தமிழர்கள் அனைவரும் கலப்படமின்றி தமிழ் பேச கடப்பாடு கொண்டால் நம் தாய்மொழியான தமிழ்மொழி வாழுமா? வீழுமா? என்ற கேள்விக்கே இடமில்லாமல் போகும். தமிழ் உலக வரலாற்றில் அத்தகைய உணர்வு வெகு சிலருக்குதான் இருந்திருக்கிறது. அந்த வெகு சிலரில் ஒருவர் 'தனித்தமிழ் இயக்கம்' என்ற ஒரு மாபெரும் இயக்கத்தையே தொடங்கி தமிழுக்காக அரும்பங்காற்றியிருக்கிறார். தமிழ் உலகம் அவரை 'தமிழ்க்கடல்' என்றும், 'தனித்தமிழின் தந்தை' என்றும் போற்றுகிறது.நாம் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவிருக்கும் அந்த வரலாற்று மாந்தர் மறைமலை அடிகள்.

00:59If the sky is speaking in Tamil
01:02through a radio station called Oli 96.8,
01:05it won't be a big deal.
01:07It is the native Tamil language
01:09that uses the radio
01:11from other Tamil radio stations
01:13to the best of its ability.
01:15Oli is a big obstacle
01:17in creating programs
01:19that mix English and foreign languages.
01:22Similarly, if all Tamilians
01:24struggle to speak Tamil
01:27there will be no room
01:29for the question
01:31whether our language will live or fall.
01:33In the history of the Tamil world,
01:35only a few people have had
01:37such a feeling.
01:39One of those few people
01:41has started a large organization
01:43called Thani Thamizh Ekam
01:45and has contributed to Tamil.
01:47The Tamil world calls him
01:49Thamizh Kadal
01:51and Thani Thamizh Thandai.
01:53The name of the historian

02:25The people called him
02:27Swami Vedachalam.

02:31due to his pride
02:33in the Tamil language
02:35and his interest
02:37in Thani Tamil,
02:39he wanted to change
02:41his name Vedachalam
02:43to Thuyathamizh.
02:45The name Vedam and Asalam
02:47can be divided
02:49Swami is called
02:51Adigal in Tamil.
02:53The name Swami Vedachalam
02:55is Marai Malai Adigal.
02:57Marai Malai Adigal

03:07he learned English well.
03:09He learned the Tamil
03:11alphabet from Narayanasamy Pillai.
03:13Not only that,
03:15he also learned
03:17the Tamil alphabet

03:41of seven children
03:43by marrying
03:45a Tamil teacher.
03:47He praised the
03:49achievements of

03:53who was named
03:55in the Siva Siddhantam
03:57and wrote
03:59a lot of articles
04:01in that magazine.

04:05was a source
04:07of inspiration
04:09for the Nayakar
04:11who read
04:13his writings.
04:15He prepared himself
04:17for the Tamil teacher's
04:19writing competition.
04:21The winner of the
04:23competition was
04:25the famous
04:27Tamil poet

04:43he started a magazine
04:45called Gnanasagaram.
04:47He changed its name
04:49to Arivukadal
04:51in Azhagu Tamil.
04:53At that time,
04:55he started to
04:57dedicate his life
04:59for the promotion
05:01of the Tamil language
05:03which he was
05:05interested in.
05:07He started his
05:09own Tamil association
05:11to save the Tamil language
05:13and to write and speak
05:15in Tamil.
05:17He started to
05:19work as an example
05:21for that.
05:23Only then,
05:25he changed his name
05:27to Marai Malai Adigal.
05:29Many Tamilians
05:31named him
05:33as Thooya Tamizhal.
05:35He wrote in simple Tamil
05:37He used Thooya Tamil
05:39in a way that
05:41no one could understand
05:43without being
05:45a strict Tamizhal
05:47or a mixed Tamizhal.
05:49He translated
05:51the love poem
05:53called Sagunthalam
05:55written by Kalidas
05:57in Vettamuzhi
05:59in Tamil.
06:01He believed that
06:03mixing languages
06:05was necessary
06:07for the development
06:09of the Tamil language.
06:11He felt that
06:13learning English
06:15was necessary
06:17for the development

06:21as well as
06:23for the development
06:25of the Tamil language.

06:49for that Thooya Tamizhal.
06:51He breathed life into
06:53Tamizhal and
06:55wrote 56 books in his life.
06:57Even though he was
06:59devoted to God,
07:01there were two things
07:03he loved in his life.
07:05One was Tamizh,
07:07the other was his wife,
