00:00How exciting to have such a dear and special guest for our People VIP, Esteban Cortázar,
00:10Colombian designer, proud and friend. How nice, how nice that you are here with us to
00:16tell us about new projects and beautiful things like everything you do. Welcome!
00:21Thank you, Kika. Thank you very much for the invitation, for always having me in mind.
00:27I am very happy to be here with you. Well, let's go on a trip, let's go to that beautiful tropic
00:33from which we both come and well, from which we have so much inspiration and so many beautiful things
00:41to show the world. You do it through your designs, through your clothes and now you come
00:46with fresh fruit. So how is this? Tell us. Well, Donde Esteban is a very, very special project
00:53that I have been working on for several years, very closely linked to my roots, where I come from,
00:59as you already know, and this new collection, Fruta Fresca, well, of course, I did a little of everything.
01:05The idea is to collaborate with artists for each collection. I obviously started working
01:11with my father's art, Valentino Cortázar, and for Fruta Fresca I worked with the legacy of
01:17Ana Mercedes Hoyos, an artist that I have always admired and that I love her colors and her
01:24perspectives and her story. And I always wanted to do a kind of collaboration with her and I am
01:33very, very, very happy that I was able to achieve it. And nothing, it is always a very nice project
01:41because it is very personal and obviously celebrates my Colombian roots, my Latin roots,
01:48and my lifestyle in general. I know, I know, and that is always reflected in everything you do,
01:53but hey, let's go with the collection. Tell us about certain pieces, because look,
01:57something that precisely characterized Ana Mercedes were these, really, the fruits as such,
02:04the palenqueras that she painted with this beauty of patillas, well, watermelons, I don't know how to say it,
02:11but this kind of things, of a color and a life that give you more or less desire to bite this
02:17fruit of the isocentro. So what pieces, how has it served, let's say, this application of Ana
02:21Mercedes to capture it in your garments? I always wanted to do something around the fruits,
02:27and it is the first time that I do it, because I have always found the fruits
02:33as a kind of very surreal creatures, especially when you open them, the colors,
02:41the sensuality they have, the life they have, obviously how rich they taste, that is, it is
02:52like there is something very beautiful around the fruits and obviously the fruits are very,
02:58they are very Latin, they are very Caribbean, they are, they are, they form a large part of many cultures,
03:05but obviously a large part of the Latin culture, so it gave me, that was the first thing
03:11that gave me a lot of inspiration, obviously the song of Carlos Vives Fruta Fresca has been a
03:17great inspiration in my life, I love that song, I love the memories it gives me,
03:24and from there came a little also the sensuality of the fruits, because precisely that song speaks
03:33of a very deep story of love, where he is a little singing a hymn to the love he has
03:40for his girlfriend, and the song is called Fruta Fresca, so there is something like when he says
03:46that kiss, open your mouth that tastes like fresh fruit, so he came from there, he wanted to make silhouettes
03:51that were very sensual, that moved with the wind, that moved with dance, that
03:58fell in a divine way in the bodies, that the prints were reflected in super soft fabrics,
04:07light, vaporous, and from there came the inspiration, that was a bit like the starting point of what I
04:15wanted to do, and little by little I saw it, I was developing more and more silhouettes, both for women
04:21and for men, and I am super happy that we were able to launch it recently. Exactly, the launch
04:30was at the end of June and it is already available, so tell us to end up falling in love
04:35with all this beautiful and so authentic proposal, which is what is really worth the most, it is so yours,
04:43where, how, how do we really be able to enjoy these beautiful garments? Well, at this
04:52moment, the beginnings of the development of Donde Esteban are exclusively through the
04:58website Donde Esteban, there is where you can discover the complete collection, and little by
05:06little we are getting more garments from the same drop of fresh fruit, but also,
05:14that is, if you are in Mykonos or in Bodrum, you can find it in Scorpios, or if you are in Ibiza,
05:22you can find it in Agora, in Six Senses, it will be in Sandom, in Cartagena, so the idea is to
05:30start working with different stores that are closely linked to the resort world,
05:38and that have a lot to do with the spirit of the brand. Perfect, look, continue with that ingenuity,
05:47with that creativity, and with that love for what is ours, because that is really what comes the most,
05:52apart from your genius, that love is the one that also gives, in the end, to everything you do,
05:58that special magical touch. I send you a big kiss, and here we will always be
06:03pending to support you, and to celebrate each of your creations. Thank you,
06:09I hope to see you very soon, and give you a big hug.
