Daniel Wales and Lee Sobot give their predictions for the new Championship season.
Transcript
00:00I mean, I don't know how you see it in terms of next season.
00:06I mean, you know, you do these and obviously for other teams as well.
00:09I mean, how are you seeing the Championship?
00:10Would you sort of fancy them at this stage?
00:12I mean, given how they performed for the majority of last season,
00:16you'd have to, wouldn't you?
00:17Because they were a really good side to watch.
00:20They actually, you know, they beat the two teams who went automatically,
00:24you know, home and away in Leicester and Ipswich.
00:28At times, you could argue they were the best side in the league.
00:30But then, of course, you know, they had that sort of rut at the end
00:33where it all went just a little bit wrong for Leeds.
00:35And they had that, yes, they had that one game where it looked good again
00:38in the semi-final playoff game against Norwich.
00:41But it just dropped off a bit of a cliff towards the end, right at the wrong time.
00:45But looking at it now, if they are to hold on to their key men
00:50and strengthen in the way they have been doing, yeah, you have to fancy them.
00:53I mean, I think they are currently favourites alongside Burnley
00:57to go up automatically.
00:59Then you've got the likes of Luton Town.
01:00I'd watch out for Middlesbrough as well.
01:03I think they're a good outfit under Michael Carrick.
01:06Yeah, certainly a side who finished last season very strongly.
01:09A bit of a bad start.
01:10And to be honest, if they hadn't had that bad start to the season,
01:12they would have been right up there as well.
01:14Yeah. And then you've got to wonder how the likes of Coventry do as well.
01:18How will Sunderland perform under their new manager Regis Lebrie.
01:21So there's a lot of teams who could potentially challenge,
01:25but you'd have to imagine it's Burnley and Leeds fighting
01:29for those top two with maybe Luton in there as well.
01:33I think so. It's an interesting point on Sunderland is Gabriel Sutton,
01:37who does a lot of EFL punditry work.
01:39He does like a sort of predicted final table each summer.
01:42He did one last summer,
01:44you know, and we do an article on that, which will be on our website.
01:47And he's put Sunderland first, which I thought you might find interesting
01:50because I know that I think the 33 to 1, you know, they're certainly not like,
01:54you know, I think that's the best price they are.
01:56They're certainly not seen as one of the main contenders.
01:58And I do wonder, I'm not saying Sunderland, but I could see why.
02:01I mean, you've got talented players, that's for sure.
02:04And I just wonder whether there'll be a surprise package emerging, you know,
02:07like everybody's sort of talking about the obvious ones there as you've run through.
02:10I just wonder, like, if there will be a surprise package.
02:12There usually is. Ipswich were that last season, weren't they?
02:15But I think in terms of like the one, the obvious ones at the forefront
02:19of the market, I think Leeds, you know, they are strong favourites,
02:227 to 2 and like 8 to 1 bar with Burnley.
02:25And I think they deserve to be favourites.
02:26And, you know, I think you summarise it pretty well.
02:29I think we probably should justify that position as favourites, really.
02:32I'd still fancy Leeds.
02:34I'd fancy Burnley.
02:35And I'd fancy Middlesbrough as well under Michael Carrick.
02:39So you go, are you going to, if you go, you're going to go Leeds,
02:41then you're going to go Leeds, Burnley, then.
02:42Well, let's just do the top two.
02:43You're going to go Leeds and Burnley.
02:44I think at the minute, I'd say Leeds to win it.
02:48Burnley second.
02:49I'd put a cheeky bet on on Middlesbrough to come third, top of the play-offs.
02:55Yeah, I could see that.
02:56I'll go with Leeds. I don't see why not.
