00:00Now, from a Rookie of the Year perspective, we're obviously still looking at Kaitlyn Clark
00:06here.
00:07Look at her season statistics here.
00:08Points per game, 17 points.
00:10Assists per game, 8 points.
00:11Rebounds close to 6 per game, and it seemed like she was getting better as the year's
00:14going on.
00:15She got a nice little break here, didn't have to play in the Olympics, now she's back for
00:18the second half.
00:19Talk to me about this Rookie of the Year candidate, what we can expect over the second half of
00:23the season.
00:24Sure.
00:25I think what's been most impressive is that it has not been the runaway race for Rookie
00:29of the Year that we expected.
00:31Kaitlyn Clark and Angel Reese have both really exceeded expectations.
00:35I think that their shooting percentages are lower than we might have expected.
00:38They're both around 40%, but when you look at the effective field goal percentage with
00:42Kaitlyn, that bumps up because of all those long threes she takes.
00:45But for her to be leading the league in assists, while also putting up 17 points a game, while
00:50also having Indiana in position for a playoff spot as of now, and then you look at Angel
00:55and that that was a full rebuild in Chicago, and that they're in a playoff position as
01:00well, and that Angel is right now neck and neck with not just Asia Wilson for leading
01:06the league in rebounding, but for the best rebounding season in the WNBA all-time, that's
01:11pretty awesome.
01:12I just think that what Kaitlyn is doing, like you said, she's at the top of all these categories,
01:17is just pretty remarkable, and she keeps on getting better, and she's putting up these
01:22record performances that we're now seeing her get more comfortable, which is what we
01:26thought we would see, but the chemistry building, especially with Aliyah Boston, and the fact
01:32that both of these players were able to take a break for three weeks after coming straight
01:37from college, straight from that tournament, and going right into training camp, I think
01:41is huge, and this second half, we should see the best.
