00:00Welcome to SPJMR's inaugural conference on technology and societal impact.
00:15This conference will be happening on 21st and 22nd February of 2025 and it is my pleasure
00:21once again to invite you to attend this conference.
00:25Why a conference on technology and societal impact and why SPJMR?
00:30At SPJMR we believe that it is important to advance wise innovation which we define as
00:36doing the right things for the right reasons and doing it the right way.
00:41And we believe this kind of innovation should create net positive societal benefits.
00:46So the TASIC conference, the technology and societal impact conference, attempts to do
00:51just that by bringing together a unique mix of researchers, students and industry leaders
01:00to discuss, debate and come up with an action plan to advance wise innovation.
01:06The conference this year has four distinct components.
01:10The first is a traditional research or academic track where we are inviting scholars to submit
01:17their articles on different dimensions or aspects of technology and societal impact.
01:23The second track is a student track where we are inviting students from around the world
01:28to participate in an ideathon that is focused on a specific part of technology and societal impact.
01:35Specifically we are asking the students to imagine a world of AI being deployed for good
01:42to create a greener Bharat and a greener planet.
01:46The third track that we have is a pretty unique mix of academia and industry.
01:52We call this the research action track.
01:55In this track we are going to be inviting leading scholars and practitioners from around
02:00the world that have led the development of AI in all its facets and that have studied
02:06the impact AI has on society.
02:09And they will then be joined by policy makers and industry practitioners and leaders who
02:14will then debate and discuss and hopefully come up with an action plan on how AI can
02:21be channeled for positive good in the Indian context.
02:25The fourth component of the conference is an award that we call the wise innovation award.
02:31In this particular track what we are looking to do is to recognize exemplary companies
02:37that have innovated for good, that have taken the idea of their products and services and
02:44brought about changes that have produced positive societal impact.
02:48We will also look at the process through which these companies innovate because process sometimes
02:53is just as important as outcomes.
02:56These four tracks I believe make this conference extremely unique.
03:01We hope that this is the first of an annual conference that soon gets established in South
03:06Asia and hopefully around the world as one of the leading conferences that debates, discusses
03:12and advances wise innovation and its positive impact on society.
03:17Thank you and I hope to see you on 21st and 22nd February 2025.
