00:48:34That one's in there, 0-1.
00:48:37In an 0-0 count, not every strike is a good strike for a hitter.
00:48:40I like the plate discipline there.
00:48:43Check swing, went around, and the count is 0-2.
00:48:54That one out to right, stopped.
00:48:57Ranging back, pulls it in on the run.
00:49:00And that'll do it. Dodgers tie it up with a solo homer.
00:49:03All even now at 1-1.
00:49:15Top of the sixth inning, here's the power hitting catcher, Mike Piazza.
00:49:18Singing, he's a guy that covers both sides of the plate about as well as anyone in the sport.
00:49:24How difficult is that to do?
00:49:27Just look at the back of my bubble gum card, you'll see how hard it is.
00:49:30These guys are great, man.
00:49:32They have the ability to look out there, but also to be able to turn on the inside pitch.
00:49:37Those that can really sharpen things on the outer half, those are the ones that become elite.
00:49:45Check swing, but he went too far.
00:49:48And a count 1-1.
00:49:57And another ball.
00:49:59So important for him to control the heart rate right now.
00:50:02He's got to go through the heart of this lineup.
00:50:11A 2-1.
00:50:28That clips a corner.
00:50:30This game has been so tight, feels like the next team to score will win it.
00:50:44And a 3-2.
00:50:48Fouled off again, and it remains 3-2.
00:50:583-2.
00:51:02It's a lead-off walk, and that's the go-ahead run.
00:51:05Well, he opted to go with the off-speed stuff on that 3-2 with the bases empty.
00:51:10Close pitch, but now he's got to work out of the stretch.
00:51:13Go-ahead run on base.
00:51:15Now at the plate, Darryl Strawberry.
00:51:27First offering, misses the mark.
00:51:29Well, a mistake right here could untie this ball game.
00:51:32If you're the pitcher out there, you just want to be a little more cautious.
00:51:43The pitch.
00:51:45Two balls, no strikes the count.
00:51:58And a pitch.
00:52:00First offering.
00:52:01Runner goes.
00:52:03Swing and a miss.
00:52:04Throw to second.
00:52:06Out!
00:52:09And a pitch.
00:52:10First offering.
00:52:11Runner goes.
00:52:12Swing and a miss.
00:52:14Throw to second.
00:52:15Out!
00:52:39Blind into right.
00:52:42Green makes the grab.
00:52:44Out.
00:52:45Number two.
00:52:47Up next for the Mets, the right fielder, Rusty.
00:52:51So up next for New York, Rusty Staub.
00:53:05On the ground to third.
00:53:07On the ground to third.
00:53:10Throws across the diamond.
00:53:12And the Mets go one, two, three.
00:53:14Top of the order, two up in the home half of the sixth.
00:53:17All tied, 1-1.
00:53:25Back here at Dodger Stadium.
00:53:27John Shomby with Chris Singleton in the booth.
00:53:29And leading off the bottom of the sixth, Jackie Robinson.
00:53:33Jackie Robinson!
00:53:38Go, Jackie!
00:53:46And the pitch.
00:53:49On the ground, right side.
00:53:51That's a base hit.
00:53:53And the leadoff man aboard.
00:53:58Multi-hit game for him now, and with the lack of results he's been having lately,
00:54:02I'm sure he's feeling some relief.
00:54:04Not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way
00:54:07and put the ball in play.
00:54:08That's a team at bat right there.
00:54:10Nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep.
00:54:13No outs.
00:54:14Runner at first.
00:54:15There goes Jackie.
00:54:16Strike in there.
00:54:18Throws.
00:54:19Safe.
00:54:20Piazza too late for that one.
00:54:22That was close.
00:54:24But StatCast shows us why he so often seems to be on the safe side
00:54:28of these steal attempts, Chris.
00:54:30You see that plus speed, and he needed every last bit of it to swipe that back.
00:54:35Such a threat on the bases.
00:54:39Next one misses, and a count even 1-1.
00:54:51Base knock right field.
00:54:56And they get it in quickly.
00:54:57First and third now with nobody out.
00:54:59Well, that's a smart decision to hold up with one out
00:55:02and a heart of the order coming up.
00:55:04You don't want to run into it out at home plate.
00:55:09Duke Snyder, the next to hit.
00:55:11This guy, he's got power.
00:55:13He can untie it with one swing.
00:55:17And that's in there for strike one.
00:55:25No outs.
00:55:26Runners at first and third.
00:55:32The next off day for the offense, but when they look at it,
00:55:36this guy's had his best stuff.
00:55:37He's painting the corners, working on the edges and changing speeds.
00:55:41Just a difficult one.
00:55:42You tip your cap.
00:55:47The pitch.
00:55:50And a count 1-2.
00:55:57That one just misses.
00:55:59Just missed with a good breaking ball in.
00:56:01Looking for that hitter to chase and perhaps get some weak contact
00:56:04or a swing and miss.
00:56:05Good job on both sides.
00:56:09At the belt and fires.
00:56:12And a foul ball.
00:56:13He stays alive.
00:56:14Well, he knows.
00:56:15They don't want to give him anything to hit,
00:56:17but when you've got opportunity to score,
00:56:19you've got to give it to him.
00:56:21Well, he knows.
00:56:22They don't want to give him anything to hit,
00:56:24but when you've got opportunities to drive in runs,
00:56:27you've got to expand the zone.
00:56:28He's capable of going out there and doing damage with it.
00:56:31And he deals.
00:56:35So, here we go.
00:56:36Base runner at first.
00:56:37Could be running on the pitch.
00:56:38He's got good enough speed to steal the bag to get in scoring position,
00:56:41even if it's a swing and miss at the plate.
00:56:45Check on the runner.
00:56:46And he's back safely.
00:56:49Runners on the corners.
00:56:50No outs.
00:57:09Left-hand hitter waits.
00:57:11Stays alive.
00:57:21Payoff pitch.
00:57:24Swing and a ball hammered left field.
00:57:27That's back there.
00:57:29Gone!
00:57:33He powers that one out to left.
00:57:35Home run number 15 on the year.
00:57:37It's 4-1.
00:57:39He kept swinging, and it paid off.
00:57:42Well, that was a battle, Boog,
00:57:43and he just kept taking his cuts.
00:57:45Finally squared one up.
00:57:48Always scary for a pitcher when a guy can take a fastball down the middle
00:57:53and hit it to the opposite field.
00:57:55No holes in a swing like that.
00:57:57And that time, that ball was hit hard.
00:58:03Cuts.
00:58:04scary for a pitcher when a guy can take a fastball down the middle and hit it to
00:58:08the opposite field. No holes in a swing like that and that time that ball was
00:58:13hit hard.
00:58:23On the mound now, Al Leiter. It's his job to keep his team in the game.
00:58:28At this point of the ballgame we're talking about middle innings and he
00:58:32needed a little length out of this arm coming out of the bullpen. We'll see just
00:58:36how many outs he's able to give his skipper.
00:58:41And the batter now, Sean Green. The right fielder, number 15. In there and it's
00:58:49all-in-one.
00:58:51The pitch.
00:59:02Ball one there.
00:59:14Kicked Sandeels. Now this is in the air down the line.
00:59:21Hauls it in for the out.
00:59:33Next is the Dodger DH, number 25.
00:59:38First pitch and he just misses. Action in the Mets bullpen. Number 32, preparing to
00:59:54come on if needed. Number 43, the right-hander, loosening up as well.
01:00:01Fouled off, he was late. Look out, that ball was smoked. Man, I am so relieved that they
01:00:11have this netting down the lines just ensures safety for the fans. Last thing
01:00:16as a player you want to look up and see a fan get hit. Check swing but he went
01:00:20too far. And a count one and two. Still only one out here in the inning. That one
01:00:30to first. Knocks it down. Tosses to the pitcher covering the bag. Pitcher gets to
01:00:36the bag for the out.
01:00:43And next for LA, Gil Hodgins. He's already homered here in this one. And that one
01:00:56fouled off.
01:01:00Next offering upstairs.
01:01:17Good eye in that spot.
01:01:22Two outs. Two balls, two strikes to count with two outs. The wind of the pitch and
01:01:35a foul ball. He stays alive.
01:01:39The big lefty turns, kicks, deals. Just misses with that one. Good slider down
01:01:52and in can be so hard to get on plane with. You're better off taking that pitch.
01:02:01Fouled off again and it remains three and two.
01:02:10Three-two. Swings and misses and he's down on strikes for the second time
01:02:19today. Big three-run shot for the Dodgers. It's now a 4-1 ballgame.
01:02:32Back here at Chavez Ravine. Top of inning number seven and stepping in is the
01:02:38speedy Howard Johnson. Kershaw back to work. And the first pitch misses for
01:02:46ball one. Well after putting up a nice inning on offense, got some runs across,
01:02:50this is where you look for the starter to go out there, have a shutdown inning.
01:02:54Don't give that other team any hope. You just hope they didn't get through this
01:02:57inning, get the bats back up there while they're hot. Next offering misses and
01:03:03it's 2-0.
01:03:08And that's in for a strike. Big and bad right here. He did the team thing, took
01:03:21until he got a strike. Now he's got to go to work, shorten up that swing a little
01:03:25bit, do whatever it takes to get on base. Next offering is fouled back.
01:03:39That one to first, it's through for a hit. So a man on base to start the inning.
01:03:48Everything came together perfectly for him right there. You put a great swing on
01:03:53that ball, took a barrel right to it, nice extension as well. 105 exit velocity.
01:03:58That tells you everything you need to know about that swing. Now here is a
01:04:03Edgardo Alfonso. Kershaw checks on the runner. Johnson back in standing.
01:04:22First pitch and that's in for a strike.
01:04:34That's in there. This is one of those situations the infielders have to
01:04:49pre-plan and understand that the ball's got to be hit extremely hard right at
01:04:53them if they're gonna have a chance to go for a double play.
01:05:03And a pitch. It's softly on the ground left side.
01:05:12Bare hands it. Tough play. Not in time. He's safe.
01:05:19And here comes the Dodgers manager to the mound. Pitching change coming.
01:05:23Kershaw will depart and the line not closed on him yet as he's responsible
01:05:27for the runners on base. Back with a new pitcher after this.
01:05:33New pitcher coming on, the veteran number 54.
01:05:41And this guy can bring it velocity-wise.
01:05:54Now the third baseman, David Wright. Really good piece of hitting last time
01:05:59going to the opposite field. And the first pitch misses for ball one.
01:06:17And that's outside. Could be some action here on this next pitch. Couple runners
01:06:21on. Probably a challenge pitch coming.
01:06:30Right-handed reliever. Here's a high chopper. Robinson gets it to first.
01:06:36That's the first out, the top of the seventh.
01:06:53And next for the Mets, Dave. Well in their win last game, this guy can
01:06:59up with two home runs. Obviously trying to keep the roll going here in this one.
01:07:08First pitch, not close.
01:07:21And the pitch.
01:07:28Second and third here, one away.
01:07:40Next offering is down low. Now two balls and a strike.
01:07:52Tying run at the plate. Way out front for strike two.
01:08:11And now the count filled up three and two.
01:08:23Back to work. Three-two now. Foul ball there.
01:08:39And the righty deals. And a swing and a miss. And two away now. He came out of his mechanics
01:08:45there. Typically likes to shoot the ball the other way. But that time, he didn't.
01:08:52Little anxious.
01:08:58Jose Reyes up now for the Mets.
01:09:07In there for strike one. Not the easiest thing. When you're talking about a guy that's, you know,
01:09:12perhaps is going to be in the rotation. You know, maybe a long relief guy to not start an inning.
01:09:17To come into an inning with pressure on it and try to get yourself comfortable.
01:09:22The tying run at the plate. Right side. Green under it. Drops into the glove.
01:09:29And that will end the inning. Two left for the Mets. And they trail it 4-1.
01:09:42Set for the last half of the seventh. And here is number 10.
01:09:45The third baseman. A wind in the pitch.
01:09:53And first offering is fouled off.
01:10:02The pitch.
01:10:05Off the mark there. And one and one.
01:10:07On the inside corner for a strike.
01:10:28The wind of the pitch.
01:10:30Stays alive.
01:10:39The pitch.
01:10:43Swing and this one's bounced on the ground. Fires over to Hernandez.
01:10:47And the leadoff hitter sat down to open the seventh.
01:10:52Now Mets. Number 17.
01:11:00And at the plate for the Dodgers. Number 17.
01:11:12Foul ball.
01:11:21And now the 0-1.
01:11:25That catches the corner.
01:11:29Pitch misses inside. Now one and two.
01:11:46And now the lefty.
01:11:49And down on strikes. Now two away.
01:11:52Number 30 will hit next. This is a guy you got to keep an eye on when he digs in.
01:11:58Definitely been known to drop a drag bunt from time to time.
01:12:02And he's pretty good at it, Chris. Yeah, and he creates a sense of urgency for the defense
01:12:07because of the speed, because of the ability to put down that bunt.
01:12:10The lefty, the 1-0.
01:12:14And that one fouled off. Now you see even slower.
01:12:19Now you see even sluggers from time to time try and use the bunt really as a way to beat the shift.
01:12:32So a foul ball makes it one and two.
01:12:41Kicks and fires.
01:12:44Cut on and miss. Struck him out.
01:12:47Three up, three down, inning over.
01:12:49Nothing doing for the Dodgers here as they hold on to a 4-1 lead.
01:13:06Henley Jansen into the game. He has a great slider with tons of movement.
01:13:12Henley Jansen.
01:13:15At the plate, Keith Hernandez.
01:13:18And a little something extra at stake in this at-bat as he's hitless so far
01:13:23with his hitting streak in jeopardy.
01:13:25The Mets in striking distance, but have some work to do.
01:13:28Boog, it starts with the laid-off, man. Need a good at-bat out of him right here.
01:13:34And a pitch. Just missed.
01:13:41The next pitch misses. And that's ball two.
01:14:01Not showing great command so far in this at-bat.
01:14:042-0 count. He's got to execute here or this could get ugly.
01:14:12The next one misses. Three balls, no strikes.
01:14:16Well, it's critical right here that they bear down and turn in some quality at-bats.
01:14:20Try to chip away at that lead because if it gets to the ninth, that closer's coming in.
01:14:33And a four-pitch walk.
01:14:36It's tough after falling behind a hitter, two balls and no strikes,
01:14:39but now at least he gets a fresh start against a new batter,
01:14:42but he needs to get back into the strike zone and start pitching with conviction.
01:14:58Piazza at the plate now. That's ball one.
01:15:01Talk about the right guy at the right spot. They really need a rally,
01:15:04and this guy is someone you can believe in to find a way to get on base.
01:15:09Next pitch is downstairs.
01:15:15Righty delivers. That one at 95 missed up top, and that's ball three.
01:15:33There's a strike.
01:15:58That one ripped right center field.
01:16:01That's bad, and that one's gone.
01:16:25Knew what pitch he wanted to hit, spent on some other pitches in this at-bat,
01:16:29was very patient, and it paid off.
01:16:39Digging in, it's the speedy outfielder Darryl Strawberry.
01:16:42Now that one for two.
01:16:45Darryl Strawberry.
01:16:48Next pitch has popped up.
01:16:50Number 30 under it makes the catch, and there's one gone.
01:16:56Now batting, right fielder, Rusty Stobb.
01:17:02Now it's the right fielder, Rusty Stobb.
01:17:19And that's in there for strike one.
01:17:22Some guys are just more confident.
01:17:23Some guys are just more confident if they can track that first pitch out of the hand of the pitcher.
01:17:27They don't care if they fall behind 0-1.
01:17:39And he's down 0-2 as he swings through it.
01:17:51One down, base is empty.
01:17:53That one missed.
01:18:03Right-hander kicks, deals, and the slider just misses.
01:18:08That's a really good take.
01:18:14Here comes a pitch.
01:18:16In the air, right field, green.
01:18:19Under this one, and there's two away.
01:18:24Now batting, designated hitter, Howard Johnson.
01:18:33So now here's the Mets DH, Howard Johnson, for the fourth time tonight.
01:18:49And first offering is fouled off.
01:18:52Just missed.
01:18:53If he's able to connect on that, look out.
01:19:04Next offering upstairs, trying to keep good speed off the bases.
01:19:15The wide kick to pitch, and it is 2-1.
01:19:22That one hammered center field.
01:19:32That's back there.
01:19:35Pulls it in on the warning track.
01:19:38Mets had two runs on this blast.
01:19:41It's now a 4-3 ball game.
01:19:52Welcome back.
01:19:52Now it's going to be Jackie Robinson leading off for the Dodgers, the second baseman, Jackie
01:20:01Robinson.
01:20:03And the pitch, that's in there.
01:20:07It's 0-1.
01:20:08Activity in the bullpen, Armando Benitez.
01:20:12The rookie right-hander is getting loose.
01:20:15The pitch, and he bunts, but that's a foul ball.
01:20:240-2 now, and ball one.
01:20:30And that one is lifted in the air.
01:20:32Drops in for a hit.
01:20:34Couldn't run it down.
01:20:38Good two-strike hitting right there, Boog.
01:20:40A bit of a lost ball.
01:20:42And it's a foul.
01:20:44It's a foul.
01:20:46And it's a foul.
01:20:48And it's a foul.
01:20:50And it's a foul.
01:20:52And it's a foul.
01:20:54And it's a foul.
01:20:56And it's a foul.
01:20:58Good two-strike hitting right there, Boog.
01:21:00A bit of a lost start for some.
01:21:02So that was nicely done to beat the odds.
01:21:04You know what they say.
01:21:06Couldn't have thrown it out there any better than that.
01:21:08And certainly the case that time.
01:21:10Just flared it back behind the second baseman and dropped it in there.
01:21:12Zach Wheat digs in now.
01:21:14Now move to first.
01:21:16Robinson back in on a dive.
01:21:28That one's in there.
01:21:300-1
01:21:44Left-hand batter waits.
01:21:46And there's something you don't see very much
01:21:48in today's game.
01:21:50The pitch out.
01:21:58And it's a foul.
01:22:04At the belt and fires.
01:22:06Falling behind 2-1.
01:22:08Two balls, one strike.
01:22:26Late that time.
01:22:28And it's strike two.
01:22:300-2
01:22:40Lifted in the air out to left.
01:22:42And there's one down.
01:22:50Now batting, center fielder
01:22:52Duke
01:22:54Snyder
01:23:00Steps to the plate for the Dodgers.
01:23:02He's already homered in this game.
01:23:16In there and it's 0-1.
01:23:24The pitch.
01:23:26There's a strike.
01:23:28Don't play situation here.
01:23:30He's been working up in the zone.
01:23:32Typically you look for guys to get that ground ball.
01:23:34See if he adjusts on this next pitch.
01:23:44And he deals.
01:23:46And now 1-2.
01:23:58And down on strikes he goes.
01:24:00That's out number two.
01:24:06Sean Green
01:24:08steps to the plate for the Dodgers.
01:24:10And what a two-way player.
01:24:12Not just offensively but as good
01:24:14a defensive outfielder as there is in the game.
01:24:20First offering and it just misses.
01:24:28The pitch.
01:24:34Pretty rare location right there.
01:24:36Right down the middle.
01:24:38This guy paints the edges.
01:24:40Not sure if you're going to see that pitch again as a hitter.
01:24:46Left hand hitter waits.
01:24:48In there.
01:24:50And so now 1-2.
01:24:52Love how vocal the umpire is today.
01:24:54No doubt.
01:24:57The hitter's mind, catcher's mind
01:24:59and even the pitcher's mind
01:25:01as to the conviction in the call.
01:25:09Next pitch misses.
01:25:11And it's 2-2.
01:25:27Good eye right there.
01:25:493-2, two out, runner on first.
01:25:51A lot of movement in the infield.
01:25:53Hitter's got to stay focused on the pitch.
01:25:55Pay off pitch.
01:25:57Hard ground ball, base down.
01:26:05Just so sound in his mechanics.
01:26:07Hits against a firm front side
01:26:09and the hands just continue
01:26:11to carry through
01:26:13the middle of the field.
01:26:17First and second, two down.
01:26:19And now here's the Dodgers
01:26:21designated hitter, number 25.
01:26:25Looking for some insurance.
01:26:27Or as our friends
01:26:29down in the south would say,
01:26:31insurance.
01:26:33No matter how you say it,
01:26:35we know what you mean.
01:26:37High in the air, out to right.
01:26:41Stobb makes the catch
01:26:43and that'll do it.
01:26:45Dodgers strand a couple
01:26:47and it remains a 4-3 game.
01:26:55So they turn
01:26:57to their closer,
01:26:59Eric Gagne.
01:27:01He last pitched four days ago
01:27:03so he should feel pretty fresh.
01:27:11Back here in LA
01:27:13we go to the ninth
01:27:15and stepping in for New York,
01:27:17Edgardo Alfonso.
01:27:21And the pitch.
01:27:23There's a strike.
01:27:25You know this guy's great speed is in the back of that pitcher's mind.
01:27:27If he can get on, it's going to give him
01:27:29one more thing he's got to think about.
01:27:43Left field.
01:27:45Wheat has a bead on it.
01:27:49Puts it away for the out.
01:27:51Such a confidence boost
01:27:53for a reliever to come into the ball game
01:27:55and get the first hitter he faces.
01:27:57Just makes everything slow down a little bit
01:27:59and then from there can really settle in.
01:28:03And now David Wright.
01:28:05One for three.
01:28:07If you don't get ahead in the count,
01:28:09you can forget about having any success against him.
01:28:15And first offering is fouled off.
01:28:21One run game here
01:28:23at the top of the ninth.
01:28:39Here's the 0-2.
01:28:43And a foul ball. He stays alive.
01:28:51Next offering upstairs.
01:28:53Pretty standard
01:28:55high 0-2 fastball right there.
01:28:57If you're smart,
01:28:59you'll look for something down in the zone
01:29:01but not too far.
01:29:03You don't want to chase that breaking ball in the dirt.
01:29:05Stays alive.
01:29:17And a swing and a miss.
01:29:19And a swing and a miss.
01:29:21And there's two down.
01:29:23That's a curveball that I'm sure he wants back
01:29:25at the plate. Two strikes,
01:29:27the sort of pitch you're hoping for, a bit of a mistake
01:29:29and I'd say in a very hittable
01:29:31location but clearly the break was
01:29:33enough to get him to swing through it.
01:29:39Pinch hitter coming on, Daniel Murphy.
01:29:41Pinch hitting for the net.
01:29:43Number 28,
01:29:45Daniel
01:29:47Murphy.
01:29:54Pitch misses inside
01:29:56and that's ball one.
01:30:10Good eye right there.
01:30:12Crowd locked in
01:30:14right now. One run game
01:30:16here in the ninth.
01:30:20Swing and a miss.
01:30:22Two and one now.
01:30:24So many hard throwing relievers in the game
01:30:26these days, you would think that guys
01:30:28have made the adjustment but I don't know
01:30:30if you ever get used to it. Just pumping
01:30:32gas. They'll squeeze it for the final
01:30:34out and the Dodgers extend
01:30:36their winning streak to five in a row.
01:30:38I think people might be
01:30:40surprised to see how many pitchers have collected
01:30:42200 saves in their careers.
01:30:44It's not a lot and he's just joined
01:30:46that club. Keeps climbing that leaderboard
01:30:48save after save.
01:30:50For three, our final score.
01:30:52They hang on to win it by a run.
01:30:54For Chris Singleton and our entire
01:30:56outstanding crew here at MLB The Show
01:30:58I'm John Schaumby saying
