00:00What does it take to be the absolute greatest in the history of your event?
00:07Does it require multiple Olympic medals?
00:09Does it require a non-stop undefeated streak for close to a decade?
00:13Well how about this?
00:14What about breaking nine consecutive world records over the course of four straight years?
00:20Because this is exactly what Armand Duplantis has to his name, and at this year's Olympic
00:24Games, well, he did it again.
00:28After a breezy Olympic record clearance, he took the bar up to 6.25 meters, or for
00:34all you Americans out there, 20 feet and 6 inches, and he soared into the stratosphere
00:39and broke this world record.
00:41Obviously, this means that Armand Duplantis is in fact the gold medalist from this year's
00:45Olympic Games.
00:46But when we take a closer look at his resume, we're talking about potentially challenging
00:51the greatest pole vaulter of all time as the GOAT.
00:54This makes Duplantis a two-time Olympic champion, a two-time world champion, a two-time world
00:59indoor champion, a multiple-time Diamond League winner, and at 6.25 meters, this puts him
01:05a towering height over anyone else in history, as the second highest jumper of all time is
01:11Renan Lavallee from France, who jumped a height of 6.16 meters.
01:16But that was more than a decade ago, meaning that for the past ten years, Duplantis has
01:21been on another level, both literally and figuratively.
01:25Now when you look at the all-time list, Duplantis is truly GOATed.
01:29This is one of the highest records of all time, and it is one of the most unbelievable
01:32things that you will see.
01:34But after today, Duplantis now holds all of the top ten highest jumps in history, and
01:41I could be wrong, but I think this makes Duplantis the only athlete in any event to accomplish
01:46this feat on the senior level.
01:48From consistent world record improvements, to absolutely dominating the all-time list,
01:53to winning this year's Olympic Games by a ridiculous margin of 30 centimeters, we're
01:59talking about one of the biggest and most dominant wins of all time, and while Sergei
02:03Bubka has gone down in the record books as possibly the GOAT in the pole vault, given
02:07that he did break the world record more than 30 times, Duplantis just made a very strong
02:12case as the GOAT of the pole vault, and at 6.25 meters, this is some towering height.
02:18I mean, this is more than two basketball goals in height.
02:22Just think about how high this is.
02:24Now what made this world record even more incredible is the fact that he was actually
02:27somewhat injured going into this world record attempt, as his hand was slightly cut given
02:32his efforts in the opening rounds.
02:34But like the true legend that he is, like a man possessed, he went for the world record,
02:39and he absolutely smashed it.
02:41Now what's pretty remarkable about this world record is also the fact that he had
02:45a ton of height over this record, and a lot of people have kind of figured out why he
02:49improves on world records by just one centimeter, and to put it simply, it's that world record
02:54bonus baby.
02:55The more that you jump world records, the more money you get, the more exposure the
02:58sport gets, and ultimately the higher your profile does become.
03:01I really do believe that in our lifetime, we will see Duplantis jump 6.40 meters.
03:08Mark my words, that will happen one day.
03:12Thanks for watching everyone, and as always, until next time.
