00:00How you doing, man?
00:02Good, how are you?
00:03I'm well, what's your name?
00:04Matt, Matt Franco.
00:05Matt, what are you going to do for us today?
00:06I'm going to be doing a card trick, doing some magic.
00:10When I first saw magic, it was on TV.
00:12I was four years old.
00:13I immediately, you know, begged my parents to get me a magic set,
00:17and I brought it into kindergarten for show and tell the next week.
00:21That was my first audience.
00:22One, two, three.
00:24Stephanie, which hand?
00:25Five.
00:26Don't look too hard, I cheated.
00:27I'm just kidding.
00:28My family altogether has always been really supportive.
00:30My grandma in particular, when I was little,
00:32she would just sit with me for hours watching me do tricks.
00:37I'd get halfway through and something would happen and it didn't work,
00:40and I would say, oh, I have to start all over again.
00:42And she just happily sat through that for hours and hours,
00:46for years and years and years.
00:48In fact, she still would do it today.
00:50Hi, Grandma.
00:53What's going to separate you from all the others you've seen?
00:56Well, I'm doing something that you've never seen before
00:58on America's Got Talent.
00:59Really?
01:00I'm telling a story that I wrote about this show.
01:03At 25 years old, I'm still just as obsessed with magic
01:06as I was when I was four.
01:08I love it.
01:10I've never been in front of an audience like this before.
01:12I'm pretty nervous, but if I'm not ready now,
01:14I'm not sure if I ever will be.
01:17Ready, Matt?
01:18Let's do it.
01:19Let's get him.
01:21Wow.
01:24Hi.
01:25How you doing?
01:26Good.
01:27Welcome to America's Got Talent.
01:29What's your name, and what are you going to be doing for us today?
01:32My name's Matt Franco, and I'm going to do some magic.
01:35When did you start getting into magic?
01:39At what age?
01:40I started becoming fascinated with magic when I was four years old.
01:44Four?
01:45Yeah.
01:46I saw a magician on TV, and I would record him,
01:48and I would watch him over and over in slow motion
01:50to try to figure out how to do the tricks.
01:52That's how I learned.
01:53Wow.
01:54Wow.
01:55So you're self-taught.
01:56Yes.
01:57Well, I think we're excited to see it.
01:59Good luck.
02:00Enjoy yourself.
02:02I wrote a story just for you guys.
02:04It's a close-up trick.
02:05If you don't mind, I'm going to join you at the table.
02:07Yeah.
02:08Okay.
02:09Come on over.
02:11Now, please, keep in mind,
02:13what you're about to see is going to be done
02:15with a genuinely shuffled deck of cards.
02:18It's a story about season nine of America's Got Talent
02:22with Howard Stern, our king of media,
02:24America's sweetheart, Heidi Klum,
02:26Mel B, our queen of pop,
02:27and, of course, our favorite, Joker.
02:30Don't worry, Nick.
02:31I haven't forgotten.
02:32I'm going to do it.
02:33I'm going to do it.
02:34I'm going to do it.
02:35I'm going to do it.
02:36I'm going to do it.
02:37I'm going to do it.
02:38I'm going to do it.
02:39Don't worry, Nick.
02:40I haven't forgotten about you.
02:41You really are a jack of all trades.
02:43Jack of all trades.
02:45Me, I'm 25 years old,
02:47and sad as it may sound,
02:49this whole magic thing has pretty much
02:51consumed my life all the time,
02:53like, 24-7,
02:55since I was about four years old.
02:57See, people often ask,
02:58where do you see yourself in 10 years?
03:00But even just five years ago,
03:01I never guessed that I'd be here
03:03on season nine of America's Got Talent,
03:06hoping to hit the jackpot
03:08in front of an amazing full house audience
03:11here at the Dolby Theater.
03:13Wow.
03:14I will never forget the address here,
03:17number 6801.
03:19Of course, I don't have a zero in a deck of cards,
03:21so sometimes I improvise.
03:24I never thought I'd be here
03:25across from the great Howard Stern.
03:27Now, Howard, I gotta be honest.
03:28I know these cards,
03:29this king here doesn't really look like you.
03:31In fact, in my opinion,
03:33all of you judges look much better
03:35one, two, in the flesh.
03:38Ha-ha!
03:39Yup, even you, Howard.
03:40Oh, my God!
03:42You all look great.
03:45You look great dressed to the nines,
03:47but don't get me wrong,
03:48I'm not just up here to be kissing your aces.
03:51Well, except for maybe you, Heidi.
03:53See, you do have undeniable sex appeal.
03:56We all know that.
03:58But it's you, Mel B,
03:59that I've always had the hots for.
04:01You see, you were part of the Spice Girls.
04:05The only group in history
04:06to have four consecutive number-one hits
04:09since the legendary Jax,
04:11and five.
04:21Stay in an ovation.
04:23Tonight, I'll start by having not just one,
04:26but three judges choose cards at random.
04:28Howard, starting with you.
04:30Go ahead and just slide out anyone there.
04:32There's a lot of pressure on me, you know.
04:34Oh, yeah.
04:35I'm not used to it.
04:36It's okay if I see the card.
04:37I've seen this trick before.
04:38Please show it to the judges' camera there.
04:39There it is.
04:40Great.
04:41And Heidi, if you could please slide out
04:42anyone from the middle there.
04:44Perfect.
04:45And hold it up for the camera
04:46so everyone can see it.
04:47And last but not least,
04:48if you could, Howie,
04:49just go ahead and slide out one.
04:54Don't worry, Mel,
04:55I haven't forgotten about you.
04:56In the meantime,
04:57I'd like to take all of your cards.
04:58One, two, three.
05:01Mel, please hold up your hand
05:02right about here.
05:03And I'm going to have you
05:04hold all three cards right there.
05:05Do you have your phone on you?
05:06I always have my phone on me.
05:07If it's okay with you,
05:08I'd like to take a picture
05:09of you holding those three cards.
05:11Is that okay?
05:12Yeah.
05:13All right.
05:14All three of them right here.
05:15The six, four, and two.
05:17In fact, Mel B,
05:18if you could just hold them up
05:19a little bit higher.
05:20We'll get one more picture
05:21just in case.
05:22Yeah, all right?
05:23Great.
05:24If you could just set the cards down.
05:26Now that we have photo proof of the cards,
05:29there's no way I can switch them.
05:30Oh, my God.
05:32Mel.
05:33Are you freaking kidding me?
05:34I'm sorry.
05:35It got a little bit wet.
05:36See if you can turn the phone on.
05:39See if you can fix it there.
05:43Don't worry.
05:44I have a backup plan.
05:45Can you turn it on?
05:46Not on.
05:47It's not turning on.
05:48Okay.
05:49Let me see if I can actually fix
05:52Mel B's phone.
05:53There's a two-step process.
05:55It's very simple, Mel.
05:57Step one is isolate the phone.
06:01Watch.
06:03Step two, Mel, is drying it off.
06:12Look.
06:16Great.
06:19That's not a bad sign.
06:21Not only is your phone fixed,
06:22but it's actually,
06:23believe it or not,
06:25gone.
06:31Everyone's smiling and clapping
06:32except for Mel B.
06:34I'm so sorry.
06:35I'll tell you what.
06:36If your phone really is fixed,
06:37we should be able to hear it
06:38across America if we call it.
06:40Heidi, could you please call Mel's phone
06:42right now?
06:43Call it now.
06:44Okay, okay, okay.
06:45Pressure, pressure, pressure.
06:47Everyone.
06:48There you are, Mel, Mel, Mel.
06:51Listen closely.
06:52We might even hear it.
06:56It's ringing.
06:57Do you hear that?
06:58Where is it?
06:59Mel, we need to find exactly
07:00where it is.
07:01It's in the building.
07:02Come with me, Mel.
07:03Come this way.
07:04Is this crazy?
07:05Come over here.
07:06It sounds like I hear it coming
07:07from this side of the room.
07:09Can you hear that?
07:10I don't know.
07:11I just need to find it.
07:14You guys feel something
07:15in this section?
07:16You guys are pointing.
07:17It's there.
07:19You hear it?
07:20I hear it.
07:21So you have your hand raised, yes?
07:23Could you please stand?
07:26And all three of you,
07:27please stand, actually.
07:28Right here on the end, stand up
07:29and just make your way
07:30into the aisle.
07:31Could I have you three up as well?
07:32Sure.
07:33Step out this way.
07:35Excuse me just a second.
07:36Mel, I want you to stand
07:37right here.
07:39Just sit here.
07:40Stand there.
07:41Watch everything I do.
07:42This is about to get dangerous.
07:48Watch!
07:50Whoa!
07:53Mel, I've cut open the seat here.
07:55I don't want to do anything.
07:56I want you to reach inside.
07:57Reach over the seat from there.
07:58How can I reach over there?
07:59Just reach over.
08:00You got this.
08:01I felt something.
08:02Dig inside right here.
08:03Reach inside there.
08:04Oh my God!
08:05See if you can find anything, Mel.
08:06Oh my God!
08:11Hold on.
08:16Thank you so much.
08:17But if this really is your phone,
08:18you'll see it's got
08:19the picture that we started with.
08:21No!
08:24Holding.
08:28But wait!
08:30Please wait.
08:32There are thousands of seats
08:33here at Radio City,
08:34but your phone was somehow
08:35inside this seat.
08:37How is that possible?
08:38Mel, look at the seat number.
08:41Six, four, two.
08:43No!
08:48Thank you!
08:49Thank you so much.

09:10And Fluffington.
09:12Okay, Will.

09:17a turning point for my life.
09:19And I really want to make it
09:20happen for my family.
09:25Okay, Will.
09:26Is this something

09:30I just created it for this show.
09:32Are you serious?
09:37Well, that's exciting.
09:40Okay, Will.
09:41Good luck.
09:42I can't wait to see this.
09:44No worries.
09:57I like flowers
09:58because they remind me
09:59of how beautiful life is,
10:01but also very fragile.
10:04And that's why
10:05every second
10:07counts.
10:09In the grand scheme of things,
10:11life happens
10:12in the blink of an eye.
10:14So for the next few moments,
10:15don't blink.
11:39Whoa!
11:40Love petals!
11:45Love petals!
12:08Hello.
12:09Hi.
12:10Howie, I remember you saying
12:11this is one of the best acts
12:12you saw, right?
12:13The best close-up magic
12:14I have ever seen
12:15in my life.
12:17No pressure, Will,
12:18but you think you can up that?
12:20I hope I can.
12:21Well, you're a really nice guy.
12:22I hope you do well.
12:30Growing up,
12:31my very first pet
12:32was a fish.
12:35His name was Joey,
12:36and he was my best friend.
12:38I always wondered
12:39what it would be like
12:40to bring Joey back
12:42using magic.
12:44And I did.
13:11His eye!
13:12Wow.
13:14Wow.
13:45Wow.
13:59Everyone, meet my friend Joey.
14:04Hi.

14:10We have a dangerous act
14:11that I want to show you
14:12to you guys.
14:13How long have you been
14:14doing this?
14:15This one is the second one.
14:17Oh.
14:18So you've only done it once.
14:19Oh, my God.
14:21Oh, my God.
14:22And this is a very
14:23dangerous escape act.
14:24Yes.
14:25Why?
14:26What could happen?
14:27He could die.
14:28Yes.
14:29You're being serious.
14:30It's serious.
14:31I will be locked up
14:33from ankles, wrists, and neck
14:35with only fragile cover
14:36above me.
14:37I have two minutes
14:38to escape
14:39before 900 pounds of sand
14:40above that
14:41crush the cover
14:42and bury me alive.
14:44And you believe
14:45it's worth risking
14:46your life for this?
14:47For America's Got Talent?
14:48Yes.
14:49Do you have a family?
14:50My wife is watching
14:51from the side.
14:52And probably
14:53she's not going to look
14:54because she's always afraid
14:56about everything.
14:57Yeah.
14:58Oh, hi.
14:59Your wife is very beautiful.
15:00Do you have children?
15:01No, but hopefully
15:02after this,
15:03I'm going to start
15:04a family with my wife.
15:06Are you ready
15:07to start a family?
15:08Yes.
15:09Yes.
15:10Fingercross.
15:11Everybody.
15:12My gosh.
15:13Good luck.
15:42It's 900 pounds of sand.
15:44I think sand
15:45could be worse than water.
16:03Oh, he has a thing
16:04on his neck.
16:05Ew.
16:06He's going to close that.
16:07Look.
16:12Oh, my gosh.
16:13You're going to be buried alive.
16:15Oh, my gosh.
16:42Oh, my gosh.
16:44What's wrong?
16:45Oh, my gosh.
16:46He's stuck.
16:47What happened?
16:48Oh.
16:49Oh.
16:50Oh.
16:51Oh.
16:52Oh.
16:53Oh, my gosh.
16:54Oh.
16:55Oh.
16:56Oh.
16:57Oh.
16:58Oh.
16:59Oh.
17:00Oh.
17:01Oh.
17:02Oh.
17:03Oh.
17:04Oh.
17:05Oh.
17:06Oh.
17:07Oh.
17:08Oh.
17:09Oh.
17:10Is that a problem?
17:40Oh, my God.
17:55Your name is Jackie Yu, I remember, and you're from South Korea.
17:59Yes.
18:00Does this mean a lot to you?
18:01Yes, I believe that I can make my own American dream come true through America's Got Talent.
18:06I think you can.
18:08So, you remember last time, Simon didn't like you.
18:12Yeah, maybe this time I'll make you surprised.
18:15Yeah?
18:16Let's do it.
18:17Okay.
18:18I love his laugh.
18:19Thank you so much.
18:20Oh, I guess you started.
18:21All right, okay.
18:22Today, I bring a special act that looks like Howie.
18:27In the front.
18:31Thank you so much.
18:32You're welcome.
18:33Okay, let's start, let's start.
18:35I'm going to show you some amazing card magic with this ball.
18:38Is there anything inside?
18:39No.
18:40Nothing?
18:41Okay, and this is all different card, right?
18:42Yeah.
18:43Thank you so much.
18:44Yes, all different cards.
18:45Okay, and just please pick any card you want.
18:46Any card is okay.
18:47This way, you want to pick it this way?
18:48Yes.
18:49Like here?
18:50Okay, and please sign your name on the face of the card.
18:53Face, okay.
18:54Okay.
18:55And ID?
18:56Yes.
18:57Okay, please attach the sticker at the back of the signed card.
18:59You want me to stick them on?
19:01Yes.
19:02Okay, and let's start.
19:05I put the card in the middle of the deck like this and try to find your card.
19:09But when you watch card tricks, many of you imagine that the magician can move the chosen card to the top or to the bottom.
19:17But today, I'm going to try something different.
19:19Okay.
19:20If you look under the ball, there's a card in it, and it is signed card.
19:25Oh my gosh.
19:29Okay, I'll show you once again.
19:31I put the card in the middle of the deck like this and shuffle them like this.
19:36But there it is under the ball again.
19:38It's amazing.
19:42Okay, I'll show you once again.
19:44I put the card in the middle and shuffle them like this and shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, shuffle them again.
19:49But there it is under the ball again.
19:51It's amazing.
19:52Signed card.
19:58Okay, wait, wait, wait.
19:59I'll put it in the last time.
20:00I put the card in the middle.
20:02The deck is good.
20:07Okay, there's only one card left, but watch this card.
20:10It changes to signed card.
20:12Oh my gosh.
20:14The last deck, the last deck is under the ball.
20:19What?
20:25Hello.
20:26Hey, how's it going?
20:27Very well, thank you.
20:28Very well, thank you.
20:29Do you want to tell us what your name is, please?
20:31Yeah, Tom London.
20:32And Tom, how old are you?
20:33I'm 25.
20:34And what are you going to be doing today?
20:36I'm a magician.
20:37And what's been or who's been your main inspiration, Tom?
20:41It's been my dad.
20:42My whole life, I've just grown up wanting to be like him.
20:45If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be able to do what I'm about to try and do.
20:48I presume if you did well on the show, then Vegas would be the...
20:52It's always been my dream to create the best magic show Vegas has ever seen.
20:56That people would travel from around the world to go and see.
20:58Good luck.
21:01Ladies and gentlemen, I want to try and do something that's never been done before.
21:05Can all of you take out your mobile phones?
21:07And I want you to just hold them up in the air.
21:10Can you all do that for me?
21:11Judges, I'd like to stand up and have a look at the audience.
21:18Oh my God.
21:22That's crazy.
21:26How are you doing that?
21:27In today's world, we're all connected through our cell phones.
21:31But what I want to show you is that we're actually all connected on a far deeper level.
21:35Simon, you'll notice that a few of the devices are still red.
21:37Yeah.
21:38I want you just to choose three of them to come and join me on stage.
21:41Pick the one that's all the way in the end.
21:42You, please.
21:45In the red.
21:46Yeah.
21:48And you.
21:49Come on.
21:51Tara, can you bring your phone as well?
21:53Can you just unlock the phone and open the calculator?
21:55Okay, that's great.
21:56Okay, here's what I want to do.
21:58So I want you to try and guess for me.
22:00How many number one selling artists do you think Simon Cowell has had on his record label?
22:0453.
22:0553.
22:06Tara, could you just type in 53?
22:0853.
22:09Yeah.
22:10All right, I'm jumping in now.
22:11Go for it.
22:12And then secondly, how many millions of records do you think Mel, when she performed with Spice Girls, sold worldwide?
22:16Just go for it.
22:17Millions.
22:18102.
22:19102.
22:20Tara, can you hit multiply?
22:21Times?
22:22Yeah, and then 102.
22:23102.
22:24Okay.
22:25Okay, and next up, I want you to try and guess what year Heidi began modeling.
22:29Oh.
22:30Oh, it's a hard one.
22:31Sorry, I'm so bad at math.
22:341970.
22:37Nope, 1980.
22:39Not when I was born.
22:40Oh, okay.
22:41Sorry.
22:421987?
22:4587.
22:46Okay.
22:47Tara, can you hit multiply?
22:48Okay.
22:49And then just 87?
22:5087.
22:51Wonderful.
22:53Okay, and then here's what we're going to do.
22:54Hit the plus sign.
22:55Plus.
22:56Fantastic.
22:57Now, a little buddy told me, Harry, that you've had a lot of girlfriends.
23:00But instead of just guessing, Tara, what I want you to do is I want you to have your thumbs over the numbers.
23:05Thumbs over the numbers.
23:06Yeah.
23:07Now, I want you to make a random guess.
23:08I want you to close your eyes and just hit maybe like seven or eight numbers.
23:11Go for it.
23:12One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
23:14Okay, cool.
23:15Hit equals.
23:16Equals.
23:17Okay, sweet.
23:18Now, I just want you to read that number out for me.
23:19Is that okay?
23:20Okay, ready?
23:21Go for it.
23:2273 million.
23:23Okay, 73 million.
23:25928,000.
23:27928,000.
23:29547.
23:31547.
23:33Wonderful, guys.
23:34Give a round of applause for these three volunteers.
23:37And for Tara Banks, please take a seat.
23:39It's not over yet, is it?
23:40Take a seat, guys.
23:41Thank you very much.
23:42Okay, guys, so we've got this random number here.
23:44But there's something bigger going on.
23:47There's something impossible.
23:49There's something magical.
23:51I want you guys to see this.
23:54I'm here on Hollywood Boulevard.
23:55It's a few hours until my audition.
23:58This number, 73,928,547.
24:04Does this mean anything to you?
24:12What?
24:14But wait, but wait.
24:16Do you remember at the start,
24:17I said that we're all connected on a far, far deeper level?
24:20Yeah.
24:21Well, Simon, I think you'll find that you've actually had 47 number one selling artists.
24:26And Mel, you sold 85 million records with the Spice Girls.
24:31Heidi, you started your career in 1992 when you won Models 92.
24:35That's right.
24:36And Howie, you and I both know that you've not had 73 girlfriends.
24:43But that's because you married your high school sweetheart.
24:45And you've been married to her for 37 years.
24:56Wow.
24:57That's amazing.
24:58I mean.
25:15Wow.
