West Brom team news vs QPR with Lewis Cox
Transcript
00:00Carlos Corbijn has just concluded his first pre-match press conference of the new season.
00:06Very nice to be saying that ahead of Albion's lunchtime trip to QPR as the Championship
00:10curtain raise at tomorrow. Glad to be back. Not sure if Carlos Corbijn's glad to be fielding
00:16questions from us numerous times a week, but here we are. Good to speak to him on a variety
00:21of subjects, obviously, as Albion prepare to go to the capital. It's been a long, long
00:26summer, but we've made it. Albion are in better nick than they were seven days ago,
00:31obviously. Two new recruits this week to go down to Loftus Road have obviously bolstered
00:35the squad, Gianluca Frabatta and Lewis Dobbin. Expecting both to be involved tomorrow, Carlos
00:40has just told us, so that's good news. Start quickly on the injury front. Jed Wallace,
00:45skipper, obviously we know he's out with a calf problem. Not too bad. The diagnosis is
00:51about two to three weeks, Carlos Corbijn has said there on the skipper. He's had a scan
00:55this week and got to be looking at about a couple of weeks before he can be considered
01:00to be coming back. Grady Dingarn has been out for a little while, hasn't he, during
01:03pre-season. He's actually joining in with the team today and sort of starting his pre-season
01:08today really, but that won't be a four, six, seven pre-season absence for Grady. He'll
01:15be back around it hopefully within a couple of weeks of that. Albion are going to manage
01:19him, obviously start using him in games when they can, but he returns to full training,
01:24which is a boost. Similar story for Paddy McNair, the summer loan defensive signing,
01:29he's had a little pain in the knee, so can start being back in full training today. Obviously
01:35like Dingarn, he won't feature tomorrow, neither will Wallace, but McNair hopefully just a
01:40couple of weeks away from adding that versatility to the squad as well. That aside, Devante
01:45Cole will feature tomorrow, probably as a substitute I would guess, but he wasn't involved
01:49against Blues last week, was he? And as I say, Frabatta and Dobbin, this week's new
01:53recruits, will be involved despite very minimal training with Albion this week. But look,
01:58they've got a couple more in and that's the most important thing. Carlos Corbijn's overall
02:02message was fascinating on a new reality for Albion with these financial situations they're
02:07in, these challenges they're in. It was cloying, tight-lipped on transfer business, but very
02:13clear that we're still in the market. Albion still very much need some players to complete
02:17their business this summer.
