00:00And this is going to be a tough season if you're a New England Patriots fan.

00:09Tom Brady gone a few years ago, Bill Belichick gone now.
00:13It appears as though, and again, George, we'll see, but appears as though that they're not
00:19necessarily tanking, because I don't know that any team is doing that in sports in general,
00:24but they are not putting the best players on the field possible to win games this season,
00:29or they would have done a lot more.
00:30They did nothing.
00:31In fact, to start the season at quarterback, Drake May, who certainly will get his opportunity,
00:37George, to start at some point, it appears as though it's not going to start the season.
00:42And that means that a backup of some kind is going to start.
00:46And here comes Jacoby Brissett to start the season for the New England Patriots.
00:51Again, nothing against Brissett, who has played in the league for, it feels like 15 years.

00:59You have to check that.
01:00He's bounced around the league quite a bit.
01:02But when you tell your fan base that this is who you're starting, what I think you're
01:07telling them is, put that seatbelt on a little tighter, because this is going to be a really
01:12tough year for you coming up.
01:14George, they had their pick of backup quarterbacks.
01:17And again, nothing against this player, but this is not a player that's going to throw
01:23for 350 yards and three touchdowns, I don't think, in any game this season.
01:26This is going to be just, get us through four quarters and let's go home.

01:33This is his ninth year in the league.
01:34He did start his career with New England before bouncing around several other teams here.
01:38Listen, he's that guy, you know he's replaceable, right?
01:42And then Drake May will replace him when they feel he's ready.
01:46When that question is, I mean, that's anyone's guess here.
01:49You're looking at their schedule, you know, you always look, oh, is there an early bye
01:52week?
01:53You know, is there an early bye week?
01:54It's sliding right there.
01:55There's not.
01:56The early bye week is week 14.
01:58That's in December.

02:01Other than that, I mean, I don't see May playing anywhere before October 6th.

02:08If they play with Jets at San Fran week three and four, you want to avoid those two defenses
02:12and you can get them there against Stockton.
02:13It was just against Miami, a theoretically weaker defense, Miami, Houston, Jacksonville.
02:17So for the New England Patriots, we know they're not going to be a good team.

02:22That graphic we showed earlier, where they plus 2500 to win with division, then you can
02:25put a plus 25 million.
02:26They're not winning with division.

02:28And there's nothing wrong with that, by the way.
02:29It's of my belief, Craig, that you need to be one of two things in all sports, not just
02:34the NFL, major league baseball, NHL, NBA as well.
02:37You either need to be competing for a trophy or you need to suck.

02:40Because you need to get those low draft picks.
02:42Being a middling team does you no good, you know, where to be, you know, around a seven
02:47win team, seven to 10, eight, nine.
02:49You don't make the playoffs and you don't get those top picks.
02:51So the fact that they're going to be terrible this year, I don't think it's a bad thing.
02:54I don't, you know, and you, you get those complimentary pieces around me.
02:58This season is all about developing me to make sure he's going to be your franchise
03:01quarterback for the next 10, 15, whatever years it might be here.
03:05So that's all that matters here.
03:06Now, granted, I think it's going to be a slow start, Greg.
03:09There's not much around him here outside of Stevenson, who was a solid running back.
03:14There's no one receiving to speak of here.
03:16There's no really, I mean, I like Hunter Henry, but you know, when I talk to anyway, near
03:20Travis Kelsey or Laporta type here, it's really going to move this offense.
03:24This team is a work in progress.

03:28And they drafted Keyshawn Boutte and he's not going to be suspended.
03:31It looks like for things that happened previous to this season at LSU.
03:35So maybe the Patriots ended up getting a little bit more out of a player that they didn't
03:39think that would be a player at least to watch this season.

03:43I think Kendrick Bourne is another, you know, potential wide receiver there.
03:47You mentioned Stevenson, but the Patriots, George, are going to be one of those teams
03:51where I think you're going to go through 10 rounds of your fantasy football draft and
03:57not a single Patriots going to get taken offensively.
03:59Oh, I think Stevenson will go early on that.

04:04I have as a running back too, you know, and there's just not many running backs to go
04:07around here.
04:08So I think he'll, he'll go after that.
04:12I mean, if we're talking about straight league, we're not talking about a super flex league

04:16I don't know when anybody else goes here.
04:18I don't want much to do with anybody else.
04:19I'm trying to figure out anybody else I can figure out here.
04:21I mean, Bourne, Douglas, Polk, Osborne, Shuster, those are your wide receivers.
04:28There's no reason to take anyone before round 10.

04:31Same thing with Hunter Heavy.
04:32I know tight end is not the deepest position in the world, but unless you're starting two
04:35of them, you're not looking at Hunter Heavy or Hooper before round 12, 13, 14.

04:41You know, it's a reason this team is where it is, right, that we don't expect big things
04:45from.
04:46There's a lot of work to do here.
04:48The defense is good.
04:49So that's another reason.
04:50I don't think they're going to take too many chances on offense because they're going to
04:52hope to play 17, 14 games where they, uh, the other team makes a mistake in the fourth
04:57quarter and they can capitalize off that.
