A woman has been arrested for allegedly assaulting police during a protest at the steps of parliament in Melbourne. More than a hundred people demonstrated against a rally that's demanding an independent inquiry into gender medical treatment for young people.

01:31In a statement, Victoria Police says it's disappointed with the actions of the group
01:36and while it supports peaceful protests, it has zero tolerance for violence.
