00:00The new offensive coordinator for Jared Mayo's staff with the New England Patriots.
00:08This is the staff that is taking over from Bill Belichick after 20 years and whatever
00:12it was, eight or nine Super Bowl appearances and six championships.
00:16This is the whole new staff.
00:18My college roommate, Alex Van Pelt, is now the offensive coordinator of that football
00:22team.
00:23This is really the first time in his career where he's being handed the offense.
00:28It's your offense.
00:29You run with it.
00:30I'm a defensive coach.
00:31It's my first time as an NFL head coach.
00:33You run with the offense, all your experience, etc.
00:36And by the way, the general manager of the Patriots worked with my boy Alex when they
00:40were together up in Green Bay.
00:42So there's a lot to that staff and a lot of history with those guys, and that's how they
00:46put that thing together.
00:47So he was getting a lot of hype before the game on the NFL Network.
00:52Game starts, and I didn't catch the first, I kind of missed a little bit of the beginning,
00:58but Drake May started the game, right, Browner?
01:01Drake May, the first round draft chaser out of North Carolina, he started the game.
01:04Yes.
01:05And he was out of that game, yeah, he didn't play much at all, right?
01:11No.
01:12He did, he had the first series, he got a first down on the screen pass, and then threw
01:19another little short pass to the back, and that was roughly it for him.
01:22He was two for three.
01:24Yeah, I didn't see much of his performance.
01:26I just knew that he was out of the game pretty soon, and it didn't look like the Patriots
01:30offense or the Panthers offense was doing anything for quite a while.
01:34So it didn't look impressive, but what happened is, is after Drake May left the game, then
01:41the kid, I'm trying to give his first name, but his last name is Zappi.
01:45He's the kid from Western Kentucky, Bailey Zappi.
01:48He's the dude that was at Western Kentucky that had like one of those college offenses
01:53where you throw for like 7,000 yards in a season, and I'm exaggerating, but he whipped
01:58the ball all over the place, and he played a lot last year for the Patriots because they
02:02had so many other quarterback problems.
02:05So he kind of looked good, he looked comfortable, Zappi, made plays out of the pocket, just
02:11found ways to get the ball to the receivers, et cetera.
02:15Then the Patriots came back with a guy who is the kid who I want to say was a fourth
02:20or fifth round draft choice this year out of Tennessee.
02:25What's the kid's name?
02:27Joe Milton III.
02:29Joe Milton III.
02:30Now here's the thing on Joe Milton III.
02:32He started his college career- Six round pick, by the way.
02:35Six round pick.
02:37Six round.
02:38He started his career at Michigan, he transferred to Tennessee, and he was a late round draft
02:42choice this year.
02:43Okay, overreaction Friday from an NFL preseason game?
02:49That guy right there, Joe Milton III, to me, he's your eventual starting quarterback.
