00:05Christian Lewis, 34, is due to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court today after he was arrested
00:10over the weekend following a police appeal. A judge has hit out a delay of more than three
00:16and a half years in bringing a case to court. Judge Ian Unsworth made the statement after
00:21jailing 26-year-old Declan Carroll for his part in a brawl at Preston train station.
00:26He revealed that because the attack happened in January 2021 and Carroll had since been
00:31jailed for four years for another violent offence in March 2022, he would have to impose
00:36a lesser overall prison term than the case merited.
00:40Another two people have been charged following rioting in Blackpool last week.
00:44Ethan Miles, 21, of Haig Road, Blackpool has been charged with violent disorder and remanded

00:58There is sadness as another traditional business is closing in Wigan. D&M Brogan Butchers,
01:05which has been a mainstay of Bryn for decades, has been put up for sale. A sign on the front
01:10window of the Wigan Road shop informs customers that, due to retirement, the property and
01:14business is on the market. Police closed the M6 between Junctions 34 and 35 Lancaster and
01:22Cornforth during the night due to a road traffic collision. Three fire engines from
01:27Markham, Cornforth and Bolton-le-Sands attended a road traffic collision on M6 Southbound
01:32Junctions 35 to 34 on August 12th. Fire crews cut one casualty from a vehicle using a saw
01:39and they were handed over to the North West Ambulance Service.
