01:23With the growing influence of the internet and social media,
01:27the news and false information is also spreading.
01:419 out of 10 adults believe that fake news in the Philippines is a problem in the Pulse Asia survey.
01:50In the separate survey of the SWS, 67% said that fake news on the internet is a serious problem.
01:58More than half of those surveyed said that fake news on television, radio, or social media is extremely difficult to discuss.
02:10And with the rapid spread of technology, the number of victims of false information is increasing.
02:20This is where the GMA's mission came into being.
02:28Because of the increasing and wide proliferation of fake news, including the so-called deepfakes in all media platforms,
02:43we thought of organizing a group composed of those who can directly and indirectly help to fight fake news.
02:55And we believe that it is now timely to do this with the coming midterm elections in May 2025.
