00:00Good news, the employees of the government have reached their first increase in their salary.

00:08Now, the Budget Department has issued a budget for its implementation.

00:13Ivan Mayrina is on the scene.

00:19The Department of Budget and Management issued a budget circular today

00:22detailing the first tranche or first decrease in the government's salary.

00:27We have already sent the guidelines to our national government agencies

00:32so that they can start the computation of the adjustments.

00:36The civilian government personnel in the Executive Branch,

00:40in the Legislative, or Congress and Senate,

00:42and Judiciary, or Courts,

00:45Constitutional Commissions,

00:46GOCC,

00:47and local governments,

00:49are not included here because they have their own salary structure.

00:54Within four years, from 2024 to 2027,

00:58government employees will receive a high salary,

01:01depending on their salary grade or rank.

01:04A teacher who is below the salary grade 11, for example,

01:08currently receives P27,000 per month,

01:11after the first tranche this year,

01:13will receive P1,512.

01:17A new P1,512 will be added in 2025.

01:21P1,681 in 2026,

01:24and P1,682 in the last tranche in 2027.

01:28Accordingly, after four years,

01:31the salary of a teacher will increase to more than P6,000.

01:35Aside from the high salary,

01:36it is also expected that the government will increase the medical allowance

01:40to P7,000 per year per employee,

01:43which is still part of the additional benefit.

01:45The first decrease in the high salary was effective on January 1, 2024

01:49for the national agencies.

01:51That's why this is retroactive,

01:53or it will chase the expected high salary from January.

01:56For the local governments,

01:58they need to issue an ordinance to make this effective.

02:01They have allocated P36 billion for the high salary this year.

02:06What the President said is to ensure that whatever adjustment that we do,

02:12it makes it competitive versus the private rates,

02:16the market rates in the private sector.

02:19So we try our best to make it competitive.
