Transcript
00:00Hi, my name is Sam Quine, East Lancashire Reporter for the Lancashire Post, and here are five things to do this week across East Lancashire.
00:07From the 23rd to the 25th, the Lancashire town of Colne comes alive as venues across the town host some of the world's top rhythm and blues musicians and performers for one of the only festivals of its kind in the UK.
00:20The Great Rhythm and Blues Festival saw over 35,000 people attend in 2022, and this year's headliners include the Matt Schofield Trio, Don Martin and Band, and Kyla Brocks and Friends.
00:36Full festival tickets are £110, while individual day tickets start from just £40.
00:44On Saturday, people can have a great deal of fun at the Amazing Accrington Soapbox Challenge. This year, not only can you join in with the racing, you can watch the amazing creations others have made as they whiz down the course.
00:59Brand new to the race will be a two-level height ramp at the start line, which competitors will need to take on before facing the 170-metre long track.
01:09Last year's event attracted over 15,000 people to the town, which was a huge success with entertainment, local food stores and more.
01:19During the August Bank Holiday weekend, Burnley will be holding the Amazing Burnley Canal Festival.
01:26A free day of celebrations along the canal, you'll find arts and crafts, canal-side walks, performances, food and drink stalls, an artisan market and more.
01:38Live music will be on offer from the Burnley Alliance Silver Band, Ben Farmer, Back of the Bush and more.
01:46All of these land-based activities will be supported by a programme of activities on the water, from canoeing to visiting the Kennet, an interactive floating museum and free boat trips on a canal boat.
02:01An unforgettable adventure this summer will be happening in Blackburn as the enchanting and magical world of Alice in Wonderland and Lego comes to Blackburn Town Centre.
02:14Visitors of all ages are invited to explore a captivating trail featuring life-size Lego models across 17 locations throughout the town.
02:24This event promises to blend creativity, fun and discovery, making it a must-visit during the summer holidays.
02:33And finally, on Bank Holiday Monday, Rosendale will host the World Gravy Wrestling Championships.
02:41Contestants must wrestle in the gravy for two minutes and points are scored for fancy dress, comedic effect and entertainment.
02:50All contestants get sponsorships and really give it their all to raise money for charity.
02:55Food and drink will be served all day and the fire brigade will be there to wash down any wrestlers between bouts.
03:02All in all, it's a great day out.
