00:00 Tell me please what you think the biggest waste of public money has been in Sheffield over the years?
00:04 The Fargate, tearing it up and putting it back again, tearing it up again.
00:09 I think that's been the biggest waste for me.
00:12 Tell me what you think the biggest waste of public money has been in Sheffield?
00:16 So I'd probably say it's the use of the money on the roads where they do temporary fixes
00:22 rather than just doing one solid fix. It lasts for about six months and then it has to get redone again and again causing more problems.
00:29 Tell me please what you think the biggest waste of public money has been in Sheffield?
00:34 Well I think the container park was a complete waste and obviously quite a few other people think that as well don't they?
00:41 That was a shame, it could have been used for something else.
00:45 Tell me please what you think the biggest waste of public money has been in Sheffield?
00:49 I think there's a lot of money going to places that are quite good but I just think the way it's set up is what's bad.
00:55 It's the fact that you have to use it all within the year when it would be better to maybe save it up and do a bigger project.
01:00 And I think that a lot of people are upset about the state of the roads in a lot of different areas, a lot of potholes, a lot of damage.
01:06 So some of the road repairs have been a bit of a waste of money, how would you think?
01:10 Yeah because I feel like they get done every so often but it's just not that well because there isn't enough money to do it properly.
01:16 So they should just do it all at once?
01:17 Well I mean also yes and if you think about the Snake Pass road between Sheffield and Manchester, it's completely falling apart and no one has money to fix it and I don't think they ever will fix it.
01:26 Tell me please what you think the biggest waste of public money has been in Sheffield?
01:31 I would probably say the National Centre of Music, that was open a few years ago I think.
01:37 Millennium Project?
01:38 Yes that's correct, I think it could have been a really positive thing and it was just lost really, really quickly so that was disappointing.
01:46 Could you tell me please what you think the biggest waste of public money has been in Sheffield over the years?
01:51 There's been a lot, you could mention many things in Sheffield.
01:55 There's been some good things as well but the biggest waste of money that springs to mind is that filling in the hole in the road.
02:03 You know why do they need to do that with all that bloody concrete and spoiling what was a lovely little place to go to?
02:09 I remember it from the early 80s, I suppose maybe that's because I'm reminiscent and thinking about all the good times and stuff when we used to go to the pubs and the clubs around here in Sheffield
02:21 and the hole in the road was like the place that you would just bypass, there was a big fish tank with all sorts of stuff and little shops.
02:29 And then the other thing was the market, the marketplace, that was a really lovely place to go to, Castle Market.
02:36 And I went down there recently and it really broke my heart because I thought the whole soul and heart was ripped out of that area.
02:45 And I remember it when I was here in the early 80s and we used to go down to the market to buy food and other stuff.
02:52 And I just think it's such a sad waste of money that that's just gone. I hope that something really useful is done with it.
