Residents in flood-prone Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam, Selangor, can rest a little easier now that three new screw pumps have been put into place since Aug 2.

State infrastructure and agricultural committee chairman Izham Hashim said the RM7.4mil project, under the Taman Sri Muda irrigation system upgrading works, would be five times more efficient than the existing three pumps in preventing flooding.

02:00The old one has 4?
02:023
02:04There used to be 5
02:06The 2 are temporary
02:08So the old one is 3
02:10So the 3
02:12Total is around 1
02:141 cubic meter per
02:16or meter per second
02:18The new one is 3
02:20This one is bigger
02:22Is this the only one you have?
02:24Like I said
02:26many times in Dewan
02:28there are many floods
02:30I don't want to talk about it
02:32I just want to mention
02:34that we pay attention
02:36to the floods in Meru
02:38in Ispang
02:40in Tengkil
02:42We pay attention
02:44to Bukit Canggang
02:46All these places
02:48there are projects
02:50like Bangi Lama, Terbau Kajang
02:52There are projects related to long-term care
02:54and short-term care
02:56Many people ask
02:58why there are so many floods
03:00The project is just starting
03:02Can it be completed?
03:04It can be completed
03:06but in the short term
03:08we take steps to clean
03:10and install mobile pumps
03:12That's what we do
03:14But in the long term
03:16we have projects
03:18at the federal level
03:20and at the state level
03:22How many projects
03:24We have made a wish
03:26but we ask for it again
03:28because we feel that
03:30the project is very critical
03:32for the country of Selangor
03:34There are a lot of projects
03:36that have been completed
03:38Thank you
03:40The Damansara River
03:42400 million
03:44Taman Tinggi
03:46in Rasau River
03:48Many projects have been completed
03:50In Sepang
03:52But there are two places
03:54that we feel are critical
03:56The first is
03:58Langat 2 floodplain
04:00in Ulu Langat
04:02This is related to Kajang
04:04And the second is
04:06Bulo River floodplain
04:08The total of these two
04:10is 1.2 billion
04:12These two are very critical
04:14because these are projects
04:16related to a wide area
04:18When will the two projects be completed?
04:20Which one?
04:22The one in Ulu Langat
04:24If it is completed
04:26we will continue to do
04:28the reconstruction
04:30But the reconstruction
04:32is limited
04:34Usually the construction
04:36of Taman Tinggi
04:38will be done directly
04:40We can finish it in 5 years
04:42There is an area in Meru
04:44especially in Meru
04:46for the dams
04:48The dams in front of the main road
04:50are mostly owned by individuals
04:52That's not true
04:54Actually
04:56the Majlis Bandaraya
04:58Keraja Kelang is in the process of
05:00building the dam
05:02There are some
05:04But we are working with the landowners
05:06But that is not the main key
05:08Because
05:10we got 220 million
05:12for the small boat
05:14for the construction of the dam
05:16The reconstruction
05:18of the dam
05:20will be done
05:22by the contractor
05:24in the near future
05:26The reconstruction
05:28will help
05:30in the project
05:32and ongoing
