00:00Yeah, something to watch on Saturday, the Detroit Lions. John, the biggest reason to
00:04watch tomorrow against Kansas City is fill in the blank. I've got a couple, but start
00:10with one. Don't steal everybody's thunder. I'm not going to steal everyone's thunder.
00:13The one I talked about it last week. I thought it would happen last week, but yet he has
00:18performed so well in training camp that he didn't that that he earned the right not to
00:24perform in a game seems odd to me because he doesn't have a lot of experience. Levi
00:29owns Rike that I, when Dan Campbell said in our interview, there's going to be a couple
00:35of guys up front. Now I don't know who the other guys are. Is he, is, are they going
00:39to possibly put out Marcus Davenport? Are they going to, you know, give him a couple
00:44of in-game reps? He's not old. He's not necessarily young, but he's been banged up throughout
00:49his career. I don't know who else they're talking about, but James Houston. Well, we
00:54saw James Houston, right? But you can see more of, I guess you're right. He's saying
00:56guys who didn't play. Yeah. And so I leave, I owns a Rike because every, almost everyone
01:04that we talked to either answered a question about Levi owns Rike in glowing regards or
01:11brought him up on their own. And Dan Campbell has done it at the monster podium.
01:18Everybody has talked about Levi's Rike. They're building him up. And I almost think I'm concerned
01:23that he's not going to live up to this mythical player that we are building up. Like we're
01:28kind of anticipating that this guy breaks out into a pro bowl season where he's only
01:33had up, you know, less than a hundred snaps throughout the course of his career. Yeah.
01:37I'm excited to see Warren snap, Warren sat play tomorrow for the lions, right? That's
01:41kind of what it feels like, but yeah, we're going to unleash him on the NFL. So I think
01:46we all need to temper our expectations a little bit, but I, that's what I'm going to be watching
01:51for Saturday afternoon. You are going to watch for Levi owns a Rike among other things,
01:55but that is the biggest reason for you. For me, it's Hendon hooker. We were cheated of
02:00seeing him get extended playing time in the first preseason game because of the concussion.
02:05He was back out at practice. The expectation is he will play. And I think he starts. No,
02:09I don't think he starts. I think they, they, they tried out Sudfeld again. I do think they
02:13tried out. Surely not going to be Jake from state farm, right? No, he may play, but I
02:18don't want to see Hendon hooker play the majority of the snaps. So if three quarterbacks
02:22are playing, he should play two of the four quarters, at least. I want to see Hendon hooker
02:27have a chance to develop into the backup because I don't think Sudfeld is capable of being
02:30an NFL backup quarterback for a team that's wanting to win a super bowl.
02:34So let's see what Hendon hooker does. And I know he can extend the play. His mom has
02:38told him work on sliding at the end of those plays. I'm sure Dan, I'm sure Mark Brunel.
02:43I'm sure all the coaches have said, Hey, there is, uh, you know, some, some valor in
02:50sliding as a quarterback. That's first things. First be available. You've really been harping
02:56on that lately. I also want to see progressions down the field going through for the first
03:01read to the second read to the third read, showing a downfield passing game and ability
03:06to show poise and composure in the pocket.
03:08I know he's an athletic quarterback. I need to see him grow into a, a well-rounded quarterback
03:14baby steps, but this is the next big step for Hendon hooker. So I asked the question
03:18about him possibly starting because we know what Nate Sudfeld is. No one wants to see
03:24him in a preseason game, let alone a regular season game. In case something happened to
03:29Jared golf. Like we know what he is. We know what he is at practice. Looks pretty damn
03:34good at practice. What we know what he is at game time. And it's not great. It's not
03:39even good. It's not even marginally good. So let's see Hendon hooker. And I also say
03:43that because Hendon hooker, if you're going to be behind an offensive line, that's not
03:46playing at starters, you're going to have to be a little bit mobile.
03:49Maybe you're going to have to get outside the pocket, which is what we want to see from
03:51Hendon hooker. Sure. And I also want to see the receivers get a chance. Now I'm not sitting
03:58here saying that what we saw from him in terms of a passer gives fountain or DPJ or Tom Kennedy
04:05or insert any receiver fighting for that number four, number five spot, the best chance,
04:11but we know it's not Sudfeld. No. And that's a great point. Hooker also allows you to judge
04:15these receivers that we've been waiting to see someone step up. So owns a Rike Hendon
04:20hooker, Paul Sarah, the one reason to watch the lions this weekend.
04:23Well, I mean, the tenant hooker, okay. To me, I mean, that's just obvious. And I don't
04:28want to see Sudfeld play the first half. I think that's, what's going to happen. I don't
04:32want to see that. I could, it's like, we talked about it on, when you guys were down
04:36in training camp, he practices well, apparently I haven't been down there, but you guys say
04:41he's practicing well, but then when it gets to games, he just, he's, he's awful. Like
04:45it's not even bad. It's awful. Yeah. You can't rely on a guy that's like, he's a great practice
04:51or, but when the game, so I'd rather have it the other way around, I'd rather have him
04:54be like whole hum and practice. And then when the lights come on, he's great.
04:57Well, and so that's a little bit what we saw from hooker at practice. It's kind of
05:02whole home. Then you got out to the game and I'm not sitting here saying that the performance
05:06was great. That's not what I'm talking about, but it was better than we saw in practice
05:10and it gave the offense options. And I think the reason also you'd want to see him play
05:15well is not only as a good backup for golf, but also if he plays well enough, maybe in
05:19this off season, the next off season, you flip them for picks. Here's the other thing.
05:24If you're trying to like, we're talking about, what are you excited to see? I'm excited to
05:28see Levi on Zerique get out there and live up to some of the hype. But if you're just
05:35looking at the, a preseason game and trying to find excitement, if you see Nate Sudfeld
05:42go out under center to start, there's a lot of people that'll probably turn the channel
05:47until they get the notification from their NFL plus subscription or the free press or
05:53whatever notification that you get that says, Hey, tune in. Hendon hooker is going to be
05:58under center next. Like that's when you turn back in hooker. Well, I mean, of course, but
06:06if the two things that Dan Campbell, I think has been most vocal about in camp is the wide
06:15receiver three. We went through that the other day. I don't think that's that big of an issue
06:19because they have tight ends and running backs. They throw two. I think it's owns a
06:23Rike and it's because if this guy, and that's the other vocal thing, if this guy ends up
06:29contributing to this team in a positive way, that's just one more thing that we didn't
06:34expect. That's like a free agent or another draft pick. We, if this guy is what they're
06:41talking about, it's a game changer guys. They're talking about him as a starter, right?
06:46Because Campbell said he's one of the best on that defensive line. The defensive line
06:52has Aiden Hutchinson, Eileen McNeil, DJ reader. When the regular season gets underway, hopefully,
06:56right. Well, hopefully. And, and Marcus Davenport on the other edge spot. So I don't know how
07:01Levi's playing. If reader and McNeil are healthy. I actually, I don't know how he's starting.
07:07Well, he will play. I'm actually curious because if DJ reader and we we've heard that there,
07:13there's a chance he might be available week one. There's a chance he might not be ready
07:16until weeks two or three. If, if the legend grows and the legend is backed up by playing
07:24time or by, by production, is there a chance we start the season with a lean McNeil and
07:30Levi owns a Rike as your two defensive tackles, right? And him playing the way they say, they
07:35say he's looking with confidence and he's like, Hey, they kind of built them up to be
07:40this monster, right? He's 300 pounds. He's over 300 pounds. That's what Dan Campbell
07:44said. He's caught. He's ready to go. He's playing with great confidence. And I'm one
07:48with defensive line. I believe rotations are huge. Oh, absolutely. And so I don't care
07:54if he doesn't start, if he's part of the regular rotation, that's a positive.
