00:00the leader of the half shell heroes stays behind to hold the fort here's a
00:05look at the neck of toys Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the last Ronin's Leonardo
00:30from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comic series the last Ronin in a future
00:41New York City far different from the one we know today a lone surviving turtle
00:45goes on a seemingly hopeless mission to obtain justice for his fallen family and
00:49friends based on issue number three of the comic the Leonardo figure stands at
00:52seven inches in scale and over 30 points of articulation it includes two
00:56interchangeable head sculpts interchangeable hands katanas and five
00:59throwing knives that fit into the figures belt comes in a collector
01:02friendly window box packaging with open front flap featuring customized
01:06illustration by the last Ronin artist Ben Bishop well the master of the long
01:10blade gets ready for his last stand I'd like to thank the folks over neck of
01:14toys that were kind enough to provide the sample of the last Ronin Leonardo
01:17that we could have a look at this review if you're a new time viewer welcome if
01:20you're a regular viewer welcome back the tape measure is going to tell us that
01:24Leonardo stands about five and three-quarters of an inch in height or
01:27the leader of the heroes and a half shell stands at about fourteen and a
01:30half centimeters tall the territory that we've covered so far is obviously
01:34looking at the recent last Ronin Michelangelo to compare though the two
01:38it seems that Michelangelo is just a little bit shorter than Leonardo they
01:42are though shorter still from the original last Ronin figures and one
01:45correction I did want to make from both of them that I looked at from before I
01:48did see that Michelangelo is notably shorter anyone though those following
01:52the comics I completely forgot to mention this in the review as well is
01:55that it's obviously mentioned too in the last Ronin that Michelangelo suffers a
01:59secondary mutation causing a height difference between these ones and the
02:03shorter ones that we're looking at right now obviously I didn't mention that in
02:06the review though I'm mentioning it right now in the review of Leonardo as
02:09for accessories Leonardo comes in clue with an interchangeable head sculpt that
02:13currently isn't on his shoulders he comes also with a pair of katanas four
02:16pairs of interchangeable hands but just before we look at any of those looking
02:20at the smallest things and most likely to be lost the figure comes in clue with
02:23five little tiny throwing knives I'm saying five I think there were only five
02:28inside the packaging but they are loose after all in the moment you first take
02:31off that little plastic tray that goes over top of these you just want to make
02:34sure that any one of these don't fall outside the tray I think I counted though
02:37five they are can't they can be at least stored on the figures body if you look
02:42at Leonardo located on the sides of his belt he has loops right here so he has
02:46two on this side and he has one here and one at the back which only then
02:50leaves behind one that you can oh there's the other one right there so you
02:53get a total of five you can take the knives and you just slide them into the
02:56holsters provided again while you're doing this just making sure that you're
02:59not dropping these we'll just put two in for right now we'll put maybe one there
03:03and we'll put maybe one at the back just to get the idea across that there are
03:05storage spaces designated for those little throwing knives he does also as
03:09well come in clue with hands for holding these the actual hands themselves let's
03:14actually look at those comes with a pair of kind of gestured sparring hands
03:18we're gonna be swapping these hands out for a second I do like the way they
03:21panel line these now the colorings as you can see they've got the bandages
03:25wrapped around his fingers and thumb two fingers one thumb that's how it works
03:28for turtle and you can see all this additional very glorious looking panel
03:32lining that they've added all over our bandages and again across the fingers
03:35and even like the actual and fingernails they've outlined those nicely as well
03:39the figure also comes in clue with a pair of relaxed hands and why I don't
03:43necessarily say that these hands are suited for holding like the katanas if
03:46you try to take the katana or wakazashi sword and you try to fit it into his
03:49hands it's just way too loose even if you try to fit it this way I was thinking
03:53okay maybe I can fit it in between the fingers you can do it this way I don't
03:56think Leonardo ever really tends to hold the knife that way so you know if
04:00anything he does come with a pair of relaxed hands but he does come with the
04:03best suited hands for holding the knives these hands right here easily you can
04:07take the handles of the katanas and just slide them in between his two fingers
04:10and thumb you got that the way to hold the knife and it's not gonna be going
04:13anywhere at all the katanas if I could just remove this right now you can also
04:17take those smaller throwing knives and the throwing knives actually fit in
04:20between his fingers so if you want to have not that it would fit all that
04:24great in between his thumb and his pointer I mean I mean obviously you can
04:27see there's just way too much space there but you can actually very easily
04:30take the blade and fit it in between his two fingers so there's that way of
04:33storing them or displaying them at least as well the whole time I'm doing this
04:36you may have already noticed there's all this kind of paint flaking off of the
04:40blades all of these pegs by the way have hinges all the hinges seem to be
04:44covered in paint so when I am moving these around you probably can already
04:47see there's a fair bit of paint that flakes off if you want to go change the
04:50hands it's just a case of taking the hands that he has already which are a
04:54pair of closed fists just gonna remove them and take them completely off his
04:57forms and there again some paint came off and let's grab ourselves a hand for
05:02holding the katana so we're gonna pop in one hand and we'll actually do the
05:05exact same thing on the other side hey why not and there's more paints more
05:08paint has come off let's grab again the other hand we're just gonna plug that in
05:12place and now you have a storage place obviously for him to be sparring with
05:16swords a good plate a good way of displaying him with the katanas and
05:20again the katanas just fit inside his hands like that I want to make sure of
05:23course the blades are facing forward there we go you can have Leonardo
05:27displayed that way oh but wait there's more sound like an infomercial what you
05:32can also do too is you can take the provided katanas just remove them from
05:35his hands and located on the back of the figures body we'll spin this around
05:40you can see the top of his cloak now this back of his cloak is actually loose
05:44if you look though at the front it seems to be attached right here if you try to
05:49remove this you'll see right away it gets stuck right there so I'm thinking
05:53they've added a little bit of glue I don't want to pry this off if it is
05:56pegged in place it is pegged in place if it is glued in place though prying this
06:00off is only gonna damage the paint and I don't want that to happen so while it is
06:04loose on the back you can see that there's loops on the back to store the
06:07katanas but you're probably thinking right away well how you gonna store them
06:10with this being in the way ah look at the top here there's a slot right there
06:14and there's a slot right there it looks like the talking hat from Harry Potter
06:18it looks like he's squinting at you basically you just take the swords and
06:21you slide them in those slots and then when you line everything then up you can
06:26see that it also fits inside the loops that's pretty creative you can also do
06:30the exact same on the other side we'll again fit that right through you really
06:33don't even have to kind of lift everything up and kind of gauge where
06:36everything's going okay is that lining up is that lining up no they've actually
06:39I mean they put it right above it so I mean to take even just a sword and do
06:43this with your eyes closed I'm doing this with my eyes closed right now did I
06:45get in there watch I oh I did get it in okay so you can see if it's fairly easy
06:50I mean you don't even really have to struggle at all the last thing that
06:53Leonardo also comes included with let's just slide everything out of the way
06:56here is an interchangeable or alternate head sculpt now the head that he has
07:00right now is kind of more of a somber looking Leo just a very very split for
07:05his look for his mouth I mean he doesn't really have any real facial expression
07:08on his face very closed looking eyes very slitted looking eyes but again like
07:12with the portrait that he gets right now just immediately out of the packaging
07:15the head sculpt looks fantastic I don't know if I would say it's as good as
07:18Michelangelo's my Michelangelo I feel kind of set the bar pretty high but Leo's
07:22head sculpt is still pretty good the alternative though to that is that he
07:27also comes in clue with this portrait which is probably gonna be the same case
07:30as Michelangelo I'm gonna ultimately I think just remove the heads and display
07:33them with the alternatives because I think that was also something I did with
07:36Mikey we're just gonna remove the head from Leo I'm just gonna pop it off the
07:40provided post it's very easy actually remove and just do again drive home the
07:43idea that if you flip this forward sure they've finished this part that covers
07:47over his shell but it's clearly looks to be the case that they've glued the front
07:50of this so you can't actually take this off don't do it whatever you do what
07:54we'll do though instead is that we'll take the alternate portrait here for Leo
07:57we'll just snap it in place there we go and again like between the two even
08:02though I think for Leonardo this face sculpt works really well for this
08:05character very stoic very heroic I do like this head sculpt I think a little
08:09bit more I have though a little bit now can I remove it there's like a little
08:14flex of something right there get my finger in there it doesn't seem to be
08:19coming off perhaps it's paints perhaps it's plastic I just can't get off it's
08:22just like one little area right here that's bothering me it's driving me
08:25crazy other than that though it's a really good looking head sculpt for Leo
08:28panel lining everything from the teeth outlining the areas of his obviously his
08:32bandana and nice little wrinkled sections below his bandana and above
08:36where his eyes are as well it's a really nice looking head sculpt now again on the
08:41back of this too if you're looking at them the bandanas are seeming to be very
08:44similar with one another this is a little bit wider apart from it but it
08:47does look like they are separate pieces if you wanted to I suppose you probably
08:51could heat these up a little bit if you wanted to have a maybe a little bit more
08:54exaggerated than what they are right now out of the packaging the detail in
08:57the figure is fantastic again I keep saying fantastic but to bring back in
09:01though Michelangelo the thing first of all I like about between them is that
09:04like in the comic designs the comic suits are all very different from one
09:08another so Michelangelo's and Leonardo's look realistically like something a ninja
09:12turtle would be wearing in the distant future Michelangelo's and Leonardo's are
09:16very much different from one another even like the colors really of that like
09:19the leather or the tan that he has on his body it's kind of more of a darker
09:22brown here Michelangelo's would approach it more in oranges he also does
09:27have a bandolier strap here on the front some additional reds added in there as
09:30well just again love the use of the panel lining if I just move up his arm
09:34and get that out of the way you can see the expert craftsmanship that neck has
09:38put into the pieces now this is basically just an overlay suits so you
09:42could kind of see and hopefully I can show you guys in this review this is all
09:45like a separate piece that's been put over essentially a larger base body it's
09:49softer in plastic it's not removable though so don't try to take this off
09:52it's got all these nice little pockets there on the side some a little bit
09:55larger than others again there's the storage space for the daggers you want
09:58to kind of make sure that the knives are all the way in there as you're kind of
10:01moving the figure around you kind of feel and I've done this a couple of
10:04times you try to move the figure around you only ultimately kind of start to
10:07lift these you don't want to lose them whatever you do but again like some real
10:10nice attention to detail so nice uses of Brown's too so they're not all just kind
10:14of the dark chestnut brown you got some brown most of the darker brown makes up
10:17the majority of it but you can see like on the sides for example there's a lot
10:20lighter of a kind of brown straps and even like the pocket space as well those
10:24are all being done in a medium brown so there's a nice little breakup of Brown's
10:27there's not all just the same color got some nice additional white added there
10:31to his arms he's got of course the arm guards there as well he's also got that
10:34here also I'd like kind of covering over his knuckle section too but panel lines
10:39galore galore there's lots of time that they clearly spent to panel line this
10:43figure so it looks like he literally stepped off the pages of the last Ronin
10:46colors of the blue look really really good too it's not even really quite a
10:49blue it kind of more of as a kind of a grayish looking blue and again you've
10:53got some nice additional brown added in there as well like all in all just a
10:56really nice looking figure is he as though as good as Michelangelo like
11:00again I just feel like between the two maybe Michelangelo looks a little bit
11:03better I mean just from my own personal opinion at least but again like the
11:07figures look again so good so good on these some again some nice detailing
11:11that they've also added here for the shoulders but let's get down to the
11:13articulation on Leonardo if you're familiar with Michelangelo then you'll
11:16be familiar of course with the articulation on this guy as well
11:19Michelangelo and Leonardo both have what seemed to be dumbbell ball joints
11:23there's a ball joint essentially what I mean by that it attaches to the head and
11:26then there's a post at the bottom of the post there's a secondary ball joint that
11:31sits inside the cavity of the neck between the two you can actually get
11:34quite a lot a lot of range for a figure that really for considering the fact
11:38he's got this area that covers over the front of his face you can still get a lot
11:41of mileage getting for Leonardo's articulation for his head you can even
11:45have a head looking low like this like look like look like Leonardo's kind of
11:48in a I don't know depressing stance but again like the head looks up the head
11:52looks down you can move it back and forth and yeah you can rotate it all the
11:55way around for the upper torso the upper torso despite being encased with all the
12:00soft rubbery plastic still manages to pull off full rotation just though as
12:04you're doing it just be careful that you don't lift these knives has this one
12:07moved at all I feel like it has just you know what let's just remove these all
12:10together I know when I'm gonna be getting down to the legs I don't want to
12:13bang these by accident and have them end up on the floor and I forget how many
12:16I'm supposed to have I think it's supposed to be five I think supposed to
12:19be five but again he has waist swivel there's again that bulge right at the
12:23top of the torso you can split the legs now the only thing that he has though
12:26Leonardo in the comic would have also had this guard area here this does
12:29prevent it causes a little bit of problems I mean obviously this side you
12:32can do a lot more of a splits this side though as you're bending and you can
12:36really feel there's a lot of stress and I mean obviously if you're bending it
12:39too much it's only gonna bend so far before the tolerances are met and then
12:43this is probably gonna start to split on the side of his leg so even though this
12:46is softer plastic and even though you can see by the way it's attached further
12:49down you just don't want to do a full split for Leo on this side the leg still
12:53manages to move forward you can move them back there's a swivel there at the
12:56top of the thigh he does also have a double hinge on the knees so there's a
12:58hinge here and if I get my finger out of the way there's also a hinge right there
13:02as well so he not only rotates there but the figure does also possess a double
13:06in his knee he's got articulation where it counts in his ankle you can also rock
13:10it back and forth and the figure does also have does have peg holes on the
13:14undersides of his feet like the look of Leonardo I mean obviously as you're kind
13:18of moving hands around and changing out the hands there seems to be still a
13:21problem with the paint kind of flakes off it's just a case of wiping this all
13:25around the area here now again like to compare this guy with Michelangelo that
13:28we've already had a look at and obviously this isn't gonna be the end of
13:31our reviews of the last running figures we're still gonna be looking at Casey
13:34Jones we're still gonna be looking at splinter yeah I mean looking at the two
13:37first of all I want to say like I like this head sculpt I think more than the
13:41one that we kind of started things with it's a sad looking Leo we don't want a
13:45sad Leo even if it's the end of the world or at least the end of the world
13:47as they know it I do think I like this head sculpt a little bit more and I
13:51think it works a little bit better also with Michelangelo it's obviously not the
13:54case at all that they've reused the bodies maybe they've used the arms again
13:57like if I'm looking at the arms and I'm spinning the arms to the side do they
14:00look the same maybe like the bicep maybe the tricep obviously there would
14:04have been some extensive panel lining differences between the two you can also
14:08as well see to like the colors of the turtles aren't exactly the same either
14:11Michelangelo's is a little bit more of a lighter lime green Mike a Leonardo is a
14:16little bit more kind of a kind of a dark avocado green if I was to compare it by
14:19foods yeah I do like the fact that all the turtles are very much unique to one
14:24another gone are the days that they just simply have different letters on the
14:27fronts of their belts like I had said with Michelangelo I am absolutely loving
14:31the new last Ronin figures that we're getting from NECA toys we started things
14:34first our journey with Michelangelo himself then we wanted to move over to
14:38obviously the leader of the heroes in the half-shell Leonardo himself
14:41Leonardo though looks just as good as Michelangelo from a personal preference
14:45I think I like Michelangelo just a little bit more but there's a lot to
14:48really admire about Leonardo and how he manages to basically store all of his
14:53accessories that he has he's not obviously gonna be storing any of his
14:56interchangeable hands that's come on that's silly no figures really gonna be
14:59able to store its own hands just even thought of it I'm removing my hand I'm
15:03gonna store it on my belt come on come on but at least though the throwing
15:07knives they're all placed in obviously places on the figure spot I've left
15:10them off here for final looks just because I was kind of moving things
15:12around I did though get one in between his fingers the one though thing I wish
15:16this figure could have had though is that flat sparring hand had they only
15:20made the slit a little bit bigger between his two fingers then it could
15:23have also stored some of those throwing knives and I think that hand honestly
15:27would have worked I think a little bit better than a hand that was also doing
15:30really double duty it's the same hand that also has to hold the wakasashi or
15:34katana blades that he comes included with love the idea that the store the
15:38swords store on the back of his body and you don't even really have to move the
15:41top of his cloak at all they thought of that they added the slits in the top
15:44there as well it still kind of looks like the talking hat doesn't it
15:48house slithering and anyways the colors are good the panel lining is good and
15:54again what you're getting here is a fantastic rendition of the last Ronin
15:57Leonardo kind of a shame though that we never got spider Mousers to come include
16:02with this guy sort of with I'm not gonna give away anything obviously if you
16:06haven't had the chance to read the last Ronin but spider Mousers play a pivotal
16:10significance when it comes to Leonardo and Casey Jones which we will be
16:14looking at in an upcoming review by the way though I'd like to thank the folks
16:17over at NECA toys that came through and provided the sample of the last Ronin
16:20Leonardo that we had the chance to have a look at in this review have you guys
16:24had the chance to pick picking up any of the last Ronin figures let me know down
16:27below in the comment section which ones that you have and if you're also loving
16:31this line as much as I am again kind of tipping the hat early we're gonna also
16:34be looking at Casey Jones we're also as well gonna be looking at splinter those
16:38two reviews will be coming either way your way to making sure that you're not
16:41missing out on anything coming your way first of all do me a solid if you
16:45enjoyed this video throw it a like but if you want to stick around for more and
16:49you want to see those reviews of the last Ronin well then make sure you hit
16:53the subscribe make sure you turn on the bell make sure you come back as always
16:57guys thanks for watching see you guys next time
