00:00I have always been curious about how the mouse wheel controls the page to slide up and down.
00:05Attention! This is a commonly used light-emitting mouse. It mainly has three key components,
00:12an infrared LED that emits light, a lens installed on the LED to collect light,
00:18and on the other side, two optical sensors that detect light, with an encoder mounted in the
00:23middle of the wheel. The encoder has 48 equidistant spokes that rotate as the wheel does.
00:30The appearance is somewhat reminiscent of the spokes of a bicycle wheel.
00:34So how do these three components work together to control the computer page?
00:38The roller carries an encoder, and when it rotates, the rotating spokes intermittently
00:44block the light emitted by the LED, and the light passing through the gaps is received by
00:49an optical sensor, which converts the optical signal into a pulse-wave electrical signal.
00:55When the wheel rotates once, the sensor will receive 48 instances of light,
01:00and generate 48 light pulses. The pulse signal transmitted to the computer processor contains
01:06information including the angle and speed of the roller's rotation. The processor can then
01:12convert the angle and speed into the distance and speed at which the page should slide.
01:17However, there is another problem. The sliding direction of the page cannot yet be determined.
01:24This is why two optical sensors are installed. When the roller rotates, two adjacent optical
01:30sensors will detect the light one after the other. Based on the detected light,
01:35the different directions of the roller's rotation can be determined.
01:39The principle of sliding the mouse wheel up and down corresponding to the page is very simple.
01:44First, convert the mechanical rotation into an electrical pulse signal, and then convert
01:50it into the distance, speed, and direction of the page sliding.
