00:06Half of them's gone, haven't they? Half of the shops that were always in Sheffield now,
00:10and the big names and all that, they've all gone and moving out, haven't they?

00:20Well, I suppose it was mostly like an industrial manufacturing steel place when I was a kid.
00:28I don't think it's that much. It's changed a bit since then.

00:34Well, that's changed. I mean, a lot of things have changed, like you see around on these streets and things.
00:38But I say that the nature of the place, it's focusing more, I think, on universities and stuff,
00:44when it used to be more manufacturing.
00:47I think that's probably the most fundamental thing.
00:51Could you tell me please what's the biggest change that you've seen in Sheffield since you were a child?
00:56Probably, there's been some roadworks about.
01:01I haven't seen the HMV and the Wendy's when I used to come here a lot.

01:12Yeah, new shops. They can spend money.

01:22Just how it's expanded and how there's a lot more restaurants and bars and such like that.
01:27Going from more of an industrial kind of basis to loads of different brands and such like that.
01:32It's been fantastic, really.
01:35What's been the biggest change that you've seen in Sheffield since you were a child?
01:39Masses of new buildings. The centre has been transformed.
01:45Yeah, more parks I think. Lovely, very nice, good parks.
01:55Was it very different when you were younger?
01:58I think they weren't as good. They've really updated a lot of the parks.
02:03The council are doing a brilliant job I think with the parks.
