00:00The Department of Education is now evaluating the reports that the number of hours of work of some teachers in public schools is too much and plans to reduce it.

00:08Some teachers, including some parents, are supportive of the GMA Integrated News.

00:13And the first news is from Bea Pinlac.

00:17Some teachers in Navotas Elementary School can't avoid feeling tired because of their heavy work,

00:25which sometimes exceeds the maximum 6-hour teaching period.

00:29Our teachers are like fairies.

00:32But Teacher Candidado admitted that there are days when it's tiring,

00:37especially when we need to add hours of teaching to his students.

00:42We can't avoid having too much hours with the teachers.

00:48It's also affecting us.

00:50But of course, as a teacher, we should be flexible enough.

00:53We shouldn't show the kids that we're tired.

00:57Teacher Normalita, on the other hand, is looking for a service in the town if her teaching time is too much.

01:19We don't count the hours, as long as the learner can do it.

01:26According to Education Secretary Sunny Angara,

01:29the authorities are looking at the teachers who teach for more than 6 hours.

01:37Under the Magna Carta of Public School Teachers,

01:40the maximum teaching period of the teachers is only 6 hours per day.

01:44Some teacher groups have already calmed down because of the heavy workload for the teachers,

01:50as well as the implementation of a solid curriculum.

01:53Under the DepEd Order No. 5 passed by the former DepEd Chief, Vice President Sara Duterte,

01:59teachers are required to teach for 6 hours and 2 hours for teacher ancillary tasks.

02:07According to Mrs. Mary Ann and Father Marciano,

02:10the teachers' working hours were reduced

02:13because they are afraid that the quality of teaching will be affected to their children and grandchildren

02:18if the teachers are burned out.
