The Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department raided an entertainment centre on Jalan Sultan Ismail in the wee hours of Friday (Aug 9) and detained 27 foreign nationals.

00:00The Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department detained 27 foreign nationals during an early morning
00:06raid on an entertainment outlet on Jalan Sultan Ismail.
00:11The foreigners were found in a super VIP karaoke room which charged a fee of 200,000 ringgit
00:17and other karaoke rooms offering an estimated price of between 10,000 ringgit and 16,000
00:24ringgit.
00:25The department's director, Wan Muhammad Saupi Wan Yusof, said the raid was conducted at
00:30about 2 a.m. on Friday and its personnel inspected a total of 50 individuals, including customers
00:37and employees of the nightclub.
00:39He said they acted on public complaints about suspicious activities at the premises.
00:44The detainees included nine women and 18 men, who are aged between 20 and 43.
00:50It is believed that the super VIP room was reserved for regular customers who are entertained
00:56by foreign women.
00:57The premises reportedly only offer membership to customers with a bank account balance of
01:02over 100,000 ringgit.
01:05A witness summons will be issued to the owner of the premises to appear at the Kuala Lumpur
01:10Immigration Enforcement Division.
