00:00We all know that prices went up during the pandemic when the supply chains shut down and
00:06failed. But our supply chains have now improved and prices are still too high.
00:16A loaf of bread cost 50 percent more today than it did before the pandemic.
00:21And ground beef is up almost 50 percent. Many of the big food companies are seeing
00:30their highest profits in two decades. And while many grocery chains pass along these savings,
00:40others still aren't. And I will work to pass the first ever federal ban on price gauging on food.
00:49My plan will include new penalties for opportunistic companies that exploit crises
00:57and break the rules. And we will support
01:01smaller food businesses that are trying to play by the rules and get ahead.
