The opening of a 200mm silicon carbide power semiconductor fabrication facility in Kulim Hi-Tech Park on Thursday (Aug 8 ) is a huge milestone for Malaysia, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar said the new facility at Infineon Technologies will enhance Malaysia's global profile in attracting world-class investments.

03:41of the fab, with an investment volume of 2 billion euros or 9.7 billion ringgit, will

03:47focus on the production of silicon carbide power semiconductors. Jochen said the technology

03:53increases the energy efficient of ubiquitous applications such as electric cars, solar

03:59and wind power system and AI data centers, also creating up to 4,000 jobs.

04:06After the event, Anwar and his entourage went to Siltera Sendirian Berhad to attend Budget

04:132025 dialogue session with the electric and electronic industries players. On the dialogue

04:20session, Anwar said the government welcomed all input from the industrial players in effort

04:25to improve the sector.
