00:00The ending weekend of the Olympic Games over in Paris this summer in 2024 in the final event of
00:07the final day of action prior to the closing ceremonies a gold medal game between the host
00:13nation in France and the United States in women's basketball. The Americans looking for their eighth
00:19consecutive gold medal to become the most dominant team we've ever seen in Olympic history in a team
00:26sport it was not easy the United States probably facing their best test they have in over a decade
00:34but they do prevail for a one-point victory in Paris over France 67-66 the French do cover
00:42as a 16-point underdog a pre-game total in the low 150 stays well under but the story at the end
00:51the Americans eight consecutive gold medals we will recap why and how it happened yesterday over in Paris
00:59yeah a brutal basketball game overall just from an aesthetic standpoint but that doesn't matter
01:03like nobody's going to remember that in 20 years say hey you know who won that Olympic gold medal
01:07it was team USA 67-66 you take a look at that 34% shooting from the floor for team USA 16%
01:14from three-point range you take a look early on Asia Wilson I mean just couldn't find the rim
01:19layup short jump shots nothing was working but sort of really influenced that third and fourth
01:24quarter finishing with 21 and 13 certainly the MVP of team USA but the interesting part goes down is
01:30like we now enter into the stage where three-point shooting is so important we'll talk about the men's
01:34game in just a little bit but you see them two for 12 from three you know what opened up the court
01:39I don't know a guard that can bomb away from you know logo range and make those shots so you have
01:44to actually play the three-point line can't remember that girl's name but she might have
01:47been okay but we didn't expect Caitlin Clark to play in this Olympic she didn't make the team and
01:52we still thought team USA was going to win and they did that that was the name of the game that
01:56was the goal but now as we flip the page over to 2028 it's going to be a lot of young superstars
02:00a lot of great guards still that are going to be available for team USA when it gets to Los Angeles
02:06there were a lot of great guards on this team I actually don't blame the selection of the roster
02:10I blame the person making the calls on the bench I have no idea what Cheryl Reeve was doing for most
02:16of yesterday Sabrina Ionescu comes right in makes an immediate impact able to space
02:22out the four in a game that France was key on the defensive end 2028 will come Caitlin Clark
02:29Angel Reese the young rooks will all get their time to represent team USA let's focus on what
02:35we have seen yesterday in eight consecutive gold medals for team USA but it was oh so close
02:41I mean inches away Gabby Williams five-year WNBA vet who most recently played with Seattle
02:48a season ago in 2023 drove down the length of the floor at the end of the game hoisted one up from
02:56around the three-point arc with the United States up 67-64 shot banked in a shout out to Noah Eagle
03:04live on the broadcast almost immediately saying that it was a two-point shot and it was clear that
03:11Gabby Williams foot was on the line probably half of her sneaker inside the arc so the Americans
03:18barely survived by one point 67-66 61 consecutive victories for the United States dating back to the
03:271992 games in Barcelona in eight consecutive gold medals we'll get to Captain America for
03:35women's hoops in just a second that would be the tournament MVP in Asia Wilson but a quick
03:40shout out to Kalia Copper 12 points 10 of them in the fourth and final quarter the product of
03:46Rutgers stepping up on the biggest stage in the most significant time leading the Americans in
03:51that fourth quarter DRS with 10 big points yeah there's a lot of strong layups late there too
03:57starting to clinch that out and also team USA's free throw shooting down the stretch was also
04:01very good you take a look at Copper and Plum both off the bench six of six of keys from the free
04:05throw line that's what you needed at the end of that basketball game it is interesting to watch
04:09the international game from let's just say the WNBA game or the NBA game because it's so so much
04:14more physical at that point so even if you can muck and grind like France was trying to do in
04:19the end team USA was still the stronger team and ended up prevailing so I do it could have been
04:24so much easier we're saying like which team can actually stay within double digits of team USA
04:28and it was France almost pulled the miraculous upset at that point but no shame in the U.S.'s
04:32game you're going to run in games where you face adversity they face it the entire second half
04:36which included I believe watching out of the gate like an 8-0 run by France to take that lead like
04:41oh my goodness they're going to lose this game but they settled in played some really good defense
04:44and then picking up the victory which is the main part there the United States was down double digits
04:50early in the second half early in the third quarter I bet the Americans live on FanDuel
04:55with a nice 30% profit boost brought the money line down to minus 118 bang got the cash that we
05:03needed only three players in double figures yesterday for the U.S. Kalia Copper who we
05:08shared had 10 in the fourth quarter Kelsey Plum had 12 but there's nobody better in women's
05:13basketball right now than Asia Wilson 21 points 13 boards four blocks Captain America prevails
05:23for the United States sensational throughout the entirety of the tournament averaging nearly 19
05:29points and 11 boards per game the MVP and the main reason the United States was able to win an
05:36eighth consecutive gold yeah six points at the break 15 in the second half which included a boat
05:42load of rebounds and certainly the physicality to get to the free throw line and make nine of
05:4612 free throws here she certainly was the catalyst down the stretch because even though not much was
05:50working and sometimes other players like you know it's just not my night here she kept pressing on
05:55here and had a big time second half which again was the catalyst for that victory six and oh in
05:59the olympics that's another gold medal as they go and congratulations team USA much like we expected
06:04heavy favorites getting it done that's something we'll talk about a lot like oh they're supposed
06:08to get it done which means all that pressure is always on your back and also being in Paris in
06:13France and playing France in the gold medal game and getting their best shot and still coming away
06:17with the victory that's always good to watch yeah listen that host nation bump was the real deal
06:22we'll talk about the men's gold medal match on Saturday afternoon in just a moment but quickly
06:28here a shout out to the most decorated U.S. female Olympian in basketball ever Diana Taurasi
06:34six gold medals the 42 year old vet her selection on the team a little bit controversial but it was
06:41to have that stellar moment another golden moment to win six gold medals in the same sport I believe
06:48most all time for an individual in the same sport at the olympic game so Diana Taurasi gets her sixth
06:56straight gold medal the Americans have won eight in a row a 61 game olympic winning streak that
07:04will follow the United States to Los Angeles in the 2028 summer games so you U.S. versus France
07:12in women's basketball the U.S. versus France in men's basketball another instant classic on
07:18Saturday we recap next live right here on the early line on this Monday looking back on the
07:23final weekend of the olympic games over in Paris and DRS what a scene it was on Saturday for the
07:31gold medal match between the United States and France in men's basketball one of the games that
07:38we will remember for a very long time including the semi-final dramatic comeback victory over
07:44Serbia the United States prevails 98 87 France as they did in the women's gold medal game covering
07:52as close to a 16 point underdog but it will be a game remembered for what Stephen Curry can do
07:58behind the three-point line eight triples and somehow some way making shots that should not
08:04have gone down over Victor Wembenyama and every single French defender 24 points for Steph the
08:12chef and his only olympic games goes home a gold medalist yeah it was a really good game and a fun
08:18game to watch and also coming off the heels of knocking off Serbia coming back you get the you
08:22know roundhouse punch from France they still are standing there at the end of the game only for
08:27Steph Curry to put on a mini olympic show all by himself when you knew every time he was trying to
08:34work open here running off of those picks and those screens we allowed the clutch and grab and
08:38knock him off and it's not like he's six seven six eight like LeBron James here 250 pounds he's a
08:43smaller guy but still able to get open and knock down three point shot after three point shot after
08:48three point shot monster shots this is what we love too because coming into the games did we expect
08:52the U.S. to win the gold medal absolutely but also sometimes you're just asking for the best players
08:56in the world to have a little bit of adversity they had that in the past two games and they
09:00showed up absolutely golden in that 98 87 game so much fun I don't think there's anybody on the
09:06planet that wasn't watching that game down the stretch knowing that you were watching greatness
09:11here and expecting Steph Curry to put the nail in the coffin for France and he did put them to
09:16sleep baby I loved watching it love to see you know what Ben it was really nice because everybody
09:22at that time frame in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday was able to watch and those record
09:26numbers were a bonanza and rightfully so so much fun to watch the best in the world at the highest
09:32level you got that out of the men's team 19 and a half million viewers to be exact making it the
09:39most watched gold medal game for the United States in men's basketball since 1996 and this game was
09:47close yes the Americans won by double digits sure the French covered as a 16 16 and a half point
09:54underdog a total of 174 and a half pregame does go over as the U.S. scores 98 but it was a one
10:01possession game under two and a half minutes remaining Victor Wimben Yama on the other side
10:0726 points for France and then Steph took over three threes in the final two minutes the dramatics for
10:15the Americans prevailing for a fifth consecutive goal but throughout the Olympic Games in each and
10:22every way despite getting dunked on by Guershon Yabusele who had himself quite an Olympiad for
10:28France scored 20 in the gold medal final against the United States LeBron James lay captain America
10:35the MVP of this team the MVP of the Olympic tournament in men's basketball 14 points 10
10:42dimes six boards in the final had a triple double against Serbia filled it up in each and every way
10:49you can see the numbers there more than 14 points per game eight and a half
10:53assists six close to seven rebounds in the Olympic tournament LeBron James doing what he had to do
11:01to carry the Americans to another gold medal make that five in a row for the United States
11:06in men's basketball he's 39 years old and is probably still like pound for pound the top
11:12three player in the world it doesn't even make sense at this point when you put him on display
11:17in the Olympics and also isn't he perfect for that like granted he gets a lot of foul calls in
11:21the NBA that's just the way it is but you're not going to foul him and get away with it he's just
11:24going to power through everything and for him to be the catalyst of this team all the way through
11:29by making sure that he was making those phone calls early on who's going to be with me in this
11:33France Olympics getting that superstar team around them and performing like the ultimate superstar in
11:38that game it was so much fun to watch all the way through LeBron James and again you have to remind
11:42he's not 29 he's 39 years old it looks like he just cracked into the NBA as an 18 year old he
11:48was phenomenal super athletic absolutely talented and led Team USA to that gold medal another gold
11:55medal for LeBron James make that four gold medals for Kevin Durant the most decorated
12:00men's basketball player for the United States the most that anybody has ever recorded 15 points for
12:06the easy money sniper and a couple of clutch free throws down the stretch as well we mentioned
12:12his name multiple times here in this breakdown but Steph Curry what a end to the Olympic games
12:19it was quiet really throughout group play into the quarterfinal against Brazil but 36 points
12:26against Serbia second most scored by an American male in Olympic action and 24 points in the gold
12:34medal game some final thoughts over in Paris up next on the early line for one final time we recap
12:41the Olympic games over in Paris live on this Monday morning on the early line on sports group
12:47we'll have some winners from the two weeks that was over in France a little bit later on in the
12:53show but after a gold medal in both men's and women's basketball a triumph over the host nation
12:59in France make that five straight for the United States in men's hoops eight in a row for Team USA
13:06in women's basketball the U.S. ends with 40 gold medals in total matching China for the most golds
13:14at the Olympic Games we fall under our number by a hook 40 and a half 34 and a half was the gold
13:23medal over under for the Chinese entering the Olympic Games the U.S. was a minus 550 favorite
13:30China had some plus money not sure what the dead heat rules are on the FanDuel sportsbook
13:35but the United States did run away in the overall medal count 126 35 more than China in total the
13:44United States was minus 2000 to have the most medals in all of the Olympic Games in Paris
13:50rightfully so we're supposed to dominate the summer games and we certainly did that here but
13:54you know what's interesting you see China and the United States both with 40 gold medals how about
13:58the fact that Team USA had 44 silver medals means how much closer they were to many more gold medals
14:04at that point here so maximizing the effort putting guys in that winning circle Team USA certainly did
14:09that and it was enjoyable all the way through we were rooting as it came down the stretch because
14:13you felt like Team USA still had two more pocket gold medals you know from basketball for men's
14:18and women's that maybe China wouldn't be able to stay ahead and catch them but valiant effort by
14:22the Chinese they're getting 40 gold medals that's pretty impressive as well the 40 40 club right
14:27here should go out there for one more event to break that tie bss come on yeah well of course
14:33our tennis guy and producer Joe Frizzo Emma Navarro had a chance for the United States in
14:39tennis blew a match point against Quinn Win Jang who of course won a gold for China in women's
14:46tennis it all comes back to that apparently according to Joe Frizzo Rafael Nadal could have
14:50taken one from somebody maybe in a gold medal who knows he didn't do that that's for sure more
14:56around the Olympic Games a little bit later on in this show the final Olympic assessment from
15:02our time over in Paris here in the summer games of 2024 some winners from the event that was and
15:10frankly it was a wonderful two weeks over at the 33rd Olympiad it was so much fun to watch it was
15:17great for us in these viewing windows early in the morning into the afternoon hours and well done by
15:24everybody there across the pond over in France I truly enjoyed these Olympic Games Donnie and it's
15:30one of those things where in the last couple of years at least in the Tokyo Games that of course
15:35had to be postponed from the summer of 2020 to the summer of 2021 when there wasn't really a ton
15:41of fans that were able to attend and so many COVID regulations that didn't make it have the grandeur
15:47and the glamour that we normally associate with the significant event that is the Olympic Games
15:54it was nice to get that back here in 2024. No it certainly was and you know from a perspective
15:59we're typically like it to be in your own time zone right so you're watching in prime time but
16:04I love the fact that we were in a time zone that you could watch from the morning to the mid
16:08afternoon and then if you needed to get that recap at night NBC put on the best of what was happening
16:13during the day where you get to kill it up even if you knew who won that race or who threw the
16:17javelin the farthest or that basketball game you still got to watch and it was almost like the
16:21perfect storm here for television in the United States and in this digital age like that we're
16:25not in like the 1980s anymore right it was like hey I'll take delay this or you can only put you
16:29have one channel it's going to show one event at this point everybody has a smartphone in their
16:33hand you press one button you can watch wherever you want at any time of the day so people oh I
16:38have a uh you know I'm working during the day are you kidding me like I worked in a cubicle in you
16:42know the mid to early 2000s there's TVs all over the place and you still had phones now obviously
16:47not up to the standards they are today but you could watch at any time throughout the day so
16:51the viewing advantages with this Olympics may be the best we've ever seen with how many digital
16:57outlets there were and the times where these games were played and during these summer months
17:02I mean you don't really have to work that hard anyway go pop up your co-workers and go watch in
17:06the break room for five minutes to see some of these events and the event finals heck the 100
17:12meter sprint that technically was last Sunday only takes 9.8 seconds anyway even less than that so we
17:21start with some winners from the past two weeks over in the Olympic Games DRS who tops your list
17:27at number one by the way good point that you just brought up there too because last Saturday is on
17:31the beach and I just popped on my phone to watch Shikari Richardson run her 100 meters so you could
17:35watch it anywhere you wanted at any time which then leads me right into Noah Lyles like if we
17:41are the Americans this is what I want to take advantage of here for us I say what's going to
17:45happen in the gold medals there's a couple events I absolutely have to watch you're going to be
17:50tuning into because the fastest man in the world is not the 4x100 it's not the 200 it's the 100
17:57that's what you want to watch you want to see those guys to see who finishes in under 10 seconds
18:02to see who can set a world record we had so much fun watching Usain Bolt over the last couple years
18:06and he was from Jamaica there wasn't even a United States guy but when the United States guy comes
18:10into it and is talking all that smack you owe it to him and your country to watch them perform
18:15now understand he got COVID didn't win the 200 which was his best event but if you can come out
18:19of the Olympics and they say you are the fastest man that means you won the 100 so Noah Lyles for
18:24me gets number one because that is what you can stand on forget about the world championships
18:28when you are the Olympic gold medalist you have four years to tell people you are the fastest
18:33man on this planet come get me in 2028. It is one of the coolest titles I think in all of sports the
18:40fastest man or fastest woman on planet earth there's a lot of championships there's a lot of
18:46trophies that you can claim and Noah Lyles has some issues with some wording for titles as well
18:52just ask him his thought about the NBA championship but there is no doubting what the fastest man in
18:58the world means in by a nose literally maybe the best lean of all time in the Olympic games
19:06Noah Lyles a gold medal winner in the final of the 100 meter for the men in the closest finish
19:13we have ever seen five thousandths of a second you're right DRS sure he was unable to bring home
19:21the double winning a gold but taking home a bronze in the 200 meter which is actually his best event
19:28and then wasn't there in the four by 100 meter relay for the American men in which they did not
19:35qualify or they dequeued because of an issue with the baton pass we are spooked in that event
19:41it led to Carl Lewis a great American Olympian yelling that things need to change in the United
19:46States track and field maybe it happens in front of the 2028 Olympic games all right DRS that was
19:53your first winner winner number two on your list is who and by the way real quick I'm gonna get to
19:58my winner number two but passing the baton like how hard is that that's not hard at all I don't
20:02like I think I could get like a bunch of fifth graders out there to run the four by 100 and
20:06easily pass the baton and you can say like oh that's a once out of every 30 Olympics we drop
20:11the baton I think Team USA drops it every single Olympic since like 1980 it's unbelievable to watch
20:17it play out but my number two here by far Steph Curry when you want to watch basketball and you
20:21expect a team of that caliber to play it's interesting to see who's going to be those alpha
20:25dogs and certainly guys that can perform on the biggest stage we've all been look if you play high
20:29school football if you play college football or whoever pro football if you're watching at this
20:34point performing on the biggest stage and just performing are two different things like man I
20:38make that shot all the time in my open gym runs here oh when I was you know just playing in a
20:42pre-season basketball game I could hit that three-point shot easy to do it with the game
20:47and the nation in the nation's building like let's just say France at the home court advantage
20:51you're far away from home and dropping three-pointer after three-pointer after three-pointer
20:56every time you shoot that dagger you let that home crowd know you are here you're not playing
21:01don't mess with me on this court and then go down the court and do it again and put the home
21:06nation to sleep it's so much fun watching superstars at the height of their game doing
21:11what they do best in the biggest moments nothing beats that and Steph Curry's final flurry at the
21:17end of that game basically saying you know I'm shooting the basketball you're gonna run double
21:20teams at me you're basically going to tackle me it doesn't matter I don't even need to get looks at
21:25the rim I'll just launch this thing up with a high rainbow arc and splash down triple after triple
21:31I loved what I watched from Steph Curry and just the enjoyment from him getting his first gold
21:34medal knowing that's going to be the only time he has a chance to get a gold medal and performs in
21:38the biggest moments in those final two games unbelievable stuff out of Steph Curry certainly
21:43valid for being a winner of the Olympics for me. The 36-year-old Stephen Curry in his first and
21:49more than likely only Olympic Games goes home a gold medal champion bringing the United States
21:57to a fifth consecutive gold Steph made four threes in the final two minutes in 45 seconds
22:05Victor Wiminyama had a shot that made it a one possession game 82-79 France down by only a single
22:12possession under three minutes and then the Steph and the chef really started to cook the final one
22:18he made with just over half a minute remaining in a double team dribbling between his legs and then
22:23just hoisting one up I almost passed out on my couch my body went limp I could hardly understand
22:30how that play was accomplished and we were waiting for Steph to look like the chef throughout the
22:37Olympics first four games 11 points in the opener of group play against Serbia that was his high
22:44only three against South Sudan only eight to end out group play against Puerto Rico
22:49seven in the quarterfinal blowout over Brazil and then 36 points in the dramatic comeback against
22:55Serbia a game that everybody will remember for the United States in basketball the second most
23:01points scored by an American man in an Olympic basketball game only one point behind Carmelo
23:07Anthony and then a team high 24 points in eight made threes in the gold medal game on Saturday
23:15your final winner DRS to round out this list of three city of Paris I thought it was spectacular
23:21all the way through the venues were great and even outside of the competition of the sports
23:26themselves like you're playing beach volleyball like in the shadows of you know unbelievable
23:32buildings and just you know the whole camaraderie of the games here from start to finish I thought
23:36were tremendous I don't think the only thing outside of it I could say like you know you
23:40might have had some bad weather from time to time running some of those Olympic you know sprints
23:44there in the rain it is what it is and you're gonna have to put up with that but I thought by
23:48and large just watching things all the way through from the Eiffel Tower in the background
23:51so again the landscape the architecture and also the broadcasting I thought was fantastic
23:56from the city itself I thought Paris showed really well and also from a USA perspective for me
24:01the time zone was absolutely phenomenal I might have had a different advantage Paris was located
24:05let's just say in China and you could have different time zone maybe it wasn't as good I
24:08just thought it was fantastic all the way through from Paris it certainly was some more winners in
24:14this final Olympic assessment up next on the early on live right here on this Monday on the early
24:21line on sports grid following the closing day and the closing ceremonies of the 2024 Olympic games
24:27yesterday in Paris Donnie gave you a couple of his winners from the two-week stretch that was
24:33the 33rd Olympiad now a few of mine number one leading off my list that's Katie Ledecky DRS
24:40nine gold medals the most we have ever seen out of a female swimming athlete in Olympic history
24:47and the most decorated American individual female athlete ever dominance to me is something that is
24:54so cool to watch at the highest level of sport the 1500 meter when she won by nearly 10 seconds in
25:02the broadcast has to go to the all 22 just so you can kind of categorize how dominant an athlete is
25:09that is Katie Ledecky 14 overall Olympic medals again the most decorated female American Olympian
25:16in the history of the Olympic games nine gold medals to boot dominance once again with an
25:23Olympic record in the 1500 meter where she holds all 20 of the fastest times ever and nine gold
25:31medals capped off by a gold medal in the 800 meter free to finish it off as well Katie Ledecky
25:38my number one winner I love the action in swimming I actually kind of prefer the pool to what we see
25:44in the first week then to track and field in the second week that could be slightly controversial
25:49but I love swimming action and Katie Ledecky one of the all-time greats hey here's the question
25:54though I assume like she's 27 years old which again is like late prime I would say and the
26:00Olympics aren't every year so she will be in her early 30s did she say she's coming back for more
26:05action in the pool here at this point because if you're that dominant yeah so we're getting the
26:10Joe it frees on the background telling us yes on that which makes some sense it's not as if you're
26:14like hey 27 I finally got my first bronze medal after three games and that's going to be good
26:18enough you're talking about one of the best to ever do in the pool so usually like a LeBron James
26:22at 39 years old still able to excel in the Olympics I assume on your home surface or on
26:27your home turf I should say out in Los Angeles coming up there she should be there that because
26:31the question for me was where do you go Ben as a swimmer once you retire I can't imagine like
26:38you're like hey let me just get in the pool for some laps every day because I love it like it's
26:41got to be so excruciating like just from a from a you know I don't know if I was a world-class
26:45talent like Katie Ledecky I don't want to sell myself too much but the minute I ended football
26:49I never did another leg day in my life because nobody enjoys doing so hey let me just work on
26:53some squats here on the weekend if I wasn't getting out of it athletically there's no way
26:57I'm doing it so I wonder what a swimmer does to retire like Michael Phelps he doesn't get in the
27:01pool and just hit up some laps does he I would never get in the pool again at that point I'd be
27:04disgusted by the pool I yeah too much chlorine for me I think Michael Phelps just plays a lot
27:10of golf right now and has some fun on the NBC broadcast but Kayla Decky is far away from doing
27:16that is she going to maybe qualify for all the relays or whatnot for Team USA in 2028 perhaps not
27:24but at least in the 800 meter where she owns the 10 fastest recorded times ever and in the 1500
27:30meter where she owns the 20 fastest recorded times ever you would still think there's a large gap
27:36between Ledecky even at 31 years old and everybody else in the world 14 Olympic medals the most for
27:44a female swimmer in the history of the Olympic Games nine gold medals it also ties the most
27:50ever in terms of gold medal victories for any female Olympian the most in the United States
27:57in its Olympic history and Simone Biles is up there as well seven gold medals to bounce back
28:04from the disappointment that was the Tokyo Games three summers ago dealing with the twisties with
28:10some mental health issues that she was very open and transparent about which is not something you
28:16normally see from the highest level of athletics or in gymnastics and Simone Biles at the age of 27
28:24becoming the oldest Olympic gymnast to win a medal was crazy in its own right leads the Americans
28:32back atop the medal podium after the disappointing silver medal finish in 2021 in the team all-around
28:38final she wins a gold medal as well her seventh in the individual all-around Simone Biles one of
28:45the most dominant athletes we have seen in our lifetimes back atop the medal podium where she
28:51belongs and by the way we just talked about Kayla Ledecky 27 years old she did turn 27 in March you
28:57know who's 27 years old with a birthday in March that's Simone Biles and also it's not added
29:01pressure but if when you are an Olympic you know participant where would you like to perform the
29:06Olympics in your home country to get all of that support so something on Simone Biles moving forward
29:11is already the most decorated that we've ever seen in U.S. history can really cap it off by coming
29:16back in her 30s and performing with the possibility of winning a gold medal in Los Angeles that'll be
29:21something to watch and also the pressure from some of these athletes who probably were going to hang
29:25it up saying you know what let me get one more run at this thing on U.S. land but Simone Biles is
29:30unbelievable there's one thing that we watch like Kayla Ledecky when she swims in a pool you expect
29:34dominance but you don't really get to see it because you're just far ahead in a race when you
29:38see Simone Biles going up against the other ladies in the Olympics it's clear that she is
29:43such a physical specimen out there doing unbelievable routines that nobody else can do
29:48it's like Ben like Kayla Ledecky in the pool runs away with let's just say some of the long
29:52distance swimming but there's no events that say like look she's the only one in this event because
29:55she's the only one that can swim this far Simone Biles literally has stuff that she can do that
29:59nobody else in the world can actually do that's unbelievable to watch and certainly coming back
30:04that bounce back performance in Paris spectacular out of Biles moves that are literally named the
30:10Biles because she's the only person ever even attempted it is insane 26 gold medals by the way
30:18won by the female athletes of team USA the most ever won by female athletes of any nation
30:25in the Olympic Games in its history I don't know if you saw this by the way Jordan Childs who earned
30:31a bronze medal in her four exercise final the highest court of athletics for gymnastics is
30:40trying to revoke that medal and have Childs return it because of a challenge made by the American
30:46head coach in not enough time during the Olympic floor routine we're fighting back with some
30:52litigation as well to keep the bronze for Jordan Childs my final winner is us why us
31:00because not only did we get to enjoy the incredible action in the Olympic Games it works as a great
31:08great thing in these summer months the RS leading into football we've got college football next
31:14weekend we've got the NFL two weekends after that I don't know if you thought that was U.S. but no
31:20it's just us not the United States I mean come on man show some pride for your country here Ben
31:24what's the deal here says U.S. that's us us U.S. here the U.S. was the big winner here but I think
31:31we are the biggest winner with football coming up on the horizon so yes I can agree yes we certainly
31:37can we'll look at the summer games in 2028 next just four years away from the summer games of
31:43the Olympiad it will be the 34th Olympiad in history back on United States turf in Los Angeles
31:51L.A. 2028 L.A.'s mayor was there yesterday at the Paris closing ceremonies Karen Bass waving
31:58the Olympic flag the R.S. were four years away what are you excited for here as we get ready
32:03for the summer games look just that it's on U.S. soil I mean it's a great city in Los Angeles
32:08they'll be ready for it the pageantry will be there all the superstars will be ready to go and
32:12if you want to say that Team USA had a very good Paris Olympics wait until the home team gets on
32:17their home turf and really gets that home crew it's surge where everybody is cheering for Team
32:23USA at every single event as the dominant fan base that's what I'm looking forward to here
32:28but I also want to see the shame that's going to be when is those prime time activities going to
32:32take place because granted it's going to be mostly prime time in the city you're in which means a
32:36little bit later for the east coast but also you have to understand some of these events also need
32:40to project worldwide as well it'll be interesting because I said Paris was a huge win not because
32:45the city is beautiful but because of the time frame that we were watching so you got that double
32:50scoop let me watch during the day let me round about at night I don't want to just be like hey
32:53I got to watch the 100 men's final at 9 30 at night on a Thursday or whatever will be that
32:59would be ridiculous yeah no no I don't think we're gonna go pacific time prime time hours I would
33:05think they kind of cater to the east coast and probably start a little bit earlier out there
33:10in LA speaking of starting earlier opening ceremony July 14th that's like two weeks in front
33:17of what we saw this time around in Paris closing ceremony that's about two weeks prior July 30th
33:232028 I do as well right that's the end of the closing ceremony focus fully on football I don't
33:30mind it whatsoever speaking of football is this the reason why flag football one of the new sports
33:37in the summer games of 2028 do you think we will see NFL players represent team USA in flag football
33:46at the olympic games the top shelf players absolutely not absolutely not you can't have it
33:53that close to the season where let's just say and again there's ways to get around it like hey July
33:5714th is the opening ceremony July 15th they're going to start but is anybody going to want their
34:02quarterback their wide receiver like I understand like Tyreek Hill he'll be four years older he
34:06wants to play that we hear about it but can you imagine a superstar football player hurting a
34:10hamstring and missing the first month and a half of the season because he wanted to play flag
34:15football at the olympics same thing with major league baseball we can bring up too because
34:19that opening ceremony look at it as July the 14th that's fantastic that should be right around the
34:23time we have the all-star game at this point now is the all-star game going to play the same week
34:27as the olympics are they going to push that upper back and also hear me out on this we don't need
34:31major league baseball players in the in the olympics we just don't are you really going to
34:35shut down the season also are we going to open up the season in February and close it November 28th
34:40as opposed to November the 4th baseball should not be in the olympics excuse me baseball should
34:44be in olympics I preface that but the amateurs and college kids should be the ones doing that
34:48I don't see professional athletes at all in major league baseball during the season in the olympics
34:52you've got to be kidding me there yeah I don't know exactly how that will work based on its
34:58structure but I would not expect to see MLB players in baseball in 2028 out in LA softball
35:06will be housed in Oklahoma City the home of softball in this country that should be electric
35:13squash makes its way like what is the reasoning for that like if you were an electric atmosphere
35:22no if I was in the olympics I want to be centered exactly where the olympics are actually being
35:27played I agree with that I want to go to all like this again softball might be great in Nebraska at
35:33this point but if we're saying to ourselves like the kids that are playing and the athletes that
35:37are playing on softball they don't get to enjoy the olympics at all like what the that's the part
35:41of the spirit of the olympics is being in the village and being able to partake you're going
35:45to remove them what are they going to take private jets after the game to fly in and watch basketball
35:49stop it no way I I don't know it's a good point that you bring up but Devon Park has been the home
35:55of the women's they don't have a big enough is that true you're telling me Los Angeles I mean
36:01what are they a high school yeah a high school field can fit that up who's going to that yeah
36:06that's way too many you're gonna have to take 1500 seats out of there put the tarps on it
36:10for softball the olympics couldn't they build that though in the next four years
36:14anyway that's uh whatever lacrosse is back in the olympic games as well Donnie it seemed as
36:21though breaking at the olympics was short-lived by the way and I look I'm just trying to catch up
36:28on breaking because you know I was excited about it we get off the air Friday watch a little bit
36:32of it I was pretty intrigued and then I'm finding out that people that were in the olympics and
36:37breaking should not have been there recorded zero points or being questioned here I'm wondering why
36:42it's going away because U.S. that should be breaking headquarters so I am sort of concerned
36:48that it's going away and why I was only in one time in France that shouldn't happen
36:53Australia's ray gun ruined it for everybody our number three of the early line
